This conversation is so timely and I’m glad that people are now sharing balanced perspectives on home ownership in Canada. it’s been so glamorized that sometimes people jump in without calculating well. It’s not enough to just save 5% down payment and jump in lol. For me, it makes more sense to have some financial cushion in addition to the down payment, if possible even a sinking fund for these anticipated repairs/maintenance and then ensure that there’s still a decent Cashflow for other expenses and investment after paying for house related fees so that one does not become house poor. Not a home owner yet but really taking my time to understand the intricacies before I dive in.
I love feyimac so much…..I really love this collaboration
Glad you did ❤️
This was so informative ❤
Thank you Onyeka & Feyi
You are very welcome❤️
Please make a video about buying a car in Canada. Where to buy and other informations. I see some very nice cars going for $3000 and in my heart, that’s too good to be true.
It’s definitely too good to be true 😂
Will consider it!
@@OnyekaAsamakaKinda general, where in the US would you find a home very cheap comparable? San Francisco, Los Angeles or New York city, not sure about that.
@@OnyekaAsamakaDIY a big deal in Canada. Don't rent AC, furnace or hot water heater. Most new homes come with these rentals. As soon as you can get out of the contract. Please look into Title Insurance, one time fee for both resale and new homes.
Just when you thought it's all good after owning a home, then all of a sudden, these crazy monthly fees you have to pay, ah wahala wahala wahala
Exactly 🥴
Nice Content. Please which travelling agency can u recommend from Canada
I am a Realtor in Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 I must commend you ladies for this great conversation about property ownership, especially with mortgages.
I can help any of your subscribers get a home in Nigeria using the mortgage scheme such as the National Housing Funds(NHF) or Lagos Building Investment Company(LBIC).
The mortgage scheme is open to all Nigerians both home and in diaspora.
I am Odunayo Adeneye.
Regards.
First to comment 💃💃💃
Yes you are!
Very important to note these things.
The top reason for buyer's remorse is buying a property and getting surprised by all the costs.
If you fail to plan ........ you will understand 😁
Absolutely!
Thank you for this wonderful insight. But omo! Can these fees ever end as a home owner?
This one you guys coughed 😂😂😂the bills CHOKE 🤣
😂😂😂yessss
"i need to cough too" lol
😂😂🤭
Sorry guys, but is Onyeka married? When pls? Cos I heard her say, "my husband was trying to get someone to come & look at it ...(11:49)". When did this happen pls? Nice video though!
😂😂where are you been??? Please catch up on my older videos 👌🏾
@@OnyekaAsamaka My apologies then. Congrats are in order. Lucky guy!
I laugh in US housing market.. I think it depends on the state, houses in the US are not ‘generally’ cheap.
Yeah, we don’t live in a biggest cities in Canada so we don’t compare to those. We generally compare average cost of property in both countries or compare to medium-sized cities like the one we live in. The prices in the US are way more reasonable in these terms.
What Feyi said👌🏾
@@FeyiMac okay. Got you! Without this explanation, one would think you meant that houses in the US are cheap.
Thank you Ladies for your honest and undiluted opinion , However I still wonder how some people make it seem like its easy to buy a house in Canada , I have heard immigrants say they bought a house in 6months ,8months after arriving Canada without sharing the means while misleading people and creating an impression that if you dont own a home in a year then you are not doing well amd this has caused alot of pressure and competition . It is well
I want to believe people like went to Canada with a lot of money. I’ve also seen a lot of people in the UK with the same video like it’s that easy. I just hope those content creators can be honest and upfront about their finances and stop misleading people.
@@Tbells Do you know some people rely on what these creators paint and relocate without proper research.
Hi Joke,
From my perspective as a Mortgage Agent, it is possible but it is not the norm.
Remember that when skilled immigrants are relocating to Canada as permanent residents, some sell off all their properties in Nigeria to move here with cash. Some simply just have lots of savings to put down enough downpayment. Remember, wealthy people immigrate too.
Most people buying houses in Canada are buying on mortgage. That is the norm. You have your minimum 5% downpayment, a good paying permanent job (by the time husband and wife combine high paying incomes, it can work), credit history (there are alternatives in the absence of 1 year credit history).
So I wouldn’t say they are misleading people, they are just not the average immigrant who typically needs about 2 years to get comfortable enough to buy a home. People just need to provide balance.
Hope this helps.
@@FeyiMac Apt Thank you for this detailed explanation I get the gist now.
Exactly!!!
The problem is the financial system has gotten used to making money from money not from any value add. So all the tricks and imaginery calculations keep driving up prices. While regulatory restrictions reduce increase in hous8ng stock. Environmentalist never want high rise, want only nature and trees. Humams need homes..so what do we do? 😂
Thanks for your input ❤️
Hello, just to add to the above comment on growth on youtube. The video you made 4days ago on capping international students. Over 6k views jist in 4 days. Majority of your followers followed you because of immigration. So any video that is on other topics not everyone will be interested. This is the biggest determining factor. ❤❤❤
This is wrong. Her channel is not only for immigration. And you are not the majority please
I understand that some people subscribe to me because of immigration related content but they’re also people who also subscribed for lifestyle content. Sometimes just talking about only Canadian immigration can become stale and not every video maybe catchy to the viewers so it’s hard sometimes.

Is it a good time to buy a home? Consider the relationship between home prices and interest rates.
**High Interest Rates:**
- When interest rates are high, home prices tend to stall or drop.
- Getting a mortgage is more challenging due to higher rates.
- But buying during high interest rates may get you a great deal, as competition is lower.
**Low Interest Rates:**
- With low interest rates, it's easier to secure a mortgage.
- However, it's easier for everyone, leading to increased competition.
- You'll likely pay more for a home compared to a high-interest-rate market.
**In summary:** Choose the challenge you can handle better-high home prices or high interest rates.
Haha, the summary part 👌🏾
