Are you having a Job Shadowing appointment soon and you don’t know how to prepare for it?
With this video we want to help you prepare your questions before your next Job Shadowing Session to make you feel confident before the big day.
Asking experts will help you discover opportunities, explore careers and decide what path is right for you.
I know Job shadowing might seem a bit scary or overwhelming, however if you prepare ahead and take some notes and questions with you i can assure you that at least 50% of the anxiety will go away.
Why is that?
Easy, if your mind goes blank and there is nothing that you can think of asking, you will always have your notes and the questions that you prepared ahead.
Remember it is always better to look over prepared than not prepared at all!!

Great tips. I wish I had job shadowing opportunities when I was younger. I like the tip about writing down questions and submitting them prior to getting together. This is especially helpful for introverts who want to take a little more time developing a well thought out answer. As an introvert, I always feel I could have given a better answer if I was given a little more time to prepare. :)

does job shadowing count as experience?
Hi Joshua,
i wouldn't really count it as work experience since you are not doing the work and also not doing it for long, usually job shadowing is only a few days. But you can definitely include it in your CV as one of the activities and experiences you have had. It would add even more value if you can add several job shadowing sessions for the same career with different professionals. This definitely shows how committed and interest you are in the field and i am sure it would be very appreciated by the person that will be looking at your CV.
Maybe just include one section of Job shadowing / volunteering experiences and opportunities.

Great tips on career. Open ended questions like Why and How helps the person know that you are interested and opens a dialogue with the person
