    Many worldwide automotive & trucking manufacturers use Iceco units. Their compressors are made by Secop, a German company. They've sold over 2 million units and have a very good reputation.

    We have a smaller version of the Iceco and love it!!! We keep the cooler in the backseat of our truck and charge it with a small Jackery. While we are traveling, the Jackery is charging. Works great!

    Another important fact. You can have ice cream and frozen drinks at the beach or other hot location. We love ours (different brand same features) plus it gives you a backup if your rv fridge fails. Also my ram seats fold up with a cargo deck underneath. You could turn your sideways. Just make sure to leave room for ventilation.

    I have a vl60 and performs fine in fridge mode. But with one zone as freezer it struggles to maintain 10 degree in 90 degree humid days. Compresser run almost constantly. Is this normal?

      I'm not sure to be honest, I haven't run in those temps. I would reach out to iceco.

    Does it pull the same amount of power between the 12 volt versus the 110?

    • @AdventureEndeavor
      @AdventureEndeavor  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will be different because it's 12volt compared to 110

    That freezer is nice. You can really store some extra items in there. I was looking for places in my camper where I can store it. We are well under our total weight for the camper. At 60 pounds I was thinking we can store that under the bed. It’s super nice to have extra storage in the clamper for the perishable food. Thanks for sharing. I’m interested in buying that exact freezer after your review of it. Thank you.

    Your back seats in Ram don’t fold up or down? Or just spin it around on seat with a spacer on back of seat for airflow to condenser & ratchet strap it securely. Just some options.👍

    • @AdventureEndeavor
      @AdventureEndeavor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Only the bottom folds up, and it's the whole bottom. I think we are going to find a 60/40 split seat.

    We’ve had our VL60 for just under 2 years, it would never run on 12 volts, I thought it was our supply socket wiring, so we just used the 120 volt AC in our class A. We use it as a freezer on both sides @ zero degrees. Today it failed - the first indication was after we just added about 40% more cold food to freeze and it wouldn’t go below 16 degrees F. For a couple of days. Today I checked the temperatures in the morning and it was zero/zero and 4 hours later it was dead. Voltage to the VL60 was 120 ac at the end of the female side of the power cord and the fuse was intact (I checked it with a meter) there was no life in the display or any signs of functioning whatsoever. We absolutely loved this ICECO VL60 for the amount of food it could store, but it wasn’t perfect due to the 12 V dc non functioning. (You loose efficiency when inverting) so we will see how ICECO will respond to our repair claim. I’m not saying it’s a bad design, just that we’ve had bad luck, and hopefully we will be satisfied after we resolve the failure.

      Did you just use the supplied 12v cord? Did you try cutting off the “cigarette lighter” end and rewrite it into a 12v distribution block?

    What kind of electrical set up is needed to run the VL60 in a vehicle reliably 24/7 ?

      We run ours through our lion energy Safari LT. Just an added step of safety. But they are very efficient, theres a lot of ways to wire it. We might add a solar panel

    I’m tired of dumping out stinky water and adding ice every day to my cooler I keep in the back of my rig. That Iceco would fit nicely and I could keep it running with my Jackery 500, or my Delta Pro, for sure. Ice being $3 a bag, I could have practically paid for the IceCo by now!

    No Iceco doesn't have the best fridge/freezer. Iceco's are just Indel B's. Indel B supplies truck fridges to Paccar. Both Kenworth and Peterbilt. All run the Danfoss/Seacop compressor. My boss collects data on everything in his trucking company. He said out of the last 35 Peterbilts he owned had to replace 9 fridges. Over a 3 year period. When he went from Peterbilt to Volvo. Volvo runs Dometics, he's replaced 1 fridge in 3 years. All the Dometics are running the VMOSO3 compressor and the Truck Fridge Indel B's are Danfoss/Seacop.
    As far as longevity is concerned Engel/Norcold has the reputation as being the best. Snomaster, National Luna and ARB have a reputation as being excellent as well. Iceco's are pretty nice for the price. But I don't think they are as good as Dometics, Engels and the other ones stated above.

    What the hell?? You didn't show the drinks after getting cold and how long it took to reach the desired temps. Also, no discussion on cons other than that the model you had was too big for your vehicle.

    60-65 watts is so minor a draw.

    • @AdventureEndeavor
      @AdventureEndeavor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah we are not super worried about it. We have two batteries in the ram and the Jeep as well. I think we might add a small solar panel down the road.

    • @MastaSquidge
      @MastaSquidge 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It gets even better when you factor in duty cycle. If it only runs 20 minutes out of every hour you're looking at an average draw of only 20w. Which is 480wh per day and can easily be handled by a single 100 watt solar panel.
