Reminds me of my Gramps, who stuck around the Fire Department after he'd retired to train up the newbies properly... He was a tough as nails warrior of a different kind, fighting the elements and death itself to protect others.
Don't mess with an old vet. You will regret it. A few years back a young wannabe thug tried to rob a convenience store in Grand Rapids, Mi. The thug couldn't get to the cashier due to a security wall, so he turned his attention to the old man attempting to cash a check. The thug lost miserably and the old man held him on the floor until the cops arrived. Turns out the old man (about 67 at the time) was a Marine Corps veteran, former Golden Gloves champion and currently STILL worked as a steelworker. The wannabe thug didn't stand a chance.
Humanity Feck Yeah! Boomstick, sword, and teeth backed by human endurance and rage. Thanks for finding and narrating another gem of a story. For the Algorithm! For the Narrator! For the Beard!
And their extremely angry if you interrupt their vacation. Especially if you do so by harming someone’s young. It doesn’t matter who’s child or even if their the same species 😂
That was the only story that didn’t get confirmed in the massive battle at the end. We saw him tear the neck out of a Minotaur with his teeth, but without some buxom dark elf maiden clinging onto his shoulder and giving him a victory smooch, I’m gonna call bs on that story.
When I was very young I knew a ancient old man who was WWI veteran, and I had no idea what that sweet old man had seen and done until I was much older. It was horrific.
I've known people like that, served with half of them... Good to be shoulder to shoulder or at there back.. I never wanted to see their face when they where in that mood though... LOL
French name, made me think Bretonian, but then he got out his boomstick, which made me think Imperial. But then they described a 17th century dress uniform. There is only one faction from that era. He bested a Minatour hero, a Doombull, with his bare hands... and teeth. This man is not from Altdorf, nor Bourdeleux. He is of the Galleon's Graveyard. This man is a Vampire.
Beautiful story and naration, but one thing wrong: the name is french Alboise de Pontoise and it reads as Al-buoy de Pontuoy. But still a beautiful story, will read it myself
maybe he is on vacation and is a general or captain that would technically be in the reserves because of his age but could be summoned back to active duty should the need arise, you never really can retire from some things till your six feet under and locked in a box or turned to ash.
Never kick an old dog... He might... just might... have one last bite in him. This goes for Humans too... Never, ever, attack an old man. He didn't get that old by just lying around while others fought. Oh, yes... NEVER, ever piss off that old human... HIS bite is much worse than the old dog's... and Will End You.
Dude, I doubt those elven children would ever get to hear a juicy story about Big Al's incident with a female dark elf when told they'd have waut until they were older. 😏
This is a great one, but as someone who's heard this before, it was very jarring to me that you pronounced his mameluke it was Albiose (al-bee-oh-ss) instead of Alboise (al-boy-see or al-boy-ss)
That is why you drill your civilians, till they drop. They had the numbers, they could have won this. TF was Aldus thinking ? He could have been the rallying point, he could have prevented panic , thus saving lives. Damn glory hound! The elves needed a leader, the human was after personal glory. Heroes do not win wars, no matter what the poets tell you. He killed a second minotaur, bully for him. How many orphans did it cost? How many dead elf children it took, before he scared them enough to retreat?
To be fair the elves were already trying to rally at the fortifications and were already pretty much as organized as they could be when he finally showed up, not much he could really have done other than try to find people and get them heading in the direction they were already heading in
Gibbs rule 23, "Never mess with a Marine's coffee, if you want to live." I guess that also applies to their vacation.
Ah a fellow ncis fan well met
Damn straight.
I love you
Right
"Once a marine, always a marine" - Gibbs
How does the saying go: Never underestimate the old, in a profesion where people die young.
That is why the Spartans always gave respect to the old, even if they didn't really respect any body else very much.
@@mt4798 yup cause if you can survive that long in that kind of job then you must be either extremely lucky or you know what your doing….or some combination of the 2
Same with Rome and the Triarii, old veterans of the legion who were there because they loved it
Reminds me of my Gramps, who stuck around the Fire Department after he'd retired to train up the newbies properly... He was a tough as nails warrior of a different kind, fighting the elements and death itself to protect others.
"Beware of an old man in young man's profession"
Lesson of the story is never underestimate an old man, especially one who is retired and a veteran in the military.
The one thing I learned from anime is to never underestimate the old person.
In the words of sparta “ fear the old man in the field of work where men die young
I also took away the lesson: "do not mess up with the vacation of a veteran"!
"Beware of an old man in a profession where men usually die young."
I resemble that comment...lol

Human level 20 ex space Marine retires, then is forced to fight. Elven child looks on in awe. Kinda Mandalorian-esque.
Never underestimate a man who wants to enjoy his vacation.
And this part is extremely important! Beware the fury of a kind patient man
Just,
Just sooo inspiring. Warriors never retire, they just vacation...
And their extremely angry if you interrupt their vacation. Especially if you do so by harming someone’s young. It doesn’t matter who’s child or even if their the same species 😂
This level of tech is the most under used in fantasy. The late Victorian Era slaps!
old western era tech maybe
@@bernardrednix756 same era, different part of the world.
Now I wanted a follow up story where he tell about the Dark Elf lady.😉

That made me laugh.
This old guy fought almost as well as that Human babysitter.

Great narration and story!!! Never mess with a retired Warrior! There is a reason he survived and retired...
Absolutely agree!

Still don't understand why you don't have more subscribers...excellent, as usual.
Youth and exuberance are no match for old age and treachery
A human veteran faces the denizens of hell and decides I need to give these guys PTSD.
Sounds like a Monday to me...

I'm not usually a fan of that style of story, but that was a damn good one!
"I'm on my vacation." I think this was probably a mistranslation. It should have been; I'm retired.😂

@Nad Senoj at least until the drums of war start beating once more
Absolutely loved this one....listening to it again for the 3rd time...❤❤❤
Are there any plans to continue “The New Species” and “The Nature of Predators”?
Greetings, Mentlegent!
For the Rhyhtm that is Algo
Old soldiers never die, they just transition into real life DOOM.
Combat veterans who live to retirement are the scariest people when mad. Except for maybe their spouses.
I regret that I have but one like to give to this narration
Awesome story. Thank you for reading it. Here is a like and comment to help your channel grow and get you the recognition you deserve.
Never underestimate an Old man whos occupation was one were men die young... there is a reason he is old... dont make him show you that reason.
Love your work, Agro, thanks for bringing these stories to this medium for us!
and that's why the Vieux Grognards were the most feared unit in Napoleon's Army
that was great. the voices are always excellent.
That was an awesome story! Well read!
Hells ya brother I loved that one, good job as always. You make the stories come alive
THE BOOM STICK TO END ALL BOOM STICKS
Nothing is scarier than a warrior with grey hair.
An old soldier with lots of scars and grey hair is nothing to take lightly.
The only thing to make the story better would have been a dark elf woman showing up at the end.
"I'm on my Vacation!" rofl

The good ol’ bait and switch. Too bad they didn’t know this village sheltered a human veteran.

very rare for fantasy to include guns
True story, humans used to run prey to death.

Just remember, you get old for a reason, you’re bloody hard to kill.

Damn
Nice story. However, if we are dealing with Elf's and Orc's it's tale of fantasy not outer space.
Warhammer 40k would beg to differ.
Are there any TfOS about Florida Man?
If there aren't, I might be tempted to write one...
Ah ha I remember this story hehe gold tooth
