Feels depressing not seeing Henry Cavil's Superman journey through Zack Snyder. DC has missed something big with not following up on that story. Can you imagine Darkseid vs Superman, Zack Snyder style, god oh mighty the movie world weren't ready for that. 😬
Zack Snyder is only dude who managed to make a damn Superman movie actually interesting, intense and introduced some drama, made side characters important part of the plot and all this combined with really decent action. Just compare Clark's original and earth parents' arcs from older movies and this one. It's insane.
This movie does a FANTASTIC job of showing how Kal-El/Clark is clearly a product of FOUR absolutely fantastic people. He has to live up to all four parents. That's why he is who he is. And cannot be less.
This movie was 🔥. Most underrated superhero movie of all time. It has what most superhero movies lack, which is to show how mankind would treat someone different or with powers that can’t be explained so mankind immediately tried to figure out how to weaponize them or alienate them because they are different. Also the best superhero fights in the genre. Batman v Superman also has the best Batman put on film.

The Scout ship has its own backstory in a prequel comic. It belonged to Kara Zor El aka Supergirl. She was a pilot who was part of the mission called the Great Expansion looking for habitable worlds. Some conflicting events in the ship led her to crash land on Antarctica 18,000 years ago. But what happened to her later is a mystery.

32:45 He is Healing himself by the Sun, he is not taking a Nap. He destroyed the freakin World Destroyer man. Plus, now that he can fly in that Gravity beam, proves that he can fly on Krypton too now.
I grew up with the classic 70’s Sup which I think captured the character really well but Cavil is the best since. Even if this movie is darker than most superhero movies.
In the original Superman story, Kal-El's ship crash land in a smalltown in Kansas named Smallville. A Smallville couple found the ship and raised the baby Kryptonian as their son. The couple name was Jonathon and Martha Kent.
The thing that was brilliant about this movie is the way he traveled around seeing the best and worst in humanity. Like the guy on the boat that knocked him out of the way but still called him a dumbass-but they didn’t hesitate to go to that rig and to try and save people…
1:07 - funny you say that... Aaron Smolinski, who played toddler Kal-El in the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie, cameos as the soldier standing behind Captain Ferris and Dr. Hamilton at 22:46. He also made an appearance in Superman III's opening sequence.
Whoa, it's crazy to actually see people who doesn't know even the basics of Superman. I mean I've seen others who never saw any films but they still know the origins. This is a great film & refleftive of a modernized version of the original Golden Age creation where he was a bit more human and aggressive. But this includes the powers he later got. The Superman films with Christopher Reeve are more well liked because it is many peoples only version they know & he's more goody good there as it was more in line with the Bronze Age of the 70's & campiness of the Silver Age. I like both versions but do prefer this version as the Golden Age, Post Crisis & New 52 are all represented here. The world is more cynical now then it was in the 70's but "fans" want the 70's tone back which makes no sense. If you want to continue the journey the main films that are connected are BVS: Ultimate Edition, Suicide Squad (2016 version), Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder's Justice League (this is 4 hours long), Aquaman, The Flash (only if you want to see the final film in the universe that makes direct references). Superman originally didn't fly, he leaped high. The flying didn't happen until 1940 with the Fletcher cartoons. Most of the powers didn't come right away, so over the years they've made the powers either an allegory for puberty or him gaining more powers the longer he's on Earth and the Yellow Sun. Superhero films have a bad rap as kiddie stuff & unfortunately many are because of how safe they are, the MCU pushes some boundaries but DC has often crossed them & most of the time they are crapped on for it. General Zod was artificially made to protect Krypton at all cost that's why he's relentless. In his mind he is trying to save his people. Kryptonians are indestructible on Earth with the exception being when exposed to Kryptonite or Magic. In this case Zod's body has only been on Earth and under the yellow sun for a short time so while he is able to quickly adapt Superman is still stronger. What made the fight more intense is that Zod is actually trained and Superman never fought anyone. The World Engine & Zod were the main reasons Metropolis was messed up so much. If you rewatch you'll see that Superman mostly was on the offense causing little damage himself outside of being thrown through buildings.
This movie captured the reality of a Super Kryptonian on Earth. This was just him starting out too. Also his cousin is coming Supergirl you will love her.
I've gotta be honest: Henry Cavill is my favorite cinematic Superman. I'm sorry to Christopher Reeve fans, he WAS good for the 70s and 80s, but Henry is the ideal modern times cinematic Man Of Steel.
Man of Steel is a-GREAT-film,best Superman movie-EVER !!! And the entire sound track is-AWESOME-too. Zod and Thanos are my all-time favorite villians of super-hero films, you can understand Zod's motivations to rebirth Krypton, just not his methods.Zod went insane with the destruction of his home world-Krypton-and even said in the film, everything he did was for the greater good. And we get to see a modern day take of SUPES and the other Kryptonian soldiers powers unleashed upon a city ( in Superman 2 came out in 1981,also showed Kryptonians battling in a city ) but,MOS's version is much, more intense and brutal than the old movie's take back in 1981.
The best superman movie of all time is superman,1978 Christopher Reid That is how Superman supposed to be superman is a Boy Scout kind like Captain 🇺🇸 America I don’t like how Lois knew his was Superman the whole time Lois doesn’t know Clark is superman until they finally get together The problem with this movie is Superman is not a dark character
This movie is phenomenal! Despite what anyone says. FYI the skull thst Jor El stole, the "Codex" is basically the skull of a very very old Kryptonian, one of the first Kryptonians. Like their version of Adam from the Bible. The genetics in the Codex is what all current Kryptonians evolved from, but in addition to that, the skull was infused technologically with the genetic information for the next future billion or so Kryptonians
I don’t find the Snyder Verse dark, I find it grounded, serious and realistic, a reflection of real world, it is just that other CBMs at the time DC started his universe were made lighter to be able to reach all audiences and some got that like the standard and criticized DC for taking another direction without giving it a chance, still it was successful at the beginning and general audience liked it, but biased critics and haters destroyed them and Warner decided to listen to them and change the tone and then canceled it 😞 . So guys the SnyderVerse (original DCEU/slate/plan ) only includes Man of Steel, Batman V Superman Ultimate Edition, Suicide Squad Extended Cut (we are still waiting for the original cut but this one is the one we have for now ) Wonder Woman 2017 and Zack Snyders Justice League 2021, after Wonder Woman Warner messed up everything, we were really lucky getting Zack’s JL, but yeah everything after 2017 got bad, lost quality and got disconnected from original plan so just have that in mind if you continue watching, Aquaman 2018 is the only movie after 2017 that could fit in the Snyder Verse but it officially is not part of it and even though it could fit it has some inconsistencies. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the Snyderverse it is really good. #RestoreTheSnyderVerse 🙌

Kryptonians can die, but generally only at the hands of another Kryptonian. It would be like how we as humans are capable of killing each other with our bare hands. Zod also was not nearly as strong as Clark because Clark had been on Earth absorbing the radiation from our yellow sun since he was a baby and Zod had only had a few days exposure. However Zod was trained very well as an elite warrior so he was a much better natural fighter and he knew how to make the most out of every ounce of his strength.
1. Zod was born to protect Krypton; his sole purpose of existence was to try and restore Krypton by any and all means neccessary. He's not just a typical villain, his motives as wrong they were, were justified. 2. Superman can die, just not easily, and def not by humans. His weakness is Kryptonite, radioactive pieces of Krypton that came to Earth either with Zod's ship or Superman's ship when the planet exploded.
Hands Zimmer score is phenomenal. Henry Cavill was made for the role. It had a bit too much destruction in the finale but was a brilliant telling of a well known story. Cavill desereved a second stand alone sequel.
17:44 Superman, as he traversed the extremes of Hypertime, literally traversed an infinity number of Universes in an instant. Which means it's infinite speed.I mean superman can fly infinty speed
I may be wrong but I think this is how most of Superman's powers work. His potential is essentially unlimited however its only relevant within the limitations of Earths yellow sun (or suns like it)
@@renoslash1890 Superman can absorb not only earth Yellow Energy , but quasar Energy, Blue , White, stars Energy, quantum, Energy , cosmic Energy , White stars Energy make Superman over 1000 times more Powerful than earth Yellow sun so Superman Superman's potential is limitless
the 1 thing i would change about man of steel was how jonathan kent died in the comics and in the show smallville i think did the best with it, that his father dies of a heart attack. it was a lesson clark had to learn that despite all of his powers and abilities he is not a god, he had to learn that he can't save everyone at least for me that is a much more powerful lesson for superman to learn
Superman was raised in this earth 🌎 atmosphere and he breathes and see birthed In earths seasons. Same with Zod Krypton atmosphere programmed in the Ship.
Yes! Superman could die but it would have to be 1) through kryptonite, emerald green fragment pieces left of the planet Krypton, his home world or 2) a Kryptonian, or someone who shares the same or more capacity of strength as him. Doomsday was a villain created by kryptonite and was able to kill Superman bc he had both 1 and 2
#MichaelShannon does such a great job of portraying a warrior castes's top breeding and training product. He is an absolutely worthy enemy. And in The Flash alt universe...well...
If you have never seen a Superman film before this then you have to watch Superman 78. Man of steel is a decent film but its best parts are the action. Superman is more then just action and this film does not capture the true spirit of Superman. The biggest flaw of Man ofSteel is Superman does not kill, ever, period. For that reason alone, this film is not a true Superman film.
This movie is brilliant. Brilliant writing, acting, score, vfx... And it's not ebrn really a superhero movie. It's a science fiction movie that happens to have a guy who saves people. This movie, more than any other, superman movie, explores what it takes to be Superman. It explores the consequences of every action. It's beautiful
You say, "How is he supposed to kill him?" meaning Zod. Well, the shocker in this movie that breaks the rules is that Superman is not supposed to kill anyone. But, hey, I am in my mid-40s, so this movie wasn't made for me.
It was a pretty generic movie but visually cool.Cavill superman didn't sit well with alot of ppl due to his stoic personality which is inaccurate to superman. Am ready for the new superman movie next year hopefully that gives me a more complex emotional story especially with the director attached to it.
To be honest i like synder's version of superman better than the happy bumbling idiotic superman because he's not realistic Snyder's version showed us what a good person with superman powers would go through and experience in real life but people prefer these days prefer nostalgia over quality....
I know mostly the basics of Superman and Krypton but 1 thing always bothered me with Kryptons story. They were obviously super advanced so how come the leaders were still on the planet when it was only hours from falling apart. They hade to know what was happening to the planet and they hade colonys so why were they still on the planet. The average worker yeah sure but your entire races leadership on a planet they know is only hours from getting destroyed, that dosent make any sense atall.

However Zod was trained very well as an elite warrior so he was a much better natural fighter and he knew how to make the most out of every ounce of his strength.
Y’all gotta understand Superman doesn’t like violence
but he never backs down from a fight when it's necessary.
This is the best DC movie ever!! Love Man of Steel.
Even his first choice cover profession - Arctic fishing - is one where he can save lives that are otherwise doomed.
She said "grippin that thang."
A lot of misconceptions about Zod. He was bred to protect his people at the genetic level. His villainy is from perspective alone.
Hands Zimmer score is phenomenal. Henry Cavill was made for the role. It had a bit too much destruction in the finale but was a brilliant telling of a well known story. Cavill desereved a second stand alone sequel.

Superman, as he traversed the extremes of Hypertime, literally traversed an infinity number of Universes in an instant.
Which means it's infinite speed.I mean superman can fly infinty speed
I may be wrong but I think this is how most of Superman's powers work. His potential is essentially unlimited however its only relevant within the limitations of Earths yellow sun (or suns like it)
@@renoslash1890 Superman can absorb not only earth Yellow Energy , but quasar Energy, Blue , White, stars Energy, quantum, Energy , cosmic Energy , White stars Energy make Superman over 1000 times more Powerful than earth Yellow sun so Superman Superman's potential is limitless
the 1 thing i would change about man of steel was how jonathan kent died
in the comics and in the show smallville i think did the best with it, that his father dies of a heart attack. it was a lesson clark had to learn that despite all of his powers and abilities he is not a god, he had to learn that he can't save everyone
at least for me that is a much more powerful lesson for superman to learn
Superman was raised in this earth 🌎 atmosphere and he breathes and see birthed
In earths seasons. Same with Zod Krypton atmosphere programmed in the Ship.
Can't believe yall haven't watched the other 2.....
Remember, you need to watch Batman v Superma (ULTIMATE EDITION) in next
Marvel fans hate these movies lol .... best superman ever .. no comp .....
Facts! Sadly some people full of twisted agendas find it hard to accept it.
Yes! Superman could die but it would have to be 1) through kryptonite, emerald green fragment pieces left of the planet Krypton, his home world or 2) a Kryptonian, or someone who shares the same or more capacity of strength as him. Doomsday was a villain created by kryptonite and was able to kill Superman bc he had both 1 and 2
I don’t believe they can die. General Zod may be “dead” but if you lay him out in the sun for a bit and he’ll revive.
that's not how that works dude. The sun can't heal a snapped neck.
#MichaelShannon does such a great job of portraying a warrior castes's top breeding and training product. He is an absolutely worthy enemy. And in The Flash alt universe...well...
36:29 , i thought the same thing when i saw it in the theatre, lol, lets just hide in the corner it's safer
Loving the Maiden shirt!
You guys should react to a little bit of The Flash (CW series), Arrow and Superman and lois.
Imo best dc movie other than zack sniders justice league
Absolutely concur. 👍🏼
if this was your first time then i wonder how many people didnt see it
This movie is brilliant. Brilliant writing, acting, score, vfx... And it's not ebrn really a superhero movie. It's a science fiction movie that happens to have a guy who saves people.
This movie, more than any other, superman movie, explores what it takes to be Superman. It explores the consequences of every action. It's beautiful
The writing was bad
Y'all need to watch ZSJL and BVS Ultimate Edition
You guy SKIPPED the actual take off of his first(controlled)flight???
I love how you don’t seem to have seen ANY superman movie 😂
You say, "How is he supposed to kill him?" meaning Zod. Well, the shocker in this movie that breaks the rules is that Superman is not supposed to kill anyone. But, hey, I am in my mid-40s, so this movie wasn't made for me.
Faora wasn’t even fully adapted to earth Yet and was smoking Kal on her own just imagine her fully adapted with her abilities at 100%
no fr!
Masterpiece
not IF earth explodes, when earth WILL explode. Bring on the SUPERNOVA!!
I hear ya. Or preferably just some phenomena that's just deadly to humans and wipes us out.
It was a pretty generic movie but visually cool.Cavill superman didn't sit well with alot of ppl due to his stoic personality which is inaccurate to superman. Am ready for the new superman movie next year hopefully that gives me a more complex emotional story especially with the director attached to it.
"Generic?" You must be young or on something. 😂
Good luck looking forward to a goofy, comedic, lacklustre Superman who will flatter to deceive.
U guys are a fit 🔥
Nick Fury
These monotone idiots know just how to ruin emotional beats and talk through all of it
clark
To be honest i like synder's version of superman better than the happy bumbling idiotic superman because he's not realistic
Snyder's version showed us what a good person with superman powers would go through and experience in real life but people prefer these days prefer nostalgia over quality....
Next movue is batman vs superman ultimate edition
#Snider... give us more krypton and the story of Jor el n zods relationship!
Clark Kent
Seva Superman
Te dije clark es muy fuerte
fire your editor. You did this entire movie a disservice
And these total idiots who are currently handling DC replaced Henry Cavil.
Clark es muy Fuerte
ella se enamora de clark
