I was born and raised in an actual hell hole. I moved to Canada a decade ago. I’m curious how widely travelled (internationally) you are… I bet your position on Canada being horrid is informed by the fact you haven’t seen how tough/nasty the world can be
And you think going to US, Germany, Italy & France that makes you widely travelled? This right-wing “multicultural” immigration talking point always conveniently ignores shiploads of immigrants from Europe, and never mentions the true owners of the country, the native first nations. People with small minds judge people on skin colour/religion/gender (“multiculturalism”) and not on the strength of their character. A comment on youtube will, however, not change how you think unfortunately
@FundiWaStima you simultaneously said "skin colour" isn't important while calling "right wing" talking points on immigration racist based on race. Also, native populations were conquered end of story. That's ancient history, along with slavery.

I think it’s important to be intentional. I feel a lot of people come here without doing their research and the truth is if you do at least one search on TH-cam on the down side of living in Canada or any western country really you will definitely find loneliness up there. So people really need to come up with a plan of intentionally mitigating this. There are lots of suggestions online even government funded programs exist to help this. It may not totally eradicate the loneliness but it will help. From my experience I have found that Africans especially can be so close minded. Office people or school mates will invite you to the pub you will say you are not going. Hunting you will say you are not doing. Things that these guys enjoy you won’t try them and then we’ll be expecting not to be lonely. We really need to do our research learn to adapt and be open minded! We need to just accept that these places are never going to be like our home countries but we can build a community to combat loneliness through intentional living.

In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become the North Korea of the western world.

To be honest with you , immigrant lack of patience and many of us as soon as we relocate somewhere want to get things right away. The only thing that I don’t like in Canada is the winter and the fact that this country is not business friendly like in USA. I also have US citizen through marriage but Canada is better than US for medical practice. I can’t explain that here, It will be too long.
It's because Canada is basically made up of oligopolies / professional guilds, group after group each trying to out screw each other, the federal government being the very best at" taking care of their own."
I lived in United Arab emirates (Dubai) for over a decade, I missed my life . I moved here for study and currently in my second post graduate program, the truth is Canada is kinda of over hyped and extremely boring. Canada has lot of fake promotional bloggers making it seem like is gold, is among the toughest place to survive. I live in Toronto that they say is the business and social hub but is boring( just imagine life in other places. The good thing is career growth is fast here if you get into good profession
Reason a lot of Naija babes feel the loneliness a lot more is all the Naija guys who used to give them free attention just for the chance to go on a date, are nowhere to be found now due to time difference etc. The Naija guys in Canada no send anybody papa, everybody dey face their bill hustle squarely. If you want to be dated, you just also drop the shakara and bring something that shows you should be dated or whatever. That’s why they mostly struggle. Otherwise, good reasons all round

@@smwk2017 sure, Quebec is great. I know some folks that have moved from Ontario to Quebec. I also know some that don’t want to move because of the language barrier and lower salaries and opportunities for certain industries.

The crime rates are getting really bad. The houses are crazy expensive most of the time it’s cold . Thinking about moving somewhere hotter. People that come to Canada they think they will be able to to buy a house think again u will just be working most of your life paying of the mortgage

Where is the impression of low cost of living/taxes in the US from? That is so far from the truth. One bedroom apartment can run you $3000+…. The only cheap areas of the US too like Wyoming, Montana are places no immigrant or American not indigenous to the place, wants to live there. Do your research better. Yes salaries are better for the exact same job in the US but it’s not cheaper in the desirable places like NY, Chicago, LA etc.
We have done our research. We have compared prices. Look up average real estate prices-Canadian vs US. Your definition of desirable isn’t the same as ours. We don’t want to live in mega cities like LA or NYC, we know they are large cities and are expensive, even worse than Toronto. But we see house prices in cities and towns across Texas, Michigan, Ohio, even some parts of Georgia among many other options. And that’s what we’re saying, there are lots of options. Way more real estate value for the $. The median home price in Canada is about 50% higher than the median home price in the U.S and salary is still much higher in the US for the same role in our industries. We visit the US frequently, we have family there, we check out real estate there, have contemplated moving there based on feedback from many of our friends that have moved there from Canada. Trust me, we know the difference. Just from going to a store, an item you have for $5usd in the US can be marked up as high as $18cad plus 13% HST in Ontario, 15% in some other provinces. Only a couple of provinces have decent sales tax rates. Sometimes, I have to wait till I have a US trip planned to buy certain items because it makes no sense buying them here at the ridiculously high prices and high tax rate. Canadians drive across the US border to buy groceries and clothes at better prices. Canada is big on Oligopoly. Very few players control the market here. Not much room for strong competition to drive prices down. I could go on and on. Biggest of all is real estate. Look at the stats for average homes.
@@FeyiMacUnited States has always been a better country than Canada in all areas besides the gun violence. Most people that left Canada for US became wealthier. Elon Musk and there’s this Nigerian millionaire in the US that became very wealthy when they left Canada for US. Hello Feyi!......Longest time! 😊I am kinda NOT SURPRISED about people leaving Canada, 1) Its the 2nd Largest Nation in size on Earth and that means people have ENOUGH space to "space out", hence most LESS likely seeing a human being in a week. 2)Canada , I am sorry is so boring (I am very sorry Feyi) There are only two hits known and associated with Canada Everything I do, I do it unto you by Bryan Adams and Funky Town by Lipps Inc. Infact whenever I travel to California from London, I always ask why was the travel so long? Only to find out I had to flyover Canada and I say "Oh! yes that nation in the north of the USA!😅 3) Lastly, Canada is soooooo cold especially dem places like NewFoundland and Northern Territories. Infact you are likely to encounter a brown or grizzly bear rummaging through your bin in Canada.😅
Half the planet is trying to migrate to western countries both legally and illegally. Thousands and thousands each month! No surprise that foreigners, and the born and raised, are now having to greatly compete for homes/jobs. Best advice: be grateful if a country is still trying to help u leave the place that u wish to leave but it will NOT be easy.
Canada is better in raising family. USA has more jobs and better economically. If USA gets involved with world conflicts, a draft may come back because it needs more soldiers. You need to earn good money to stay in a region with good school district. If you live in a poor neighborhood and send your children to a bad school district, your children are more likely to fail.
Pick Canada trust me you won't regret it. With American citizenship, no matter where your kid lives in future they are obligated to file taxes to the irs
It depends on your lifestyle and the city you live in. I have earned close to minimum wage before and I was able to save but that was before all the inflation. Sharing accommodation is the major item that could help you save on minimum wage. It might be hard in the current economy but it’s doable.

Maybe it’s also important to keep in mind that Healthcare is a leading cause of bankruptcy in the USA. There is plenty to say about the long wait to access public health care in Canada, but at least it is free (mostly) at the point of delivery. In the USA, it usual to get tons of bills after the fact. So yes, one will earn more, but if healthcare was ever a thing to consider (and it will be if one has children and seniors), then that earning potential starts to change into something else. Great video by the way.

The only thing that I don’t like in Canada is the winter and the fact that this country is not business friendly like in USA. I also have US citizen through marriage but Canada is better than US for medical practice. I can’t explain that here, It will be too long.
Im in Canada I’d be out of here if I could get to the USA.
It's because Canada is basically made up of oligopolies / professional guilds, group after group each trying to out screw each other, the federal government being the very best at" taking care of their own."
You ladies have considered moving to the states please enlighten me how it is done ,i have been a citizen here for 15 years but i want out.
Hello Feyi, hope you good? Interesting video🧡 the loneliness no be here…I just recently relocated to Canada (London) with my family and I am finding it so hard to find a balance😢 I have cried at least twice since the relocation asking myself who send me o! Please any tips or community I can join to help me navigate a well balanced life over here?
Oh no, so sorry you’re experiencing this. Video on tips coming soon
Onyeka congratulations 🎉

Cost of living in Ontario is just insane!!
Ontario is not the whole of Canada. People base their judgement from their experience in Ontario. Many other provinces are more affordable
We talked about other provinces in this video.
Quebec has the lowest jobless rate in Canada. Housing is still affordable.
@@smwk2017 sure, Quebec is great. I know some folks that have moved from Ontario to Quebec. I also know some that don’t want to move because of the language barrier and lower salaries and opportunities for certain industries.
2 of u, i tell pple when i was in UK, living abroad is a choice not for money, u hv to love where u are living and d country, more taxes in UK.
There are lot better countries out there . I have lived in Canada for 40 years even I left there are so many different countries out there that mare why better . The crime rates are getting really bad. The houses are crazy expensive most of the time it’s cold . Thinking about moving somewhere hotter. People that come to Canada they think they will be able to to buy a house think again u will just be working most of your life paying of the mortgage
Interesting perspectives, i would like to split my time between Canada and a more sunny place. I am biased towards Nigeria 😂
That’s goals! Thanks for sharing 😄
My toddler is also "allergic to cold." i didnt know it's a thing. I thought i was being extra.
If any small cold touches him, he starts coughing and wheezing
@@abigailakinwande it really is a thing. I knew about mine even from Nigeria with regular AC. It can get bad.
United States rewards skills, competence, innovative and hardworking individuals while Canada undervalue and underpay these qualities. Also healthcare is 10 times better in the US than Canada and you are insured through your employer or buy your own insurance.
In Canada you work for bills and taxes! It’s really sad.
In Nigeria u don't even have a job to help you pay your bills.
@@blessingogungbenle1247 Yup. The west their is jobs but high cost living.
But Africa no jobs but low cost of living. So you must find the balance.
Either make ur money in the West and build ur future in Africa.
And more people are coming in
True! As some are leaving, more are coming in. Migration defined.
Canada is a great country with unlimited potential if you have ambition. Sadly, some immigrants failed in this country because they move into this great country, while still holding on to their old country's mindset, these are the folks that usually fail.
Thank you ❤
You still have too much faith in this country
Don’t agree, lots of ambition from people working in dead end jobs, just have enough money to afford a house.
Are you sure things such as the average rent in places like Toronto ($2600/month) for a one bedroom doesn’t have something to do with it?
Having lived in the US for seven years, and now a permanent resident of Canada, I still don't regret my move...
I'm working towards being a snow bird 😅😅😅
Same here! That’s goals!
thats the goal !! i truly cant wait to be a snow bird
Amazing conversations

Eish.....Naija women are smart.
Thank you
Long time
Ei y is Nigeria not the first option to retire as a Nigerian
Because I would love to explore other African countries. My husband is partly Ghanaian
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Moneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come to Australia /NZ
Normally, America no be Canada mate.
Please please, we love our Canada like that oh 😭
@@FeyiMac 😂
Most of them leave because Canadian dollars is not as strong as pounds and US dollars
I guess so
Indeed no country is heaven. I heard something about Canada and I'll like to confirm if it's true. Do wild animals come into residential areas?
Lol this your question made me laugh. Watch out for one of my upcoming videos. I mentioned this 🤣🤣
If you house is next to the wild, then yes. This is the same as USA.
th-cam.com/video/aHJ8wO3io5Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VJBPJxetLo7ykNdv ....here's an example of wildlife in residential areas
@@smwk2017 Hmm…how about the cities?
@@bolu101 Rats, stray cats, and squirrels. Near the edge of the city, you will see raccoons, deer, and even bears.
For someone who has an opportunity to have a child in the US or Canada, which is better to choose (from citizenship benefit perspective)?
Canada is better in raising family. USA has more jobs and better economically. If USA gets involved with world conflicts, a draft may come back because it needs more soldiers. You need to earn good money to stay in a region with good school district. If you live in a poor neighborhood and send your children to a bad school district, your children are more likely to fail.
USA
Pick Canada trust me you won't regret it. With American citizenship, no matter where your kid lives in future they are obligated to file taxes to the irs
Thank you everyone. I am very grateful for the advice
if i have a minimum wage and am so frugal in spending can i manage to save 500$ monthly ? thanks you
It depends on your lifestyle and the city you live in. I have earned close to minimum wage before and I was able to save but that was before all the inflation. Sharing accommodation is the major item that could help you save on minimum wage. It might be hard in the current economy but it’s doable.
@@FeyiMac so if i manage to save after all expenses 1000$ in a country am living in right now , you would advise me to stay here? Thanks much love ❤️
@@hallel9020 it depends. Sometimes it’s not all about money. If you are happy and fulfilled with your life here, sure. It’s an amazing country filled with opportunities but everyone’s experience will be different. I hope it goes very well for you here.
You make a great point about the cost of healthcare in the US, especially in the absence of health insurance.
@@FeyiMac Many people purchase small amount of health care insurance, with high deductible and co-payment. Becasue of the potential cost, they avoid seeing doctors unless they have do. Often it is too late.
@@smwk2017 that’s so unfortunate
