Dude. You are absolutely legendary. Picking up my first used GX next weekend and couldn't be more excited. This channel has tons of unreal knowledge that's applicable for any Toyota or vehicle in general.
I bought a lexus certified 2019 gx460 earlier this year with less than 20k miles for under $38k. In love with it. However, I noticed the driver and passenger seat cooling is kind of weak even when on high. Is there any way to make the air flow cooler and maybe a little stronger through the cushions? And is the bottom cushion only for heating and back part for cooling only? TIA!
Was going to flush my system with distilled water and then drain half of it and ballpark fill it with the concentrate, but was concerned I wouldn't get the correct mix of coolant to water since its being mixed inside the engine. Using the hydrometer is a great way to see what concentration I'm at, so will do that after I add the concentrate to make sure I'm at a good temp tolerance range. Thanks GX*BOB for the vids and especially the humor.
@@maxr3933 I think you just over complicated the entire process. I would just do a complete drain and fill back with premixed coolant and call it a day. 🍷
Being in the deep south, I usually keep my coolant water to anti freeze ratio at around 60/40 to 55/45. It only once has ever gotten single digit temps here recently and even then, mostly 20+ degrees. However, water is about twice as efficient than cooalnt at removing heat from the engine and thus you're able to conduct heat better. So I prefer a little extra distilled water because 80% of the year it's moderate to high temperatures, but maybe dips below freezing a month out of the year. As long as you aren't isane and run like 75/25 or something you'll be just fine.

Hi Bob! Always a pleasure to comment on your videos as you convinced me to buy a GX! Question, will you do a video on a transmission fluid drain and fill? Is it recommended to swap this fluid? Supposedly manufacturer "lifetime" fluid is 10 years. Thanks!
@@chrise3507 i am fully set up to do a tranny drain and fill. NOT a flush and fill. Unless you have 200k plus miles there’s no need to do a complete flush which is overkill. It requires you to flush all the fluid outside of your transmission pan including the torque converter. I am also replacing the filter strainer and will include all the part numbers. Thanks for asking.
@@GXBOB Okay wonderful! Yes, I have been reading drain and fill rather than a flush is recommended. I assume by "set up", you mean a video sometime in the future? Take care brother!
Hey GX Bob, When swapping out my taillights I noticed that there’s two unscrew-able things in the taillight at the bottom to change out bulbs. I love your LED swap videos and I would really like to see a video swapping out the normal brake light LED to an even brighter one, and the small little side marker LED (not turn signal) but the little red light on the side to a brighter LED. If you figure out an approach to that I would be thankful as i kind of find the brake lights slightly dim
@@TheAndersonOBrien The bottom portion of your tail lights are non removable because it’s an led chip board. They are not bulbs that you can remove and replace. thanks for the suggestion!
GXBob!! Was driving with cruise control engaged. After some driving my cruise control disengaged. Then the check engine light came on, trac off on gauge cluster display came on, and the 4Lo light started blinking. I noticed when I accelerate I lost some power like only the front wheels are engaged. Have you ever ran into this issue? Or are you familiar with this issue? Thanks in advance
Bob, quick question…looking for a GX 470 for my husband as I daily driver to work & maybe some fun in the future. Any years that he should stay away from, if all things are equal? I know you know a lot about the GX460, but anything you can say about the 470? I use your videos all the time for my 460. We trust you and your thoughts on all things GX460.
@@PortWaterDogs4Eva I’ve owned a few 470’s and absolutely love them. My favorite years are 2008/2009 in white or silver which comes with the newer tail lights but you’ll see an abundance of 2006 for sale. Every 470 I’ve owned had failing drive shafts and failing airbags that needed replacing. I switched them to coils which was a better and cheaper alternative. I normally stay away from 2003/2004 as it was the starting year that Lexus tried out the GX for the first time. 2005/2006 is when they worked out some of the glitches. 2008/2009 is when they perfected the GX prior to the makeover to the 460.
