    Hi Jamin, I would think IT tech positions would be in demand in some areas. As a System Engineer, I would think It's hard to find any industry that does not rely on networks, computers and mobile devices. I am very fortunate; my job is 100% remote and allows me to relocate to all 50 states. I visited Anchorage and the surrounding areas in 2017 for two weeks...what's not to like. cold, snow, non-crowded, mountain views, and cooler summers are right up my alley. A good day for me is below 18 degrees with a blizzard.

      Thank you, that's a good idea for me. I've always wanted to move to Anchorage Alaska, however the real issue is thinking of jobs. I like technology, programming, support etc but idk what jobs would really be available in Alaska since it's obviously a lot tougher of a place than California or Ohio and people wouldn't care as much for tech.

    • @BlizzardSeeker

      Yes it is, the only drawback for me is moving possessions there economically.

      @@nicholasbrooks7349 Google IT, PC help desk, PC technician, programer jobs, etc. in Alaska or search by a city in Alaska. hospitals, clinics, Realtors, retail chains (like Walmart, Home depot, etc.) rely on computers and networks. You just have to search and have the skills for the position, also try searching for Open Competitive jobs, which are government jobs open to all US citizens, no prior government employment necessary.

    Alaska needs people who do stuff, especially with their hands as the older generation starts retiring and dying off. Trades and truck driving will pay more than healthcare type positions even though both are equally important. We're flooded with service industry workers and many are summer seasonal jobs. 😮

    Hello Jamin, I am in North Carolina and my dream is to move to Alaska. I was born & raised here but the appeal of Alaskan life is calling my name. I am in the IT field, specifically networking/security. Basically, as soon as I can find a job offer (ideally with relocation assistance) to Alaska, I'm moving there. When that time comes I would be interested in working with you for real estate services. I am a contractor with a security clearance, so I can work on DoD facilities doing IT work. I've done a lot of research on the state of Alaska, and looks like DoD main markets are Anchorage or Fairbanks. If you happen to know anyone hiring in IT please keep me in mind. I've done a lot of my own research, and I'm not asking you to do any work for me, but more so if you have connections that may advise or help that would be great. Thank you sir

    Just because jobs are listed it dies not mean it's a decent paying job, many industries have a ton of posting only because the pay is substandard, as in you will not want to do it for what they are offering.

    My husband and I are seriously considering moving to Alaska; Fairbanks area potentially. We are aging out (50+) for an environment as harsh as Alaska can be. We both love the outdoors and plan to be in it. He is an avid hunter and wants to become a hunting guide. I’m am well- skilled in many areas and am considering teaching. I’m don’t have my teaching license but do have a MA and am willing to do more schooling. What advice can you give us?

    • @alaska_realtor
      @alaska_realtor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Devra, that's exciting! The big thing I would recommend is to come up and visit and stay in some Airbnbs in the area that you believe yall will like the most. Shop for the area first, and then shop for the individual property. For the employment, if you're just trying to get your feet under you, I would recommend hopping in as a substitute teacher. In ASD a few years ago, it was $150 for a whole day, so that wasn't a ton but it was enough to get started.

    The best job , if you're a white guy with a clean record , is to be an Anchorage cop . They have done the worst job in 35 years because the police department is so corrupt . There's crack and dealers of other hard drugs THAT NEVER GET ARRESTED . Anchorage cops that have retired still get a pension thats equal to their pay . And they were the highest paid workers in Alaska for many years .
