@jobymanuel1353 I read somewhere not too long ago that it's the scene in flashbacks within the first 15 minutes or so of when the TBird and his crew are raping Shelly. They originally show FunBoy, shooting Eric, after Tin Tin throws his knife at him as he walks into the loft carrying groceries. You can see Funboy's arm at the very end of one of those flashbacks with his arm and hand going back down to his side , in a way some people might do after firing a gun at someone or something. I'm pretty sure that was a portion of the scene that was originally planned You're correct on the fact that it's Funboy just not the personal scene when Eric kills him. I always thought it was that scene as well until I recently read otherwise.
Devil's Night was an actual informal event that occurred in Detroit every year on October 30th, involving rampant vandalism and arson. It happened for many decades and resulted in hundreds of fires every year, the worst in 1984 at over 800 fires. One of the reasons Detroit was a common joke as one of the worst cities was because of this event. Since the mid-90s, several community outreach programs got together to curb the event, with volunteers patrolling the streets of Detroit. Theur efforts eventually led to the decline of Devil's Night in recent years. Last i checked, 2021 had the lowest number of arsons at only 3 structure fires.
IIRC, it was also discovered that a lot of the fires were landlords doing insurance fraud. That's right, they risked people's lives for an extra buck. Classic landlords.

The Crow is a story drenched in pain from the very start. James O'Barr wrote the Crow Graphic Novel as a way to cope after the death of his Girlfriend/Fiancée Killed by a Drunk Driver. O'Barr's own hope that his project would result in a personal catharsis went unfulfilled. During an interview in 1994, he said, "as I drew each page, it made me more self-destructive, if anything... There is pure anger on each page".
Nearly twenty-five years ago I originally watched "The Crow" on cable TV, just a few years ago I finally got to watch James O'Barr talking on a DVD special feature about his sad and lonely life, before and after his tragic loss. What I learned broke my heart
“People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right.”
This is a movie that 100% nails its tone and vibe. The lighting, writing, acting, the shots, the animal work... Everything is 100% on point. It's hard to get a harder gothic vibe than a swordfight at night on top of a church in a lightning storm.
This is set in Detroit, and Devil’s Night was a real thing in the 80s and 90s, where people would set fire to abandoned buildings in Detroit the night before Halloween. I’m not sure if it still happens though...

I think the mask was part of classic Greek theater, tragedy vs. comedy, something that Eric, Shelley, or both of them had been interested in. I also think that the makeup had been Shelley's. By putting it on, Eric was bringing a part of her as he went after their killers.
@@brittanygidley1291And do a crappy job of it. I didn’t watch the new one and don’t plan on it. If they wanted to do the Crow, they should have chosen a different setting.
This movie means so much to me and a few of my closest friends. Every October 30 I watch this and with them when I can. This has been our routine for 30 years and I love watching young people see this movie for the first time.
The Crow is Brandon Lee's movie. Brandon is the Crow. They should never have even thought of remaking this movie. Those of us that went and seen this in 1994, will probably never give a new one a chance.
This movie hit us so good back in the day and so rad some of us as little ass kids dressed up as draven 2 consecutive halloweens in a row. "nothing is trivial" :D
Top dollars club doesn’t have one house band many different bands play at the club. And Eric’s band was one of the many that played there. His band’s picture on the wall was one of many pictures on the wall of all the bands that played there.
@Snyper1405 . The way this particular original is..to me, there will never be another that will top it.. in theory, a possibility to match it.. only never top it. I don't personally think it can be matched..just my way of looking at it
There is absolutely no way they can remake this movie, it has too much meaning, heart and history and being Brandon Lees last movie...they should have left this masterpiece alone! But hey...it can't rain all the time!
It was only 3 days left in filming when the fatal shot was fired, it was fun boy who pulled the trigger he almost commited suicide over it it wasn't a bullet, it was a blank and the paper wadding came out with enough velocity to be fatal when it hit brandon this movie let to current laws on firearm handling on set just came out the main inspector on rust is the one that loaded a live round into the gun he's been indicted
Actually, the head of a dummy round (bullet with no powder) got lodged in the barrel. The gun wasnt properly checked and cleared, an reloaded with a blank (powder but no bullet head). The explosion of the blank cartridge fired the lodged dummy head just like a full .44 live round, hitting Brandon and severing an artery.
Fact: I was borned and raised in Detroit in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's and the night before Halloween was always known as Devil's Night. That's where this movie is supposed to take place. In the original cut of the Film Detroit is mentioned once, but in the late 2000's Detroiter's started referring to it as Angel's Night. 100's of fires were always set on this night and we were always scared our house would get set on fire. It was always a dark night in Detroit.
I think a lot of people don't understand just how much this movie changed the pop culture of the 90s. From the look/feel to the music it was nothing short of amazing. RIP Brandon
There is more to the crow not just the other movies but a series of books and comics that delve further into the lore of what the Crow is and what is the reason for Eric Draven and others to be returned to avenge what happened to them and their loved ones.
Rapid Fire, laser mission and showdown in little tokyo were aslo great Brandon Lee movies and the crow was his final movie, I know he would have been extremely great in other movies had he survived this film
(At 7:05) He just came back from the dead of year later with little to no memory about how he dies. THIS and the three sequels after this do the exact same thing with the crow guiding them back, motivated them for revenge.
The reason you see gor brandon & eliza at the end of the movie is that brandon & his fisncee` were supposed to be married on the day after filming was completed.
THE CROW is based on a graphic novel. The author wrote and illustrated it as a way of coping with the guilt over the death of his girlfriend. It was a stormy night and she was hit and killed by a drunk driver on the way to pick him up from work.
As this is one of my favorite movies as a teenager growing up I must compliment You guys. I have seen a lot of simple and dumb reactions from people on this movie but You guys ask astute questions and I just wanted to let You know it is appreciated. Thank You truly!
This CLASSIC takes place in a dystopian Detroit during " Devils Night " which is a real tradition of the most macabre sort, in real-life. T-Bird mentions Lake Erie, and also states : " which one of you Motor City MFers wants to bet this one isn't?? " during the scene in the bar, something to that effect. Great reaction and I thank you, sincerely, for keeping the legacy alive!!! 👊🏻🤲🏻😎
it's so sweet to see these newbies experience this hauntingly beautiful movie for the first time. Wish I could go back to 1994 and see it again for the first time.
James OBarr the guy who wrote the comic doesn’t know his birthday because his mom was drunk when she had him and the cops found him. He grew up in the Detroit child system and his fiancé was killed by a drunk driver while coming to pick him up. He joined the USMC and planned to kill the guy who ran over his fiancé but found out he was already dead. He wrote The Crow out of pure hurt and rage. Brandon Lee knew the book so well he could recite it to James, when Brandon died on set he blamed himself. This movie is so much deeper than people know
Badass movie, wasn't it 🙂I saw this in the theater when it came out so fucking cool I'm really glad yall watched it MoonPop 😎Awesome show 👏 Keep up the terrific work 👌 👏 👍 😀
It was all the pain Shelly felt that he got from Albrecht since he stayed with her in the hospital that Eric absorbed and transferred to him with the pain and suffering
Devil’s night was NOTHING like ‘The Purge’ A heavy number of arson fires is very different from unmitigated murder without repercussion by the law. The fires were mainly set in abandoned buildings, for which Detroit had/has a ton. I grew up there from ‘86 - ‘99. P.S. The Detroit city limits is HUGE! You can fit Boston, Manhattan and San Francisco within its borders without overlap. It’s one of the main reasons it went downhill and is having difficulty rising again. The city government can’t provide or maintain its infrastructure and grounds/city services.
Eric Draven was a street punk who turned his life around becoming the lead guitarist of an up and coming band Crows (Eric) powers - enhanced strength - enhanced speed - enhanced senses - catlike agility and reflexes - healing/immortality (as long as the crow is alive) - empathy - psychometry - can see what the crow sees
Devil's Night was a real thing in Detroit, there used to be like 300 fires that night. There might be a handful of fires in the city now, they cleaned up the city a lot. This is a fictionalized version of Detroit. Also, Lake Erie did not catch fire. The Cuyahoga River, in Ohio, caught fire. The Cuyahoga River feeds into Lake Erie. The river caught fire, not the actual lake.
This is one of my all time favorite movies! It's based on a graphic novel of the same name. Sadly, Brandon Lee was killed in an on set accident during the making of the film. 😢 Always love seeing people's reaction to this awesome movie!👍
Brandon had done a couple of smaller films before this (check out Rapid Fire & Showdown in Little Tokyo - Dolph Lungren stars with him in that) that were pretty good, but before tragedy struck this was set to catapult his career right up, as it is, its a film with a tragic history that came from a graphic novel that was borne out of tragedy. Other incidents (sometimes fatal) have also happened on sets of the sequels and the TV series. Absolutely banging cast though - Top Dollar (Mike Wincott) you'll have seen as Guy of Gisburne in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves & Alien Resurrection, and at the end you've got Ernie Hudson fighting Tony Todd, a Ghostbuster vs Candyman!
For those who are wondering about TBird's car It's a 1973 Ford Thunderbird that's been muscled out I bought a 1972 Thunderbird that I had planned to do the same to. Plans of that fell through and I sold the car 72 and 73 were about identical except that the side windows in the back weren't there on the 72 which to me was even better If you're not needing to be the fastest out there and want something that not too many muscle car enthusiasts pick to work on, that car would be a nice car
I assume someone said this already but, this is Bruce Lee's son who was shot and killed during the filming of this movie. Brandon and his father are two my idols, along with STAN lee...the face of irony ( thats the mask in this)
You assumed right,. It is all in a night, as the legend tells, and he can only use his powers until the murders(4) are dead, then returns to the afterlife before sunrise. Top Dollar was against the rules( working for the living, its called)
26:10 That's a Calico pistol with a 50 round drum which loads from the top. My version is the 3rd generation with a muzzle compensator which is absent on Tony Todd's model. Looks really cool and very fun to shoot but I wouldn't trust my life with it.
I think it takes place in Detroit and I would have done well moved from such a place. This is one of my all-time favorite movies! Great revenge story and love story!
Cool fact not many pay attention too....if you watch the female singing band playing. They pan to the guitarist and the guitar with a blood spot. That was Draven's guitar that was pawned and sold and the guitarist used it for that gig they played. Also if you pause it at the right moment when funboy gets shot you can see the thin fishing line that pops the blood packs to make it look like he is shot. Also sad fact about funboy...the actor who played him commited suicide later after hating himself for being the one who killed brandon lee even though it was pure failure on the part of the ones who check the guns and safety. Also one of my coolest times in life was i actually got to hold and meet the main crow that was trained and starred in the movie (they had 3 crows for the movie) and it kept coming closer to my face (wanted more security in knowing it wouldnt slide off my shoulder so it was so close to face) i was a bit scared but can say i did that when not many can say they experienced that in life.
It’s set in Detroit. I don’t think I noticed the fires on Devil’s Night. We lived in one of the nicer suburbs, but rioters were constantly trying to burn the city down. They also had Happy Devil’s Night cards.

Im sorry I'm really not trying to be mean and i understand in a reaction video talking is involved but when your just blurting out dumb comments and even worse questions is very annoying. It's like you watched the movie but if someone were to ask you a question about the movie you would'nt have a clue. I'm atleast hoping you watched it at some point before or after your reaction. The city is supposed to be Detroit. As a Michigander, I didn't know until I was a full adult that calling it Devil's Night was a regional thing, lol. It apparently started in Detroit in the 30's, known as Mischief Night, doing pranks and like mild vandalism (i.e. egging) and then it warped into arson and more serious crimes in the 70's, continuing on into the 90's. Local neighborhood groups were integral to cutting down on the arsons and it has gotten way better. We still call it Devil's Night, tho.

It's hard to get a harder gothic vibe than a swordfight at night on top of a church in a lightning storm.
agreed!
This is set in Detroit, and Devil’s Night was a real thing in the 80s and 90s, where people would set fire to abandoned buildings in Detroit the night before Halloween.
I’m not sure if it still happens though...
No. There might maybe a handful of fires on Devil's night now. It's nothing like it used to be, they cleaned up the city a LOT.
@@deannamarie8389 which is good I’m glad that they cleaned up the city now and it’s not a whole crappy match like any other small town or big town and I believe it’s for the best
This soundtrack is one of my favorite albums of all time. I wore the CD out back in the 90s. :P
I always love seeing people watch this blind for the first time
I'm so pump that a new generation of film goers are going to comeback to this film the influences in later films can seen throughout the film
Fun fact: the big black guy with glasses is Tony Todd (Candyman) 😁🙌🏽🌠❤️👻🩸🔪🐝
"Believe in me. Be my victim."
I think the mask was part of classic Greek theater, tragedy vs. comedy, something that Eric, Shelley, or both of them had been interested in.
I also think that the makeup had been Shelley's. By putting it on, Eric was bringing a part of her as he went after their killers.
And they have the nerve to do a remake of this movie .
i know i’m tired did the remakes. they don’t have anything else to come up with so they use our shit
@@brittanygidley1291And do a crappy job of it. I didn’t watch the new one and don’t plan on it. If they wanted to do the Crow, they should have chosen a different setting.
In the 90s, every goth teen had The Crow posters, shirts, and makeup.
And dress as Crow on Halloween..
This movie means so much to me and a few of my closest friends. Every October 30 I watch this and with them when I can. This has been our routine for 30 years and I love watching young people see this movie for the first time.
thats amazing !!
They didnt know who Amelia Earhart was lol
To make a scattershot of stolen wedding rings is so poetic.
The Crow is Brandon Lee's movie. Brandon is the Crow. They should never have even thought of remaking this movie. Those of us that went and seen this in 1994, will probably never give a new one a chance.
Brandon Lee was amazing in this role. Man the way he took out Tin Tin with his own knife, crazy cool!
Great reaction👏
It was so awesome!!!!
This is arguably the first gothpunk movie rest in peace to the actor brandon Lee past away making this film
Hes alive as long as it takes to track all of them down and get payback and after he gets his payback he gets to go and be with shelly forever
This movie hit us so good back in the day and so rad some of us as little ass kids dressed up as draven 2 consecutive halloweens in a row. "nothing is trivial" :D
This is a cult classic. Absolutely love it since I first watched it 20 years ago. So glad others are enjoying it.
Top dollars club doesn’t have one house band many different bands play at the club. And Eric’s band was one of the many that played there. His band’s picture on the wall was one of many pictures on the wall of all the bands that played there.
You say creepy. I think the word you're looking for is atmospheric. Amazing visual and sound design.
Yes all those things were perfect
Brandon Lee killed it in this role... Just perfect. Don't know how the remake will top this.
Let’s hope for the best
It won't
You can never top the original
Examples: The Terminator, Roadhouse, Jurassic Park, Superman 😊🙌🏽🌠🙆🏽♂️💞🎬🔥
@Snyper1405 . The way this particular original is..to me, there will never be another that will top it.. in theory, a possibility to match it.. only never top it. I don't personally think it can be matched..just my way of looking at it
@tileux hmm yes we now and rip to Brandon Lee but hoping that the new movie can live up to the 94 version is not a bad thing
There is absolutely no way they can remake this movie, it has too much meaning, heart and history and being Brandon Lees last movie...they should have left this masterpiece alone! But hey...it can't rain all the time!
T-Bird is played by David Patrick Kelly. Among other roles, he’s most well known for playing Luther from ‘The Warriors’; 🎵Warriors, come out to play🎵
One of the best soundtracks of the 90s
Please check out Rapid Fire also starring Brandon but it shows a lot more of his martial arts skills he learned from his Dad!!!
Sadly, Brando passed on set... RIP Brandon "Bruce" Lee❤
@XhanderMarino-u3k true it is somewhat Erie how the plot of the movie & his life sorta parallel at points
This is a great movie and definitely ahead of it’s time. From the visuals to the soundtrack, it’s so cool. Brandon Lee did an outstanding job as well.
The 30hrs of pain....was what officer Albrecht went thru as he watched Shelly suffer and die, knowing there was nothing he could do for her.
Actually it's the 30 hours of pain that Shelly suffered through
Yep, its Shelly’s pain, he just gained it through Albrechtks memories
The mask is tragedy. The twin masks of shakespeare were comedy and tragedy. So.... you get it
“Stop me if you’ve heard this one…”
-The Crow
“No onions though… They make you f*rt big time!”
-The Sarah monster
I watch it for the 1st time in the theater for it's 30th anniversary it was amazing
Good ups.
Dark 90's aesthetic? Vampires? So you'll be doing Blade 1998 soon.
Love this film, great soundtrack too!
Devil’s night was NOTHING like ‘The Purge’
A heavy number of arson fires is very different from unmitigated murder without repercussion by the law.
RIP Brandon Lee March 31, 1993.
Eric Draven was a street punk who turned his life around becoming the lead guitarist of an up and coming band
Crows (Eric) powers
- enhanced strength
- enhanced speed
- enhanced senses
- catlike agility and reflexes
- healing/immortality (as long as the crow is alive)
- empathy
- psychometry
- can see what the crow sees
💯
I watch it for the first time in theaters yesterday it was amazing
Remember that old saying, "as the crow flies", quite relevant to the movie in a metaphysical way.
For those who are wondering about TBird's car
It's a 1973 Ford Thunderbird that's been muscled out
I bought a 1972 Thunderbird that I had planned to do the same to.
Plans of that fell through and I sold the car
72 and 73 were about identical except that the side windows in the back weren't there on the 72 which to me was even better
If you're not needing to be the fastest out there and want something that not too many muscle car enthusiasts pick to work on, that car would be a nice car
I assume someone said this already but, this is Bruce Lee's son who was shot and killed during the filming of this movie. Brandon and his father are two my idols, along with STAN lee...the face of irony ( thats the mask in this)
Y’all should read the graphic novel. It’s amazing. You get more of an explanation of his connection to the crow.
You assumed right,. It is all in a night, as the legend tells, and he can only use his powers until the murders(4) are dead, then returns to the afterlife before sunrise. Top Dollar was against the rules( working for the living, its called)
My bad,I have to correct MYSELF: a 24hr period, not sunrise
The most recent thing that I am aware of that the actor who played Top Dollar was in was the movie “Nope”.
You may recognise him in the movie (along came a spider) starring Morgan freeman and monica potter
He did an amazing job in "Alien:Ressurection".
26:10 That's a Calico pistol with a 50 round drum which loads from the top. My version is the 3rd generation with a muzzle compensator which is absent on Tony Todd's model. Looks really cool and very fun to shoot but I wouldn't trust my life with it.
"Sara I do care" 30 years later and that makes me cry every time.
My top 3 favorite movie.. Can watch every day 😊😊first time was watch 1995 in cinema, 15 years old and was so scary movie for me then
Brandon lee was suppose to get married one month after the making of the crow In April 1994
That’s sad 😔
“This is the really for real world! There ain’t no comin back.”
Michael Massee who played Funboy died of stomach cancer at cedars sinai hospital.
The crow was to bring justice to shelly Eric saved Sarah by saving his mom then actually saving her
It’s set in Detroit. I don’t think I noticed the fires on Devil’s Night. We lived in one of the nicer suburbs, but rioters were constantly trying to burn the city down. They also had Happy Devil’s Night cards.
Amé su reacción. Prestaron atención a los detalles, realmente se sumergieron en la película sin intentar pasarse de listos o ser protagonistas ni sobrereaccionando. Los felicito, saludos.
7:17
This scene is hilarious! Has she NEVER eaten a hotdog before?
😂
If you look up Devil’s Night in Detroit in the late 80’s or early 90’s you will see the inspiration for the events that are depicted in the movie.
Thanks for the reaction to my favorite movie.
No problem 😊
In my opinion, The Crow, and the True Romance are the best movies about true love.
Yes the cop already knows it's going to be a rough night in the city it explained at the start of the movie the night before Halloween is called Devil's night. Again sorry if i am being mean and insulting. We all have our own opinions and mine is your not the kind of reactors i can watch anything with. Good luck to you both
The city is supposed to be Detroit.
My favorite movie... I didn't expect anything less. Greetings
That was fuckin great! I loved how much you guys enjoyed this classic!!! This still a better BatMan than anybody else has made so far. Sad, strange and true.
Loved this movie. Our band just released a cover of "Dead Souls" from the original sound track.
Oh that’s so cool!
"Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children."
- William Makepeace Thackeray
That’s deep!
