I've been binging spinning videos for the past few weeks, and I have to say that this video has the best camera angles. Really informative!! Thank you!
I bought my Ashford e spinner last week. I am disabled and sometimes I am unable to treadle on my treasured Majacraft wheel. So far I have caught up with lots of plying I have been putting off because I don't particularly like plying!! At present I am spinning sock yarn. Singles at 60 wpi to chain ply. I was worried this little machine wouldn't cope with such fine yarn, which is my norm, and my very slow drafting (I find slow drafting much more relaxing) but it is brilliant. One thing I have found is to put the foot pedal on my lap and turn on and off with my hand which I find much easier than trying to find it on the floor! If my dog lies on it (she always sleeps by my feet) she may turn the wheel on or off at inopportune moments!! Also, being used to treadling I found I was turning it on and off all the time as I was 'treadling' whilst spinning!!
I have 2 e-spinners for exactly the same reason: health issues (back injury) that prevent me from treadling more than a few minutes. Mine are by Dreaming Robots. I’ve got the Nano2 and the EEW 6.1. E-spinners are fabulous! I love my spindles, and would have loved a treadle wheel, but given my health issues it doesn’t make sense. The EEW6.1 has a foot pedal as well and like you, I keep it in my lap: it’s easier to keep the cats away from it and the dogs don’t accidentally lie down on it. Now I can spin for much longer and plying is a breeze. And I don’t have to ration the joy of feeling fibre run through my fingers! Happy spinning!
Thanks for posting this. I am trying to choose an e-spinner right now, as last week I went to a spinning workshop day and could only spins for a couple of hours because of arthritis in my knees. Time to change my wheel.
I didn't even think about this as a reason to choose one over a regular wheel, I will be sure to include that in my future videos! You are very welcome; I hope you get some relief soon and can spin pain free! It is really nice to be able to take the spinner in the bed with me sometimes. They are really nice, and I am very happy with the Ashford. Happy spinning, thank you so much for your comment, take care!
I have neuropathy in burnt my hand and feet from chemo 10 years ago. I really want an Ashford since I have a traditional Ashford wheel and have a ton of bobbins!
Love this video, very helpful, I’m a new spinner, was undecided whether to get an e wheel or manual because I was concerned about spinning consistently, your “up close” portion-very helpful, gonna go with e wheel too to focus on drafting and consistency first
I think the manual wheel will be harder to learn on. But I haven't so can't truly speak on it yet. Thank you so much for your comment, keep practicing, The drafting is the trickiest bit then it is smooth sailing! Happy spinning, so glad to have helped you!
Your yarn is beautiful, you make it look so easy. I have the same spinning wheel, I am new to spinning, the wheel pulls the yarn out of my hands, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Adjust your tension knob until it is just lightly on. No tightness at all to start and see how it pulls. Then very very gradually increase tightness until it starts to lightly pull/you are satisfied! I hope this makes sense and helps! It is amazing how light of a tension you need on these wheels I also had it pull too hard when I first got it, just needed less tension.
Please help. I have the AshFord 3 espinner. When I ply 2 bobbins together the twist is good, but winding on my 3rd bobbin is very loose. I can I avoid this please. Thank you. Do you have a demo?
You may need to up the tension just a bit, maybe keep changing the positions of the yarn guides along the bobbin so that it doesn't get loose as it winds on. Those are a couple fixes that may perhaps help! Happy spinning!
I had a really hard time deciding if I wanted an e-spinner or a traditional wheel. I ultimately went with an E-spinner because I like to move my spinning around a lot and to be able to store it in a small space. I have never spun on a traditional wheel myself, but it is at the top of the list to get one when I can afford it. I started on a drop spindle then the eel wheel nano and outgrew both of them very fast. I will one day get a traditional wheel but for now I couldn't be happier and recommend both the Ashford and the eel nano depending on what type of yarn you are looking to spin. I would do lots of research watch lots of videos and think about realistically what you want your wheel to do for you. That is what I did, and I really hope this helps! Thank you so much for your comment and for watching!
I unfortunately cannot help you with this as I have never spun linen. Maybe a video for the future though. Thank you for the comment sorry to be of no help.
You must be doing a worsted yarn. Except for socks, I have always done woolen spun yarn. Alpaca wool costs a fortune unless you are a farmer or are good friends of a farmer.
Yes I almost exclusively spin worsted style and the majority of this alpaca is for a trade for alpaca fiber from a near to me farm. Yes, it can get quite expensive but check the sale groups regularly for raw alpaca, sometimes you can find a great bargain price.

Thank you SO MUCH! It means the world to me! I hope I can help some and grow this channel in the fiber community! Thank you again!!

This is a very helpful video. I've been watching many trying to decide if I should buy this e spinner.
THANK YOU…I have not spun for soooo long, it is like I’m starting all over!
Your spinning is gorgeous! You really engage with the yarn. (As a new spinner, I look forward to this level of proficiency.) Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! Keep practicing you will get there!
Love this I'd love to give this a go but not sure what I should start with xx

You spin the way I do. I find it makes a much more consistent yarn when I let the smallest amount of twist into the fiber supply.
Yes, absolutely!
Thank you! I know what I’m asking “Santa” for this year…lol. Really enjoying your videos!
Thank you for your comment! I really debated hard on getting this wheel and I am so glad I saved up and did!
I want one of those! You make it look so easy.
My e spinner arrives tomorrow! 😀
Thanks for sharing Rayne. I'm new to spinning, have an Ashford e-spinner 3. I want to spin like you, love your technique 😉
Thank you so much! I still have a lot to learn myself, such a sweet comment, thank you!

I am new to the spinning world, I have been eyeing the Ashford E-Spinner love watching your videos, you make it look so easy.
Thank you so much. Crafts have always came naturally to me but still you must practice to get it just right!
I like what I see😉👌
I love the music for this video!
Thank you!
Love it!
thanks rayne!
You are very welcome!
And now they put sharp point on the E and sent it as a spell to my mum to cause her pain 😭
Was this to make me run so she gets better?

Do you have any tips or tricks for lessening the bobbin noise? Mine rattles quite loud on the shaft.
Yes I have a video coming soon it is on my list.

What kind of fibre are you using please?
Do you like e spinners better than traditional wheels? Can’t decide what to get

Is this one suitable for linen also?

The E in spinner was the same comb spinner when they tried to put a beard on it and bring it down
