The TRUTH About Auto Stop-Start System (Nobody Talks About)
Learn why auto start-stop systems in modern vehicles are causing serious concerns among professional mechanics and vehicle owners. In this comprehensive guide, you'll discover the hidden costs and potential damage these fuel-saving features can inflict on your engine, starter, and battery.
A start-stop system is a feature in modern cars that automatically shuts off your engine when you're fully stopped - like at a red light or in traffic - and then fires it back up when you're ready to move. Think of it like your car taking a quick power nap to save gas whenever you're not moving.
The engine turns off when you hold the brake, and springs back to life when you let off the brake or hit the gas. It's supposed to help with fuel economy and emissions, especially in city driving where you do a lot of stopping and starting. To handle all this starting and stopping, these cars need beefier starters and special batteries, which is where some of the problems start coming in.

CVT Transmission Pros and Cons: Shocking Facts

CVT Transmission Pros and Cons: Shocking Facts
I bought a 2014 Civic LX for $6000 cash with a CVT. Car could barely move when cold. A week later, watching TH-cam, I learned that the transmission plug might have fallen out and all the fuild poured out because of a clogged breather valve. YUP. Cleaned out the breather hose; then I ordered 8 quarts of Honda CVT oil, a new plug and put in 1 quart of trans oil. Civic ran great then after I added the one quart. Then I got the new oil, plug and found the old plug sitting on top of the transmission; just like the TH-cam video said it would be (WOW)! I drained the transmission and found there was only one quart of oil? That was the quart I put in a week ago. Refilled the trans til it came out the check oil level hole and that was that. I called the used car lot and told them the car was running great!! He paused for a moment and replied: "How is that possible?" So I told him. He was very mad and slammed the phone down and hung up on me. He sold me a lemon - for a third of its value. I'm just saying.
And worst for turbocharger
2015 Honda Accord EX-L 2.4 4cyl changes spark plugs and ignition coils, showing code misfire cylinder 4 also displays FCW system failure which was the original reason I changed the mentioned above HELP 🤔💭
The most useless system ever made.
The third method describes doing something different than what's shown, which makes it confusing. Do we depress the brake pedal or not? The verbal instructions don't mention the brake pedal. I hope something works on my '20 Impreza. Feels like it's dipping into a hole in "second" and have to give it more gas, and I've lost like 3mpg over the last couple months. It wants to stay at lower RPMs all the time and doesn't want to downshift unless you step on it.
Hello, i have a 2008 Toyota rush blinking o/d on the dashboard after like 15min of driving, very poor acceleration especially immediately after starting the car. It also streans alot before changing the gear. I've been to several mechanics with no help. Any advice i will appreciate.
unfortunately, some manufacturers (Audi for one in 2025) no longer allow the car driver to turn the start/stop off. Others require the star/stop to default to on every time the engine is turned off. So the driver has to hit the button to turn it off each time he/she starts the engine. So if start/stop is bad for that Audi turbo engine, will Audi cover the engine failure under warranty after the warranty expires? I think not.
I’m glad I ran into your video. I am ready to purchase a Hyundai Santa Fe 2025 that has a DCT which new concept for me. Thanks for making this video. When I get my Santa Fe, I will watch this video again. I have saved it.
My 96 dodge Dakota came like that with the egr deleted and i love it
My car turns way to steep and the steering wheel feels lose and it clicks when turning
Another option which was working for our Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 MY25 it was to inflate the tire with the engine running and watching at the TPMS screen. For the tires which were showing pressure with yellow fonts, we inflate at 37psi and it became white. We have used 37 psi as the petrol station was maybe 2km away from home and the other 2 tires were hot. TPMS alarm was gone and also the Service alarm. After I reached my destination and let the car rest for 2 h, when I restarted the car, tire pressure was 35. Which is the recommended pressure for my 21R tires. Problem solved and lesson learned!
My previous car had white smoke. It turned out one of the fuel injectors was bad.
Didn't spill a Drop. Awesome job dude!
Good to now
Are you also speaking of pressure regulators or just solenoid valves? Are the symptoms similar between the two? Does a pulse generator also create the same symptoms? Oh, BTW, the solenoid being changed in the video is a fuel filter 🙂
Gov. Ruined r gas so it cant b stored n large commodity no more my car sat for, well to long wont start, i pulled my carb apart n looks like mashed oatmeal n the damn float bowls n just rebuilt that sombitch not to long ago😢😢😢
In March 2013, I bought a 2003 Odyssey with a broken motor and a full tank of gas. I didn't get around to fixing it until September 2016. I drove it for weeks and when it got close to empty, I started carrying a gas can with me so I would have something to put in when it completely ran out of gas as I didn't want to mix the old gas with new. It ran PERFECTLY on that 42-month old gas. PERFECTLY. I'm not saying that gas will last indefinitely, but I can tell you that it will last at least 3-1/2 years.
My tire shop told me I should get new tires every year . Even if I don’t drive !😀
Hey thanks great info brother for me and my son
All this also applied to non turbo engine! If you want a longer engine life and less chances of running into problems, you need to take care of your car as mentioned in this video. It is just common sense.
This video was beautiful 😢
An ex colleague of mine used to think his car pulled better when i t was cold -.- It's a miracle his engine lasted, was not a cast iron block.
Robot voice makes me want to puke
How do you dispose properly of old gas? I have 20 gallons
dump it in your neighbors pool
Yes in less than a month it's chemical make-up changes for the worse.
Good transmissions can handle abuse for over 100k miles, and great ones over 200k miles. I'd be impressed with any CVT handling even 100k of abuse, even with 15k fluid changes.
I had severly worn out copper sparkplugs, but no check engine light, just struggling in steep hills. I agree with the injection cleaner, and Rislone is a high quality product.
This happened to my car 3 days ago. It was caused by a loose cable connection to the coils. Fixed that and changed the plugs and the flashing engine check light is gone.
Fuck me this has got to be it. I also have an issue with my VIAS solenoid/power valve, making large rattling noise when activated, gonna just replace that with a junkyard part too with brand new lines. God damn it dude fuck the intake on the vq35de. gonna go ahead and delete the throttle body cooling system as well (live in florida absolutely no need)
Wow very good video very clear explant thakns so much
Back in the 70's, I used gasoline in my minibike from a '37 Buick with '42 plates. Ran great. My father was in disbelief.
Can you make your call stall out ?
LOL , i pulled my homemade trike into a small town beer store a couple of years ago to pick up a half pint of everclear . the cashier / owner asked me if it was an octane booster . i used to distill approx 150 proof brandy and i still regret not trying to run a small engine with the stuff . alcohol displaces water so a half pint of everclear probably wouldnt hurt my trike engine one bit .
It's a scam set up by the EPA and dealership screwing we the people...
Thank you
Check dipstick at 1/2 point before change.
I use premium gas for small engines but it still has alcohol in it and it ruins anything carbureted. I use stabilizer but still it goes bad if it’s not used pretty quickly. I don’t believe in forcing us to use that garbage. Any possible benefit is wiped out by the cost of damage it does.
In some areas 😂
simple change your damn oil and filter twice a year
Oh yeah
These are all things that should be taught when learning to drive a manual gearbox car.
What about Diesel?
I drive most of the time at 2,000rpms would that be lugging the engine? I don’t see how I’d be going over 3 or 4 consistently on the highway its smooth driving. I wanna make the most of my car.
My diesel fuel is as good as new, And never will i ever have to buy a new lithium battery ever
My 2014 spark with the jatco jf015e made it to 198k miles before it started slipping. I have the trans completely taken apart in my shop right now. The flow control valve failed in the pump and caused by belt to slip. The main symptom was surging on the highway and shuddering upon pulling out.
There's a lot of controversy about changing ATF or not at all. It seems the consensus is that, if you plan to change it, do so about every 60K miles - or don't change it at all. Also, consensus seems to be do NOT flush the trans. A family member has an F-150 with 440,000 miles, and the ATF has never been changed. It still shifts normally. Also, check tire pressures cold. As far as engine oil, I would never exceed 5000 miles. No engine ever suffered from too-frequent oil and filter changes. It's cheap insurance.
10. Slipping the clutch too much / using too much gas when starting from a stop.
9. Letting your wife drive it. 😂
The more ethanol there is in it, the shorter the shelf life. It's hygroscopic and absorbs moisture or water from the environment.
Thanks for the advise, We have to make these precautions a daily habit 🤔
