We use the Scangrip system at my school for painting. I turn off all the lights in the paint booth and use the Scangrip in the dark to see where my spray is thin or if I have bad overlap pattern. I also use it to paint match a color chip to the car to make sure it's a perfect match before mixing the paint 😎

Just watching these videos is a bit overwhelming with all the products and tools used, not even talking about this video. Larry, your new garage is pretty amazing, specially the floor. However, the lights may be affecting the white balance on your camera(Your skin looks very gray). If you are still using the SLR to film your videos, you may consider saving a custom white balance and using that for videos inside your garage. You just need to take a picture of a white sheet of paper and you can manually adjust the tint within the WB Shift menu of the camera. Keep up the good work!

Awesome, and congrats on your new tools Larry, they seem so great!
Just so I have understood you correctly:
When using the shine meter, to get a "true" shine number, it would be best to measure the paint first when it is compleatly clean and naked(no wax, or sealent), and then after the polishing stage pre. sealent and wax, and maybe do a third measurement after the sealent and wax to get the final, most shiny result. :) That makes the most sence to me anyways, what do you think?
    Best regards,
    Ozzy from Norway!

just wanted to say thanks for making such amazing products, just bought a grand am that's been sitting for years clay bared it and put skin on ( yeah didn't polish or put on wax overtop) and so many people have complemented me on how clean it looks and it looks like I just got it painted.. I know skin is not suppose to make the car looked like it got polished but for some reason when I use it, they do. I have tried chemicals guys jetseal and it is nothing compared to skin for anyone who is wondering... maye I will pick up a spare hood at a local body shop and post a review of the 2 to show the difference.. its huge

I've been watching your videos since forever ago. I continually think of the same problem. Basically, any detail work requires buffing some of the factory paint off. Should I even wash my car? We've seen you measure the thickness of the paint on high end cars to make sure you won't buff into the primer or metal. How much harm does washing often actually do?

    Larry,
I thought I once seen one of your videos show the reflection/refraction of light on a multitude of different surfaces. Ie one that is wet sanded(take a meter), one that is fine polished and then clayed(take a measurement). etc. I'm really interested in the claybarring micro marring and the difference from it being polished to it then being claybarring. If you didn't , how about some kind of video showing the science of it. thx
