Last I checked, Cavill said he was under contract to play Superman at least one more time. The movie that was just announced might hopefully be something different.
Michael Shannon (the guy that played General Zod) did such a good job in his portrayal. He revealed in interviews that he played it as if Zod was the actual hero in the film. Zod, the whole time, thought he was in the process of saving his world and Superman was standing in the way. Definitely an interesting way to play it and, once you see it from that perspective, you start to understand how that turned into a great performance.

20:00 “the DCEU doesn’t like to reveal their heroes are heroes” That’s because people in our modern world would freak out over an Amazon warrior, a Kryptonian, an Atlantean, etc. They would question their place in the universe and, in turn, would collectively not want them around. People are terrified of what they can’t comprehend.
I actually felt bad for zod a bit the way he said “now I have no people” pretty messed up being born for 1 purpose probably felt the whole race of his people on his shoulders
Fun fact: The scene were he steals the clothes was added when the director realized there wasn't enough eye candy in the movie. Henry had been working out so hard and so dehydrated that he collapsed when the director said "cut".
A bit better? Really? The theatrical version cuts out some of the most important elements that make the story have development, have character motivations, have COHERENCE. Yes its just half an hour and it's all near the begining, but it's not a bit better. It's a whole better. It's two whole's better. Without the extended material half the scenes don't make sense.
its so depressing finding this and having all the news of Henry losing Superman, and him leaving "The Witcher" because they're deviating from the source material. He's a fan of everything he's done so far in his career recently, and they always seem to throw away his great talent.
This is the best superhero movie because if you ever wondered what it would really be like to live in a world with ultrapowerful beings, well, this is what it would be like. They start mixing it up, and thousands of us end up dead.
I feel like Zod is one of the best "villians" in the DC movies (the live action), you can totally understand his purpose, like he says, he was born to protect Krypton, every cell of his body is made for that, soo he is doing everything in his power to complete the goal of hes creation. This doesnt mean i think what he did was rigth, it means i understand him, wanna clarify that before people get salty.
In answer to your question: It's Lana Lang who was on the bus in those scenes, and in the comics, Lana was Clark Kent's High School Sweetheart Lois Lane comes in later
Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane, is in a ton of movies. In fact, when Amy Adams was younger, she played a one-time character in an episode of Smallville. Little did we know then that she would play Lois Lane later. -OG
Russell Crowe's "They will join you in the sun" Monologue after superman crashed, imo is the best scene in the DCU. This film was so underrated at release. Turned out to be the best one.
Superman being able to just fly into space has always been one of the most amazing things to me. It doesn't even make sense that he doesn't need oxygen really. Maybe there is a limit to the time he can spend in the vacuum.
@@spikeysnack I found this explanation pretty satisfactory. "Superman flies in space for fun when he first discovers he can fly. ... Therefore, it is logical that Superman bypasses the need for oxygen because he primarily metabolizes sunlight, rather than food, and that his feats would consume more energy than food stores could ever provide"

Lana Lang is Superman's childhood love interest. Next you gotta watch Batman vs Superman - Dawn of Justice ultimate edition. You'll see Lex Luthor in that movie!
And Pete Ross is his childhood buddy. Except here, where Snyder references Superman's supporting cast, but never bothers to use them much because he really isn't at all interested in the Clark Kent side of Superman.
@@flatebo1 come on.. lots of early Clarke Kent stuff.. he just has a lot to do in one movie to make an entertaining movie. And he did a superlative job. The nods and references were good.
My favorite Superhero. The kind-hearted boy from Kansas and the heart of the DC universe. Just a guy trying to do the right thing, yet inspire the world, (even the other heroes in his world) to be the best person they can be.
10:28 “The mom is…very pretty.” That’s Diane Lane, and yes, at 48 she was (and is still) spectacular. Her filmography is worth looking up, even (maybe even especially) her very first film, A Little Romance, which she did at 14 (and which also stars Sir Laurence Olivier).
Amy Adams is a superb actress who I first encountered in Junebug a sedate mid-level picture. She was also in the sequel to Cruel Intentions and ironically was in an episode of Smallville. She also starred in American Hustle, Arrival and had a memorable role as Leo Dicaprio's Louisiana wife in Catch Me if You Can.
It low key blew my mind to find out that Alison Mack from Smallville, the girl whose forever friend zoned by Clark and acts as his Brainiac bff "i forget her name", was in a sex cult.
Yeah it's a shame the character was great and now it's essentially untouchable. When Man of steel came out I argued that this movie would have been so much better if they had just made Amy Adams character be Chloe instead and dropped the romantic subplot.
Amy Adams = Six Oscar Nominations. The romance between S and LL is always difficult. He is just too powerful for the usual romance chemistry mechanisms to work. In films, where you only have a short time this is often about learning to live with and accept your partners flaws & weaknesses.
While I 100% agree that Amy Adams is a phenomenal actress, I also agree with Mary that something about how she and Cavill were directed here didn't quite work for their chemistry or their budding relationship. Compare this with the Lois/Superman scenes in the original film, and it's night and day.
Adams is a great actress but this is not one of her best performances. Mary should watch AMERICAN HUSTLE with Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, and Christian Bale.
Amy Adams is a stellar actor .. she may not be to your liking in this movie but check out "Arrival" and the show "Sharp Objects" .. she's simply amazing .. have you ever watched The Count of Monte Christo? that's the first time I saw Henry Cavill and have been a fan ever since ..
I've always enjoyed this movie, even if many did not. My favorite part is Jor El's monologue when Clark flies for the first time. Superman embodies hope and an ideal to strive towards. If you like Superman, I would 100% recommend checking out 1978 Superman. It's the template that all the big superhero movies have been based off of. It's also got a masterpiece score from John Williams. Also, it can't be repeated enough to stay far away from the Joss Whedon Justice League. Snyder Cut is the one to watch.
Just subscribed... you are a precious angel! I loved this so much! And, you're not the only one who gets pissed at them wrecking buildings....Batman vs Superman. Peace and Love and God Bless!
It's kinda funny how Kevin Costner plays Clark's dad and at the time it was like "oh wow Kevin Costner's playing Clark's dad" but now nobody knows who he is LOL
@Mary Cherry: you are going to love the Zack Snyder-directed DC films! They are emotionally honest and real, not just because of the realistic element but because it portrays our actual world accurately and how the iconic DC superheroes live in it. Man of Steel is a tale of identity for Clark Kent to figure out who he truly is, what he will become and how he will use his potential. I won’t give spoilers about BVS or ZSJL, but I will say this; Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice is a tale of redemption, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a tale of legacy
If you look closely frame by frame, during the slow motion close up of his face that you commented on, Zach Snyder inserted a frame of Christopher Reeve.
Mary cherry I am such a fan of yours and I've actually watched this video a couple of times but Amy Adams if you watch the fighter and Enchanted you will definitely be a fan of Amy Adams😂 oh and SNL Penelope😂
This entire reaction has me shook at the lack of basic Superman knowledge. And the Amy Adams as Lois Lane slander? I CANNOT. The woman is a six time Oscar nominee. Also Cavill is pronounced like GAVEL.
Always nice to see more people get into the awesome story of Superman! BTW: Lana Lang and Clark grew up together in Smallville. His first love. (A big part of his early years, not so much later) He does not meet Lois until he moves to Metropolis and starts working for the Daily planet (originally).
The scene where he killed Zod had so much meaning behind it. He had been wondering is whole life who he was and where he came from. He finally faces his people. All of a sudden he finds himself having to make a decision between the Kryptonians--his people--or the humans who have made his life hell day by day. Not only was Zod the first person he killed, but he was the last of Kal's people...
In fact, "The Matrix" stole the idea of artificial womb babiess from John Byrne's miniseries "The World of Krypton" in 1987, almost 11 years before the movie was done.
How did you not realize it was Henry Cavill? When they pulled your wisdom teeth, they pulled all the wisdom didn't they? j.k. SuperMan always holds back.
Watching your reactions was absolutely joyful , they were so pure and hilarious at the same time , to see this movie thru your eyes made it that much more enjoyable.Btw I’m a trucker lots of us aren’t dodgy lol.
I remember a criticism was Lois Lane figuring out Clark Kent is Superman. The defense has always been Lois is always taking the extra mile as a Daily Planet reporter; of course she’s gonna figure it out. It proves how intelligent and useful she is.

When you get to Batman v Superman, watch the extended edition (dubbed the ultimate edition). A little longer than the theatrical cut, but a bit better
I convinced my dad to do the same as in the theatre I was completely confused for most of it; extended edition actually has a plotline to follow!
Just a bit.
After Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition, watch Suicide Squad (extended cut), Wonder Woman, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
@@ricardo_sotorbs True. Theatrical version is meh. It doesn't explain the story. The story is what matters.
its so depressing finding this and having all the news of Henry losing Superman, and him leaving "The Witcher" because they're deviating from the source material. He's a fan of everything he's done so far in his career recently, and they always seem to throw away his great talent.

Superman being able to just fly into space has always been one of the most amazing things to me.
It doesn't even make sense that he doesn't need oxygen really. Maybe there is a limit to the time he can spend in the vacuum.
Superman gets powers from the yellow sun. Different colored stars affect him differently. Red suns take away his powers, blue ones enhance them.

I would have been there just for her too.😂
Yeah it's a shame the character was great and now it's essentially untouchable. When Man of steel came out I argued that this movie would have been so much better if they had just made Amy Adams character be Chloe instead and dropped the romantic subplot.
Sentencing will be this june.
Chloe Sullivan
Amy Adams = Six Oscar Nominations. The romance between S and LL is always difficult. He is just too powerful for the usual romance chemistry mechanisms to work. In films, where you only have a short time this is often about learning to live with and accept your partners flaws & weaknesses.
While I 100% agree that Amy Adams is a phenomenal actress, I also agree with Mary that something about how she and Cavill were directed here didn't quite work for their chemistry or their budding relationship. Compare this with the Lois/Superman scenes in the original film, and it's night and day.
I really enjoy Adams work but i always thought she was a little miscast here. 🤷♂️ just my opinion though
Adams is a great actress but this is not one of her best performances. Mary should watch AMERICAN HUSTLE with Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, and Christian Bale.

Lana Lang and Clark grew up together in Smallville. His first love. (A big part of his early years, not so much later)
He does not meet Lois until he moves to Metropolis and starts working for the Daily planet (originally).
