    Great video Trail! I’d add to start every practice session with a realistic hunting shot because the elk won’t let you take warm up shots in September. When I start a practice session I go to about 50 yards and envision an elk, pull back and count to 10 before I even anchor in and then fire. This simulates you waiting for an elk to stop and you being at full draw. It really makes you focus to make that first shot count. Then you can move to whatever distance you want, work on form, etc.

      That is a fantastic idea almost like the cold bore shot with a rifle. I also enjoy doing angled and elevated shots. 🏹🦌

      Yeah solid. I do something similar but I’m going to add in the 10 second pause! Great video Trail!

    Ever since I picked up a bow - I practice holding at full draw for as many minutes as possible / 60seconds minimum before releasing..... Get a 20#-35# dumbbell & do some reps : lean over a bench or table & pull up the weight off the ground slowly/hold as long as possible/let down slow....

    Totally agree on the scoring system you talk about. I try to shoot 50-100 rounds a day from my Matthews Lift 33 weather permitting . When I built this Bow this year I put on a Shot Sense and it keeps track of everything on the app on my phone. It is a little pricey but in the long run you will see your shooting game improve.

    Great information and video
    When I didn't drive truck, I was able to shoot everyday now I'm unable to. I use to get up in the morning go on my deck and 1 shot unknown yards just like I would in the field rain or shine
    Keep the great videos coming God's Blessings

    Hey Trail, great video and thank you. Quick question… I noticed while you are at the range that you use a traditional belt quiver instead of your bow quiver. I’ve always tried to practice with my bow exactly how I’ll be hunting, i.e. with my tight spot quiver mounted and arrows in it, so that the weight and balance will be the same in practice as on the hunt. Is there any reason why you don’t do that?

      I try and shoot with my full setup and loaded quiver for your exact reasons.

      Hi Matt, I agree that if you plan on hunting with a quiver full of arrows that it's beneficial to practice with them as well. With that being said, I have moved to using a hip quiver when hunting. I either use the hip quiver or I strap the quiver to the side of my pack where I can still reach back with my right hand to access an arrow. I don't like shooting with a quiver mounted to my bow. In my opinion it's less accurate and louder. The increased surface area causes more movement in a breeze or any wind. I much prefer a hip quiver, which is what I have been using and don't see that I will go back. Hope that helps, all the best!

      @@trailkreitzer9163 thanks so much and that’s awesome. I had actually not thought of using anything but a bow quiver while hunting but of course I totally agree that it hurts not helps my shooting. Just thought it was something that I had to endure. Now you’ve got me totally intrigued, I may send you an email to your guhunt to pick your brain a bit on how you pull that off.

    Nice archery 🏹 practice tips to get one started and dialed in. I walk around work pretending to have a bow 🏹 in my hand and shooting. I daydream 😶‍🌫️ about it all day long. Sadly I am not allowed to have a trainer tool like you have while at Menards. I need to get an outdoor activities research 🧐 job so that I can.
    I like to also practice different angles and elevation when I am shooting.

      Menards - You're in the upper Midwest..... Just grab a bungee cord in the store & snap it around,, that or You just need to move out to the yard

    Great video Trail, what’s your thoughts on your SG harness setup? Any dislikes? I’ve been eyeing this one.

    • @trailkreitzer9163
      @trailkreitzer9163 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, I like the SG harness. It's lightweight and low profile and easy to get binos in and out even with one hand. I also like that I can adjust the neck straps so that the harness stays up higher on my chest and it doesn't seem to sag like some other options do. I also like that the lid stays closed even when I am leaning and crawling. I have had others that I liked, but when crawling the lid/magnets would often open up and dump my binos out. I do not like the SG rangefinder pouch, it's a pain when comparing it to some others. I used an Outdoor Vision rangefinder pouch for quite a few years I like it a lot better. I don't see that I will change my bino harness, I like the SG. The Marsupial enclosed harness is great, as is the new Mystery Ranch harness. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any follow ups!
