I feel you on this journey, I started to learn Arabic 2 months ago with Duolingo, it's intense but so rewarding when you are able to read and understand simple words. Best of luck Pete, you got this!
You have learned the 2nd most difficult language on this planet - You shoud proud man! And btw, this is literally a motivational video to get things done the right way (Going to the gym mentality). Fascinating!
ماشاء الله أنا فخورة فيك يا بيتر ومنبهرة جدا بمستوى تقدمك وإتقانك للغة العربية. اللغة هي أساس التواصل الفعال مع أي شخص وتقرب الأشخاص من بعض أكثر. اللهجة التي نتكلم فيها الآن في السعودية هي 90٪ مثل اللغة العربية الفصحى. Wow I'm really impressed by ur advancing in learning Arabic. No one can pronounce the letter خ like u did. Keep going
I live in London but have a Palestinian wife. I've been learning Arabic just speaking to her for a few years now and love learning it. We're thinking of moving to Riyadh and one of the things I'd be most excited to do is get my Arabic as close to fluency as possible.
Ahh that’s amazing! Huge dedication on your part, so hats off to you to continue learning, especially when you’re not surrounded by Arab speakers too! Good luck with the potential move, it’d be worth it 🙌🏼
Such a great video, Pete! I really enjoyed how you described the language learning journey as a rollercoaster, full of ups and downs. Your perspective of it being a continuous journey without fixed goals really resonates with me. These insights are crucial for success in learning Arabic, and I've seen this firsthand with my students, some of whom now speak so fluently that they're mistaken for locals! As someone who's been teaching Arabic for four years, I recently started a TH-cam channel focusing on the Saudi, specifically the Najdi dialect, to help greater numbers of expats here learn how to communicate using the local dialect. I appreciate your efforts in these videos! Thanks!
It really is an invaluable thing to learn, and it helps considerably when the language is broken down so us not-so-smart people can slowly get a grasp of it! 😬 I appreciate your efforts in making the language more accessible to those who are keen to learn!
That is completely okay if u speak an arabic that is a mix of regional dialects, I’m a Saudi and I do this a lot cuz I’m originally from the south and I speak in a southern accent or dialect with my family and relatives, but outside in school or work environment i try to speak in a more of Najdi dialect so everyone there can understand every word that i say + u can have mixed dialect also if u have friends from different regions, so it’s completely normal and natural don’t worry about it 👍🏼

But probably should just take lessons once I know I'm going to be working there.
What’s the best way to learn Arabic? Speaking first then reading and writing? Where do u live? We live in jubail and came from usa although I am brazilian and Muslim too Alhamdulilah ❤).
You just reminded me when I first lived with an English family in York. The lady was so helpful but I still remember that grumpy bloke from Sunderland whom I think loathed me to death lol. He never bothered to teach me any word nor did he even try to speak with me slowly lol.
I find it so crazy how Saudi Arabia would hire personal trainers from the UK, when they can hire Saudis. I’m sure many Saudi people are into fitness and athleticism.
You’d be surprised… In previous years there hasn’t be a Saudi-based qualification so standards have been very poor. Usually trainers are Egyptian, Syrian, Philippines etc. Now with the Vision, this has been changing and many more Saudi’s are being skilled in this profession. It’s good to see.
I’m guessing they don’t have a regulation here, in the uk we have qualifications & tests that are regulated so you know the pt is actually educated on the subject

Wow - what great progress to writing in Arabic. How many hours a week tutoring and how many personal study are you doing? Are you learning with a private tutor or in a group?

I studied it as an A/S level but that was 20+ years ago. I need to dig out my old school books. I love Arabic it's such an expressive language.
Oh wow, if 20 years ago, what can you still remember?

If from Sunderland, that doesn’t surprise me 😂

I have an online tutor, and I have 2 classes a week. It’s intense, but it’s really useful to keep the practice going
I want to learn so bad
No time like the present to start 💪🏼
