Pete Does Saudi
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 เม.ย. 2020
Welcome to my channel! I’m just an expat who fell in love with Saudi Arabia since making the move in 2019.
I want to share my personal experiences I’ve had over the years here to give a different perspective to life out here from what you’d usually find on the internet.
Trust me when I say it’s a bit of a culture shock, but life out here is totally worth it, you won’t regret it!
Stay tuned and enjoy,
Pete 🇬🇧

How to Find Expat Accommodation in Saudi... Tips and insights
มุมมอง 1.9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
This is hands down the most common question I get and probably the toughest to answer… I really do wish I could have a list of compounds or apartments I could share with people, but unfortunately it’s just not that simple. There are many factors that will be unique to your situation and also a fair bit of work that needs to be done on your side. Prepare to strap in, take notes and be persistent...
4 Things I Wish I Knew Before Moving to Saudi Arabia
มุมมอง 9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
It’s funny, when I moved here 5 years ago, there was no introduction to how to behave or treat people in social or professional contexts. Something I should have done research into myself admittedly… I want to change that and give you an idea as to what are some behaviours that are acceptable in public, and some that are not… Enjoy! - 00:00 - The 4 things I wish I knew 01:24 - #1 Watch your fee...

An Expat COST OF LIVING in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
มุมมอง 43Kปีที่แล้ว
A question which I’ve been meaning to answer for some time is “what is the cost of living over there for an expat?” It seems like it can be a very confusing question. To give you the short answer, it's very reasonable and for me, coming from London, it's refreshing! I’m going to take you through what you need to consider and keep in mind all costs shown are in Saudi Arabian Riyals. THE BIG STUF...

Expat Diaries - Thrill-Seeking in AlUla, Saudi Arabia
มุมมอง 4.8Kปีที่แล้ว
We just had to dedicate an entire video from our AlUla trip to the more ‘adventurous’ side to the destination for all of those thrill-seekers out there. The fabulous restaurants, rich cultural heritage and local hospitality are absolute musts, but if you’re like me and Thea, there always needs to be something a little bit more ‘active’. My GUEST APPEARANCE on Saudia Radio FM Talkshow
Wow. You live with your gf there?? I’m very surprised that they allow unmarried people to live together there. I feel like someone would always be watching me there. I’m guessing there’s not the whole sexually crazy lifestyle there( which is a huge relief) unless that’s a “behind closed doors “ situation, which then whatever. But do people go out on dates there? Like, could I?….Very interesting…. I left you a message on your Instagram as well. Great hearing your perspective
Habibi they don't treat foreigners very well. You need to renew your VISA every year
Hahaha “0% reply rate” is so true. I’ve been applying for jobs for the past month and haven’t heard back from anyone. 😂
Devastatingly true 😭😭
Wrong, the Ugly is the Mold. It can be a means to cancers and autoimmune diseases!!
Very true, would rather not live with it for sure!
I am getting offered 9500 SAR ..i have 15 yrs of IT Sales experince In India ..company isnt very transparent about the type of health insurance ( tier / band), what type of apartment ( they are saying a shared room in an apartment ) .. but i would want to rent an apartment outside as I cant share my flat or room and washroom with others .. so pls tell me if 9500 is enough and if i can save at least 3500 SAR per month .. I have one dependent ... if anyone call quickly respons cuz i have to take a final decision on this at the very earliest ...
Is Saudi safe if you are not muslim and will your religion be respected?
Thank you so much. Very helpful.😊
I’m glad it was useful 🫶🏼
I Love you guys , that was a pretty thorough review & analysis of the compound you guys lived at , that was really helpful. Loads of Thanks to you . 🙏🙏🙏
You’re too kind! Thank you 🫶🏼
Thank you for this perspective! Number 5 is important - many times we don’t see the lesson learned until we make a leap without a Plan B or without thinking through the experience. Thank you for sharing!

So, if I am left handed person, I will be in trouble?

@petedoessaudi FYI -only on your channel’s videos, when anyone watches a video with headphones, you can only hear on the left headphone speaker. I hope you can fix this issue on the backend. IA. ✌️
Welcome, my brother, but there are better and more beautiful places than the place where you stayed. I wish you a happy trip.❤
What about sharks? Is not scuba here dangerous?
Beautifully said 🙏🏼

Amazing, you've really become part of Saudi culture. It’s impressive how well you understand our traditions!
Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I really appreciate these words

Hi, very helpful video. I am in the beginning stages of moving to KSA. I got a verbal offer and waiting for an official offer from Saudi electricity company. The process is very slow compared to what I’m used to so I’m trying to find info online. My main concern is health insurance and Iqama. Some comments said it’s 100k riyals, will I have to pay that for me and my family of 5? This could get pretty expensive. TIA
My man said bum gun😂😂😂
Best invention ever 🤣
Hi Pete, can you please share the details of the apartment complex you moved to? I am looking to relocate from riyadh to Jeddah soon and looking for a place (and a PT!) 😉
Ahh I think you just followed me on Instagram right? It’s Bayat Plaza
You can't go to a country and do what you want. They have their own laws and government.
Welcome to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Thank you 🫶🏼
Alcohol is available to non muslims in saudi arabia.
Not legally it’s not…
@petedoessaudi yes it is I've done my research
The life of the laborer is very difficult because of some greedy and deceitful people here۔Not all people are bad, but most of the people I have seen humiliate workers۔The government should make more facilities for the workers۔ but i still love saudi Arabia.
Hi, can expat wives get jobs there yet? My husband has moved there almost 2 yrs back but I'm not able to join him as I have a job where I live but not sure if I can get a job in Saudi, apart from healthcare sector.
You’d have to get a job the same way any other person would if you wanted to move to Saudi - find a company to work for a get a residency visa through that. Otherwise the only option would be to go on a spouse visa which would mean you can’t work.
Hi Pete I am living in Canada for 28 years and thinking to move to Saudi Arabia in couple of years I am a journeyman Millwright Mechanic and journeyman Machinist from Canada, hope to find a job in Industrial sector Just need to know where to start Should I get a job from here or I can come over and look job there? Thanks

its kinda sad.......he is learning.... and his handwriting are better than me 🤣
Wooops, apologies 😂
In California we expose our feet so people know we aren't shooting up heroine between our toes.
Saudi here, all good brother and the man in the 1st part who clicked to you to remove your feet is also understand that you're not familiar with those cultural stuff but telling you himself better than someone else (too extreme) in a bad way or getting wrong image of you. number 2 and 4 are quite right, meanwhile number 4 specially is serious for us and i do hope you read a bit more deeper into it, kindly.
I appreciate your feedback 🫶🏼 Truly
R u married? Do u have kids?❤
Nope and nope
What’s the best way to learn Arabic? Speaking first then reading and writing? Where do u live? We live in jubail and came from usa although I am brazilian and Muslim too Alhamdulilah ❤).
You have learned the 2nd most difficult language on this planet - You shoud proud man! And btw, this is literally a motivational video to get things done the right way (Going to the gym mentality). Fascinating!
I’m trying to learn* 😂😅 I appreciate the love mate 🫶🏼
Wow - what great progress to writing in Arabic. How many hours a week tutoring and how many personal study are you doing? Are you learning with a private tutor or in a group?
I have an online tutor, and I have 2 classes a week. It’s intense, but it’s really useful to keep the practice going
You just reminded me when I first lived with an English family in York. The lady was so helpful but I still remember that grumpy bloke from Sunderland whom I think loathed me to death lol. He never bothered to teach me any word nor did he even try to speak with me slowly lol.
If from Sunderland, that doesn’t surprise me 😂
ما شاء الله
🫶🏼🫶🏼
I have always wanted to learn the Arabic language do you have any tips on how to go about it and is there anyway to contact you?
Sure, I’m on Instagram at Pete_Kami - can answer any questions there 👌🏼
dont come here we dont want westners we dont want foreigners , go to your country it needs you white people dont understand that they are subject of extension in their homeland
I find it so crazy how Saudi Arabia would hire personal trainers from the UK, when they can hire Saudis. I’m sure many Saudi people are into fitness and athleticism.
You’d be surprised… In previous years there hasn’t be a Saudi-based qualification so standards have been very poor. Usually trainers are Egyptian, Syrian, Philippines etc. Now with the Vision, this has been changing and many more Saudi’s are being skilled in this profession. It’s good to see.
Foreigners is much better for consistency and long term
I’m guessing they don’t have a regulation here, in the uk we have qualifications & tests that are regulated so you know the pt is actually educated on the subject
@@SElyas96 In the past yes, but now there are some incredible trainers and athletes here. Education is coming to the forefront a lot more and it's great to see.
You doing good brother keep going
You’re too kind, thank you! 🫶🏼
No rules on the road, now that’s how I like to drive! 😂❤
🤣😅😬
@@petedoessaudi 🤣😂😅
That is completely okay if u speak an arabic that is a mix of regional dialects, I’m a Saudi and I do this a lot cuz I’m originally from the south and I speak in a southern accent or dialect with my family and relatives, but outside in school or work environment i try to speak in a more of Najdi dialect so everyone there can understand every word that i say + u can have mixed dialect also if u have friends from different regions, so it’s completely normal and natural don’t worry about it 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing this 🫶🏼 Really appreciate it! Always interesting to build my knowledge and understanding more 🙏🏼
Such a great video, Pete! I really enjoyed how you described the language learning journey as a rollercoaster, full of ups and downs. Your perspective of it being a continuous journey without fixed goals really resonates with me. These insights are crucial for success in learning Arabic, and I've seen this firsthand with my students, some of whom now speak so fluently that they're mistaken for locals! As someone who's been teaching Arabic for four years, I recently started a TH-cam channel focusing on the Saudi, specifically the Najdi dialect, to help greater numbers of expats here learn how to communicate using the local dialect. I appreciate your efforts in these videos! Thanks!
It really is an invaluable thing to learn, and it helps considerably when the language is broken down so us not-so-smart people can slowly get a grasp of it! 😬 I appreciate your efforts in making the language more accessible to those who are keen to learn!
Very inspiring
Thank you ☺️☺️
واو ما شاء الله! أنا من الرياض وأشوف أن لغتك العربية ممتازة خصوصاً اللهجة السعودية. استمر، وأتمنى لك إقامة سعيدة في السعودية. البيت بيتك

I live in London but have a Palestinian wife. I've been learning Arabic just speaking to her for a few years now and love learning it. We're thinking of moving to Riyadh and one of the things I'd be most excited to do is get my Arabic as close to fluency as possible.
Ahh that’s amazing! Huge dedication on your part, so hats off to you to continue learning, especially when you’re not surrounded by Arab speakers too! Good luck with the potential move, it’d be worth it 🙌🏼
