By the way, this episode was recorded before the Pixelborn announcement; As you can imagine, we're all very sad to hear the news :( Nevertheless, we don't plan to let it impact the podcast moving forward and will keep delivering weekly content.

I often think of cards in terms of packages of cards with similar roles or effects. From there I choose the ratio of cards I want within that group. It often results in 4/2 or 3/1 type splits of cards. The reality is that we just can't actually get the reps needed to determine optimal card counts so you're always going to be playing it by feel or theory on some level.
It was nice meeting Savjz and Brendan. I'm shocked that anyone thought Brendan was small in any way. I walked away thinking I need to hit the gym.
Laughing at the Earlmeister comment. We matched up in round 8 (tied of course) and he talked about the exact same thing. I was in Amber Steel hell for a while due to some early ties. I suspected most Amber Steel mirrors were 1-1. Of the five I had (yes, five), four were 1-1 and I managed to 2-0 one. Joined Earlmeister with a 1-0-8 record. Proud undefeated Amber Steel player :-p

Just about recovered from games expo, What a great event. Good times had and it was a pleasure chatting with Kawa about the state of the game.
With the addition of Ariel into Blue Steel they seem to have flipped the match up against Ruby Sapphire. I decided to play Ariel in my own Ruby Sapphire list on Saturday and Sunday and she did a lot of work in several match ups.
Maybe this is the way along with the return of Tremain to get the match up back in favour of Ruby Sapphire. I do think the list needs to evolve going forward to maintain control of the format. Will be interesting to see how it does so.
It was nice meeting you in person Brendan just before the start of round 5. Being x-2 after round 4 definitely had that same feeling of dropping but pulled out the same 42 point result as well in the end 🙃
It was nice to briefly chat with you in ATL, Brendan! I was the crazy Blue Steel player on 63 cards 😇, and I can confirm some Blue Steel players had a cake walk to Day 2. I was 5-0-4 in Swiss and played 0 Ruby Sapphire until top 64 where I was quickly knocked out 🙃. Hope to see you in Dallas!
Link your decklist if you can, I'm a Blue/Steel stan, since day 1 I wish i could've gone to ATL.
As a YGO player, hearing some of the takes on deckbuilding or tournament stories is pretty interesting.

Quick Question for spilled ink: why isn't Franks Challenege winning deck called Squealsong? Piglet is such a great addition.

I played Moyen round 8 and asked if I win game 1 if he could concede game 2, because nobody benefited from a draw. I get you do not like that, but on they other hand, I had difficult matches all day, where as a friend had 2 no shows (14 points!). So I felt like I would rather have Moyen or myself get an extra promo, rather than somebody who might have been given points for free. Nevertheless, was my first tourney and it made sense at the time.
I ran Ruby/Sapphire in ATL and 2-0 first match vs Steelsong, then it was down hill got matched vs 5 green decks. I tied vs the steel/green and lost vs all purple/green. Saw no mirror, which I'm pretty comfortable with.
Question for spilled ink: When do you buy your cards? Wait a week after big box stores get product or?
Question for spilled ink: Do you guys think, especially in context of Disney IP which should be family friendly, that Ravensburger will make some kind of code of conduct? What I mean by that is enhancing some ways of interacting like being kind and polite. For example in large events of miniature game like Middle Earth SBG there are even prizes for best sportmanship behaviour! As always pleasure to listen to you!
Played in world tournaments. Player error happens as we are not perfect. Monday night quarter backing isn’t the same as a player under stress. It is also up to both players to keep an honest game state.
Have you guys been trying the 2 drop 3/2 Cruella along with Brawl in Ruby Sapphire as the tech against Diablo and Pegasus? This past week as long as i had an answer to Diablo I was not as worried about bucky because i had sheer draw and scry power in Ruby Sapphire.
I was in the same draft line as Brendan (I was on table 8, we had 6 people instead of 8 so we had a larger card selection). It sucked. That was my first draft in Lorcana. Took way too long to get started.
What are your thoughts on adding a sideboard to Lorcana.
Green Steel link not working?
Is it just me, or do most of the decks posted have an incredibly high number of uninkables?
Did they actually not talk about the surprise Amber Amethyst deck that won Atlanta?
What’s your opinion on keeping or sending back One Jump Ahead when playing Ruby/Sapphire on the draw vs an Emerald/Steel deck?
Had a debate about this recently with friends. OJA on turn 2 is the best possible opener, but Ursula is a threat to ruin your day.. Do you keep OJA if you open with it in hand?

The more games the better chances that good players have to win. It's kind of like baseball when the 162-game season gets turned into a 5-game playoff run. Sometimes great teams ('01 Mariners 116-46) get unlucky.
There was a rumor early on that Ravensburger had designed cards for as long as 5 years in advance. Like most rumors you take it with a grain of salt.

What’s the best way to improve your game if you have limited free time?
1. Play the game
2. Watch high skill players play the game
3. Listen to high skill players talk about the game
4. Some mix of the above
Pokémon does 2 days Swiss cut to larger top cut also. I wanna say 32?
I ran one queen of hearts 5 cost in lille as its not always relevant and I can ink it if needed but the deck draws alot so it just gives you another option. I drew 3 cards from it twice during the event in one turn. I also ran two hydra, it's uninkabke so can't play more and it wants to be played mid game with not too much on the board so no need to have loads of copies, it was really card of the event for me though, steel decks really over paid to clear it, Pinocchio allows me to attack and I'll two things, against turbo aggro is just cleared everything they played (I had to survive to turn 6 still). Only your core package of inkabkes are 4 copies and even then its not always the case.
On the 60 card deck I also played 4 copies of follow me which was mostly just to deck thin but against steel song added 1 drop characters back and ruin their draws, same with red blue removing items and putting ramp in like one jump ahead that's not useful anymore for them
As a top 64 sapphire steel player at Lille, I can definitely say I did not dodge the Ruby Sapphire in swiss and I definitely did not cruise into top cut 😅
Atlanta was my first event and I bubbled out with 44 points 5-1-3, The Sunday was actually so miserable for me😂 I just wish I playing games in the format I practiced for. As far as 2 game format goes it’s really not the end of the world. When you lose vs someone cuz you brick going 1-1 when you know you’d smoke them in game 3 is kind of a meh feeling. At the end of the day I did have fun. All of my opponents were good besides my round 9. Guy literally tried to cheat before the game even started then tried to cheat in game as well. Then riffle shuffles my completely foiled out deck 😂 2-0 sent him to hell so who cares
I feel they can only keep the 2game format if they change the points. If they did something more like 2-0 equals 3 points , 1-0 equals 2 points, and 1-1 equals 1 point then we wouldn't have the scenario of the last 4 rounds all being draws in. Last 2 rounds of a 9 round event with intentional draws is normal but seeing x-0-4 all making day 2 seems brutal

As a player that made top32 i only have 2 words as comment against these streamers: "GET GUUD" ....
I don't think there is a perfect list in Lorcana. The Game evolves so quickly that no deck can be perfect in my opinion.
I personally no longer play Fishbone Quill in my Ruby/Sapphire list and also play with 20 uninkables. I run other ramp options instead. But haven't figured out what I want to do in set 4 yet. It's all what you are comfortable with.
2 game format is awful it is just bad and is sacky
I'm sure it's been said. I'm going to also say it. I believe savyj unintentionally 'cheated ' during one of his recorded games.
The problem I'm having, as an objective observer, is that, savyj successfully performed the task seconds before correctly. And then, he fumbled by not inking one of the two cards and putting both directly into his hand and IMMEDIATELY inking a maui.
It seems incredibly odd. Ultimately, I'm rewarding him plausible deniabilitity. Which, socially, is not often full forgiveness. But, it means, we collectively will not hold him accountable for his mistake.
Savyk IS NOT a cheater. Even the best players sincerely need to RTFC
