    I have a 5.3 swapped 79 Wago project. Nothing crazy off-road like yours, but a cruiser. Tweety the 1979 Wagoneer is the Facebook build page.

    • @AdventureEndeavor

      Awesome, hows the swap going? These LS motors fit great.

      @@AdventureEndeavor going well. Th400 and twin stick Dana 300 with the 5.3 moved things around a bit. So I am working on trans mounting and shifter linkage to keep the column shifter. Fuel system is done (42 gal suburban tank will be needed with the th400…) radiator and fan is worked out. Brake system gone through. Almost to the point where I can start wiring. I have a painless swap harness and tuned ECM that I got with the drivetrain but considering Holley Terminator instead. We shall see.

      Wow sounds like a great build! So much work.

      @@MissionRestomod hey man, I need to checkout your woody mods!! I have 3 Wagoneer’s myself, an 85, an 87, and a 91. I’ve thought about doing an LS swap in one of mine but unfortunately life may get in the way and tell me I don’t have the budget for it, lol, but then I’ve thought about selling one of em which should allow me to do it but that means I’ve gotta part with one which I’d rather find another one, not get rid of one lol, but such is life I guess. I’d rather sell one in order to get the build done for now and then I can keep my eyes open for another after the build is complete.
      I just love these trucks!! They are beasts wen they are done correctly. I’m not gonna go anywhere near what he did in the video and it’s mainly just gonna be used for a cruiser and driver but I do occasionally get off the pavement but don’t need the rock crawling suspension that this has now. I plan on putting four donut tires on it which will be 31-10.50-15s on it so I can use the original wheels cause I love the way they look on the Wagoneers and then I will only require a Small lift so I won’t have issues getting in/out of the truck then. I’m a disabled Desert Storm Vet and I broke my back in three places and the lower half of my spine is fused and my right scapula is fused to my upper spine and I’m missing a few ribs on the right side so it makes it harder getting in/out of trucks that have been aggressively lifted but it’s fine since I don’t need the clearance this Jeep will.
      Have you got yours running now and what’s your opinion on the 5.3 if you have? Is the 5.3 gonna give adequate power versus using the 6.0 or 6.2? I imagine the 5.3 is gonna be easier to get tho and probly a good bit cheaper than the others and it’s gotta be better power and fuel economy over the stock 360 that only had 174 hp from the factory.
      I’ll try and find your FB page and see if I can find out more about your build. What state are you in? I’m over in central NC. Take care brother and be safe out there!!

    • @MissionRestomod
      @MissionRestomod 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1982MCI thank you for your service. Yea the 5.3 is running and I drove it around the block so far. I have to have a safety inspection done here in Missouri, so lots of little things to get buttoned up. The LS swap can be done fairly affordably if you stick close to stock components like a flashed stock computer and worked over wire harness. I went with the Terminator X for simplicity sake and a warranty. It literally fires on the first crank. I’ve got 285/70/17’s on mine now but now the gears are too high and it feels sluggish (factory 3.08 gears). I’ll probably up them to 3.25 or 3.55 since it’s not a highway rig, mostly just for around town.

    I'm sure you've sorted it by now, but thst reverse delay on a 4L80 is often the servo pin, they sell longer ones, or you can just weld a little turd on it to lengthen it.

    Sounds like you need to take it to a professional tuner and have them put it on their rack with their laptop in hand and let them go to town. I hope the transmission is just a tuning issue as I’m sure you’d hate to buy another or have that one rebuilt. The truck looks killer. Look forward to seeing it drivable and see how the suspension does!

    • @AdventureEndeavor
      @AdventureEndeavor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Brent, we actually have since gotten the tuning all dialed in. The transmission on the other hand needed to be rebuild....💸💸💸

      @@AdventureEndeavor Thank you. I had no idea what JEEP was using and when.

    • @AdventureEndeavor
      @AdventureEndeavor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah it's a grand wagoneer. They switched to the XJ or Cherokee in the mid 90s witch was a unibody

    Although I'm enjoying your build video,it hurts me to see your ford suspension set up frt,as an ex rockcrawler and fabricator I've always used straight axles and coil up frt quarter elip rr ,can't wait to see the first run...

    • @AdventureEndeavor
      @AdventureEndeavor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I get it. To be honest we are building the Jeep to our needs and desires. We like to go fast and prerunn, it's much harder to make a solid axle do that, not impossible though. Thanks for following along.

      @@AdventureEndeavor I do have a # of a 5.3 tune guy,writes his own programs for clavicle 3 racing,,,5.3 is a great eng,can do more tuning on a 5.3 than a 6.0 ,btw 4l80e uses same clutch plates for reverse and low,chances are you have a solenoid or broken reverse band,if you have low gear in trans working
