Thank you so much for posting this. I suffered a rough fall on my ribs fours days ago. I was feeling serious pain from breathing and basically any type of movement, especially trying to sleep. After about 15 minutes of following the steps in your video I feel so much better. It was bit scary at first, but now I'm going to keep using this technique until I'm fully healed.
I'm a gymnast and when I did a frontwalkover I had rib pains for 3 weeks so I watched this video and it really helps but I thought I would never be able to do gymnasticks again but I can so thank you so much this really helped xxxxx
11 years later but this was great advice for me today as I thought I’d injured my rib cage on my first block therapy try. Thank you so much Sukie🥰love and gratitude coming your way right now thank you again ❤
Thank you for making this video...It fixed my problem. My ribs have been overlapped for several days. I know it will take a few days for the bruised ribs to heal but the overlapping is gone. Thank you!
Hi Joyce can you tell me what you means with overlapped ribs? Do you mean one rib over another? How did you move before you had overlapped ribs? Just curious to be aware not to further injure myself. I hope your're well.
After eating, my upper left rib started to sting and hurt. I did not fracture it. I tried stretching and lying down, but it didn't work. Then I watched this video, tried this technique, and it started feeling much better.
Thank you Sukie, that was very helpful. I injured or sprained my intercostals about a week ago and it is so painful. I expect it to take 6 or more weeks to recover. This has been the only 'manuever' that has eased the pain for me.
woke up at 2am with a sharp pain in my left upper rib area. sitting down or standing up it's manageable and it doesnt hinder me too much but lying on either side of my body, esp the left, is brutal and i can only breathe about 40%.
Thank you sooooo much, i can take a deep breath now without having to get the right timing and set up for it. Feels great .. Finally something that works after a whole month of pain and not knowing what to do with this pain.. Wow.. Thanks ..
I get a lot of muscle tightness, so I find getting a massage helps. I think you have to also be conscientious of keeping a correct posture, something I have hard time with. I also need to strengthen my muscles. Stretching is fine up to point, but strengthening is important.
I have to say thank you So much for sharing this! I felt a pop in my rib cage the other day, and I knew immediately I was going to be in pain for a long time. I am hoping so much that this is going to help me relieve the pain some more and speed up my healing a little! Thanks again, Suzie. I really appreciate you!
Excellently done and very helpful! Since I started doing an alkalizing nutritional cleansing and replenishing system, I hadn't had ribs go out for years and I have felt amazing. Thank you so much for this video, Sukie! I fell on ice and bent my rib a month ago. It's a LOT better, but there are moments I feel some limitation- this helps me open it up some more. I'm grateful for the way you talk about it- that we don't have to give in to our limits- we can work on loosening up a place that hurts.
wow i've had a broken rib among many other broken bones in a motorcycle accident. But i've never put together my sticking rib breathing problem till i saw this video.thank you..........
Thankyou, this felt good in a painful way. I'm worried what the hell I did though when you said it isn't normal, I've only done basic yoga and some leg extensions and marching since the pain started but cannot sit up from being laid down and have to roll onto the opposite side, also hurts to cough, it feels swollen and bloated on one side and hurts to touch or even sit, reminds me of the pain I had when I fell off a horse jumping but feels more internal. *Update* I had fractured my ribs and popped out my intercostals, people please get checked out if your very sore or even just cannot do as much movement, these exercises sure have helped ease things but certainly wouldn't have applied as much pressure and been doing yoga to try and release muscles if I'd known there was nothing to release and they were fractured.
Thanks there, Sukie. That seems to help... and it's also the first of these videos I've seen that seems sensible and watchable. Good info, intelligently shared.
Same here. My sides feel like they want to expand but I get really sharp pains when I take deep breathes. I feel like I can make better progress but the sharp needle pains pauses it from ma making a full recovery
I did this massaging the muscle downwards (under the left rib) and I felt and heard some weird pop in the left middle back and it made me kinda wince or scream. Now it hurts even more than it did before. I got this from giving a weird hug in the car and wtf it's killing me. It hurts every time I breathe in or out, talk about one of the worst places on the body to get injured in some way.
When you're during from migrating ribs due to spinal injury you're already in so much pain that this exercise looks too painful to do on your own. Thank you for the explanation though!
Sweet holy shit. I just did that. Have an 8 year old dislocated 7, 8, and 9th ribs. Started to do that and almost scared the crap out of my dog with my whine. She, my dog called me a girl and not to moan about it as she has eaten many ribs…. I’ll keep doing this as I never realised just how awful the pain is. Thanks honey! 😊
Thanks. I do this on my own but never saw anyone else do it. My pain is debilitating. No injury. Can facet joint disorder be a contributor? How about Fibromyalgia?
Hi Sukie! I had scarring on my intercostals and have done a lot of work towards it over the years. I’m left with tight fascia in one area. Any other modalities you like for the intercostals? Would you recommend cupping or graston for this area? Finally, should also be doing breathing exercises that strengthen this area of the muscle? Thank you so much for your time
I have had chronic lower rib pain (false rib region 8/9/10 area - not sure exactly which one but approx 2 inches down from my sternum the right). Anyway, I have been scouring the web and youtube for months searching for a fix. I have tried supplements (for inflammation and cartilage; curcumin, glucosamine/chondroitin/msm blend, various peptides such as bpc, tb500/tb4, cjc/ipa blend and ran concurrently and separately). Nothing has worked. It has been plauging me and really impacting my QoL. Cant move the way I want to move. Cant train the way I want to train. Constantly aware of my movements just waiting for that old familiar twinge to appear again. It has truly been, in a way, torturous. Movement and the freedom of movement in my body is pivotal to my own personal well being. I tried this for about 5 minutes today and I swear, it has almost completely gone. I have tested super hard bracing of my core (ie for squatting, deadlifting etc) by bicep curling my partner (approx 50kg) and felt pretty much nothing. I am still getting some aggravation when rotating my T spine, so something is still "pulling" or jammed somewhere. Thread the needles loosened my mid back some and that pulling/jamming and subsequent pain from T spine rotation has also subsided slightly. Thank you so much Sukie, you have no idea how much this has been weighing on me. You have also set me down the road of further fascia study and I guess that is ultimately the lesson that was being presented to me from this entire situation. In thanks again, William
I have been having pain in my right ribcage I have been trying to use a pillow to put pressure on it like a person who just had open heart surgery would when they cough and it would help temperarly but it would start hurting again the pain goes from the inner part of the ribcage all the way to my back close to the thoracic spine so I will try this exercise to see if it will help the pain

I have had an on going back pain and rib problem for years. I've tried self treatment like massaging side ribs but it doesn't release the rib which dislocates. The pain wraps around my left chest, side, and into mid upper back. So far the only one who has relieved the pain is my chiro but the problem is the rib keeps moving out of place every month. Is there anything you can suggest for home therapy or a maneuver I can do to get the rib back in place? I also have scoliosis.
I have been having some pain on one of my ribs in the back area, near my spine, and I figured I either fractured it, or twisted the rib somehow, unfortunately I am unable to do this (what's in the video) because 1. I can't reach it myself and 2. I don't have anyone who would be able to help me. I guess I'll have to wait a while before I see anyone I know well enough to be able to help me out haha
Having had a fall, it's possible that you injured your ribs. I recommend avoiding this exercise until any strains or fractures have had a chance to heal and consulting a doctor if the pain persists.
