If your vehicle is outside during a snowstorm get a shower curtain and cover the windshield. This will also cover the wipers. Hold it in place by folding the excess curtain inside the vehicle and then closing both front doors. For the side mirrors I’ve been using old supermarket plastic bags. I’ve done this for over 20 years. So far it has worked every single time.
What cracks me up about people who are stuck in a snow bank is how every one of them focuses their attention on the drive wheels - stones, cat litter, newspaper, etc. Very few think it through. The majority of the time it's the non-drive wheels that are holding them back. No one ever seems to REALLY clear the path in front and behind them. Once those are done then go to the drive wheels and focus your efforts there. I've done this for 35 years and it always works. I've helped a lot of people get out of snowbanks as well, most of whom are puzzled until they find themselves out. Then they see the obvious sense of it.
@@rogerridgway7083 Are you describing locking the wiper straight outward which he called his "first trick?" If so, why would you need the sock? Not sure what you mean by "locking the blades", but every car that I've owned had blades that will stay put if you move them as far away from the windshield as you can.

When the arm is pressed downward (past the toggle point), the spring holds the wiper against the windshield.

Canada, start vehicle, turn on defrost , let motor warm up, scrape ice off windows with ice scraper. That is the fast way .10 minutes later, you are on the road.
One more trick I learned last winter. When ice storm is coming in, cover the cab with a tarp or blanket. If you use a blanket be warned it will get heavy and harder to remove. But if that's all you got, use it. Both will keep ice from building up on the glass. Open one door a bit and tuck the tarp around the door putting the loose end inside, then shut the door. Drape the tarp over the door and across the windshield and other door, open that door and tuck the tarp inside and shut the door. The only thing that makes it difficult is wind so be ready for that.
The tarp is a great idea! I use a giant tarp too. I open the hatchback and tuck it in before closing, then I tuck it in tight in the open doors before closing them and I make sure that the windshield wipers are under it and the mirrors on the side. Super easy clean up. Pull the tarp to one side, all of the snow goes in that direction and I can clean it up later!

No, in most parts of the world, winter doesn't mean snow... But if you do live in a place blessed with real winter, here's one weird trick: Get a real car with 4 wheel drive, studded tires, engine heater, and a fresh battery. Success!
2:00 I live near Buffalo,(not telling u my actual address and stuff) and, I wear all of my knee high socks because if you live in my area, you know that winter can get pretty INTENSE. And VERY VERY VERY COLD. I’m surprised I haven’t gotten frostbite.
I live in the Yukon, I didn’t know half of these tips! My life is a frozen window every morning from October until April 😂 thanks bright side I’ll try out all these tips ASAP !
Don’t try these tips out. These things mostly can work. For example, putting a sock on a windshield wiper would get the sock stuck and basically wouldn’t even keep the wiper warm.
We are covering with snow right now with a 96% chance of snow throughout the day. We did had plan to do something today, but might not leave the house at all. It's sad because my son is driving back to work tomorrow, he's in the Air Force. Today is suppose to be a family fun day😪
How about just parking in the garage... As to the vinegar as a deicer, add baking soda till it stops foaming. The resulting acetate is a deicer commonly used to deice airplanes and roads, however household vinegar is only 5% vinegar so you won't get much deicer out of it. The cat litter doesn't work because it's bentonite clay and moisture causes it to become a slippery mud, you would have better results with uncooked rice or better yet buying traction aids and or studded winter tires.
If you are going to the effort of remembering to put vinegar on your windscreen to stop it freezing...its much easier just to get a frost shield and guaranteed to work, and wont damage paint or trim. Also, why mess about with rubbing alcohol, just buy some de-icer, its sold in most shops and is cheaper than rubbing alcohol (probably has that in it though). If I can stop my lights freezing by waxing them, why am I putting a bag on my mirrors, when I could just wax them?
I’ve used my floor mats one too many times. Lol. This year I will put a bag of kittie litter in my trunk. I have a four wheel drive but our snow is so wet here that even my truck has problems.
Judy Brown Thanks. People don’t get it. I was born in Alaska. The snow was fluffy and you could drive through several feet no problem. I now live in Kentucky. It’s so wet and compact here it’s like driving on ice always.
I never thought of the bags on the mirrors or cat litter in the vehicle under the seat. I know of the others. My mother told me about the car litter back in the mid 1970's. We would also use the ashes from the fireplace in the Winters 🥶 of Detroit! If it weren't for my ex-wife's and her family, I might still be in Mississippi where we were in 2010 and not be dealing with the extreme cold again! But life is always changing, so maybe I will be in a warmer climate again 1 day.

I had no idea..of any of this..I live in Florida. Interesting but wow made me shiver just thinking about a car that wont start, in those conditions. ❄⛄🔮
Bright side can you do a video about 11 simple dry skin tricks
Don't heat your key if u have a chip in or u can't start it
Leave a window slightly opened. This will prevent your windows from frosting. Trust me, I'm Canadian.
but snow will get in..even if slightly open..
Really??
@@bwc2000 DUH ! 🤣🤣
@@Kennedy1op You have to be kidding us. Seriously ?🤣🤣
2:52 - Why can't WD-40 be used to keep the complete car from freezing? Just apply it in the evening. Use WD-40 BLAST with the larger nozzle.
12. If you're car is not going to be used for a while hook up a trickle charger to the battery to keep it from being damaged.
I drive my car very little. I bought it in 2014 and have almost 5300 miles on it. I have had to charge the battery many times because I mostly drive my motorcycles in the spring, summer and fall. My car has a sticker under the hood to make sure to start it at least once a month. Never happens. I had a trickle charger/maintainer for all my bikes so I finally bought one for my car. It works.
"If you're car"? I have never heard of a person being a car. Are you a car?
@@pwndecaf Same here. I drive only once a week for most of the year, and that's not enough to keep the battery fully charged. Finally got a float charger a few months ago. Very helpful.
@@paulparoma The Internet Grammar & Typo police have arrived! Throw out your dangling participles and come out with your hands up!!! FYI,

Not so much a trickle charger as a battery maintainer. Many trickle chargers have a maintainer mode. Make sure yours does.
All those tips are very usefull
One year, -48 and my inside metal door handle broke on my hand. Just got to let things warm up if it's cold outside.
No, in most parts of the world, winter doesn't mean snow...
But if you do live in a place blessed with real winter, here's one weird trick:
Get a real car with 4 wheel drive, studded tires, engine heater, and a fresh battery. Success!
2:00 I live near Buffalo,(not telling u my actual address and stuff) and, I wear all of my knee high socks because if you live in my area, you know that winter can get pretty INTENSE. And VERY VERY VERY COLD. I’m surprised I haven’t gotten frostbite.
What's the weather like today in Buffalo?
Can you guys please make it so your videos have closed captioning. Not all of us can hear. Thanks.
I appreciate these videos. Very helpful for everyday things. Keep up the good work. 👍
This is useful I’m getting my permit just as winter comes by :)
When you buy a new car or truck special order it with an Engine Block Heater and the Front Grille Cover especially for winter months
I live in the Yukon, I didn’t know half of these tips! My life is a frozen window every morning from October until April 😂 thanks bright side I’ll try out all these tips ASAP !
Yukon is so beautiful! 😍
Don’t try these tips out. These things mostly can work. For example, putting a sock on a windshield wiper would get the sock stuck and basically wouldn’t even keep the wiper warm.
Thanks for these life-saving, helpful car care tips for winter! They are muchly appreciated!
Thank you for watching! :)
Great ideas thank u
remember to grab your floor mats after getting out of the snow
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks 🙏
Excellent
Really good suggestions! Thnx
Thanks for the great info 😁
No probs!
I don’t know why I’m watching this... I live in Florida
Because you like it.
Lol.
You never know when the next ice age is coming.
Awesome tips i will put this to use
Hello sir can I apply wax polish on the windshield
You should try butter instead..
Very good
We are covering with snow right now with a 96% chance of snow throughout the day.
The floor mat one is very interesting never thought of it ..
just remember to grab them before driving away
Winter just sucks. Only 4:30 and it is dark out and snowing 🙄
Snow can be dry and fluffy too, not just wet and heavy.
Trying to insult me and you just made yourself look like a fool.
Judy Brown Thanks. People don’t get it. I was born in Alaska. The snow was fluffy and you could drive through several feet no problem. I now live in Kentucky. It’s so wet and compact here it’s like driving on ice always.
@@judybrown1446 snow is literally water molecules. It is impossible for it to be truly "dry".
0:22 if you listen closely, there's an "oof"
I must be deaf
wore like an whooo.. there is a man making noises in the background.. several parts of the video.. he is a part of the "band"
Thanks for the helpful advice😊
glad I could help!
Why nobody talks about heating your car with block heater. At the same time you can heat up the inside of the car. This is very common in northern Europe.
That is because this video appears to be made by someone with no real world experience.
I’m glad i got a garage both and home and at work. Steps 1 to 11 not needed.
Try use Volvo On Call to start parking heater
Great video 👍🏻
