Hi mate, I'm looking to buy a new Samsung Tv, today at the stores the sales guy told me to look for the Q85T...so far I can't find any review's for it. Is there any difference between the Q85T and Q80T??? By the sound of your review it seems the Q80R is still the better Tv.
Im gonna say it , as a tech nerd , Rtings is a GODSEND , it shows how the major companies are screwing with the consumers every year. Thank you Rtings team , keep up the good work
These folks are nothing short of awesome. Independent, fair, informative and information presented in a way the average person can understand. Thank you Rtings!
It's really fun to see how Rtings has evolved. If you continue to stay true to your core purpose of giving consumers real, thorough tests, you'll continue to thrive.
Purchased the q80t strictly for console gaming and it is awesome! Games feel and look imersive. Had the 70r but wanted hdmi 2.1 for series x. Super happy I did and I think it has a better picture than 70r. Once again 100% gaming TV can't speak for movies or regular TV viewing.
Yeah im looking at either the 70t or 80t for ps5 gaming. I believe Samsung is the only manufacturer that has LFC and freesync premium in their tvs. Still using my plasma from 2012 😎
I have the Q60R, a lot of criticisms about the picture quality and HDR but I use it for gaming (PC with AMD GPU) and movies and is a perfect balance, is good for movies and is awesome for gaming, great response time, almost no ghosting, great freesync range, 120hz, I can live with less movie quality in exchange for great perform in gaming.
@@AndySomething I honestly think yall should rethink if getting the T series..R series is much better do side by side compares with the q70R vs q70T and q80R vs Q80T ..R beats it in both ...I think people think because T is newer and it has dual leds means its better..Thats not the case www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-q80t-vs-samsung-q80r/1819/807?usage=11114&threshold=0.1 q80R beats it look at the SDR HDR. Most def i would go Q80R without question.
I bought a Q70T. If your a gamer and you are on a budget. This entry level QLED is right for you. It has low latency so gaming feels more responsive For example on my Xbox S model, I tested Skyrim. Used to feel like your character waded in mud moving about. Now feels smoother. Picture looks amazing. I didn't want to spend too much, just trying to anticipate the price of the SeriesX coming later in the year. I hope this helps some one with their decision making.
For me it was a toss up between the 65" B9 or Q80T. Decided to go with Q80T I just prefer the no risk of burn-in, the brighter screen, better built in speakers, good pre-calibration, the anti-glare over LGs SUPER glossy finish, lower input lag, HDMI 2.1 and Freesync to boot, i thought I wanted an OLED but this one swung me away.
well you fucked up, q80t is pretty bad compared to b9. b9 beats even the q90t. samsungs 2020 lineup is a complete joke really. most of their 2020 tv's are stepdown versions of 2019 models. meaning q80t is worse than q80r. look it up. wide viewing angles on a va panel means contrast is much lower head on. big tradeoff. you are out of your mind if you think q80t is better than b9/c9 - rtings.com gave summer 2020 tv recommendation top spot to b9 for a reason. no tv has good sound, which is why people that even bothers about sound quality uses avr + speakers anyway. samsung has dropped the ball in the last few years. completely behind. all top tv's are using oled panels now. lcd is for low to mid-end lineups. samsung refuses to use oled because lg makes the panels, and stick to the outdated lcd tech. sad but true. samsung needs micro led badly to be able to compete again. meanwhile they are trying to convince their lcd tv's are still decent but they are not. i have seen q90t side by side with cx in a dimmed room and it was night and day in most cases. turn of the light completely and oled simply comes to life where lcd shows it's huge weakness; mediocre blacks and smearing/clouding/bleeding.
@@Dr.WhetFarts Samsung's models replace the model before them so the Q80T replaces the Q70R and is significantly better than the 70R for around the same (release) price with some features better than the 80R and some worse but with HDM2.1 and Freesync unlike the 80R. VS the B9 it just looks better, I agree the CX looks really good, its got the advantages of an OLED and goes bright while the B9 doesn't, its pretty dim in comparison to the 80T (I think like half the brightness) its quite a significant difference, enough to trade off that little bit of extra darkness for a much brighter, richer, more vibrant screen. Some stuff that rtings.com goes into isn't all that important, smooth movement at 120Hz who cares? Bit of blooming again isn't a deal breaker, what is a deal breaking is rtings.com burn-in test. About 7000hrs life-span for an OLED? No thanks, watch a significant amount of news/sport/game/use it as a monitor everyday you WILL get burn-in, no thanks. Not to mention Samsung have their default 5 year warranty + a 10year warranty for burn-in/pixel degradation. LG doesn't even cover 1.
@@jahismygod2 Q70R has better contrast and better black level - crucial parameters, that has direct influence on overall picture quality. Q80T has better reflections handling and vieweing angles to the detrement of picture quality, so why is Q80T better, then Q70R thou?
Just picked ours up today. Only 2 left in the store so I grabbed the Q80T. Was also contemplating the LG C9 OLED but the burn in issue was the final decision maker. I do like the contrast of the LG however my little man loves playstation and I dig watching him save the universe over and over again! Follow Rtings recommendations for changing the color for the Q80T makes it get closer to those eye popping images that the OLED's produce.
it's funny that people still think oled has a big risk of burn-in ... and then you buy a mid-end tv instead (still pay high-end price tho). lcd has way more cons than oled at this point. samsungs 2020 models are a stepdown from the 2019 models. samsung tv's are pretty bad at this point. oled has been hammering them since 2015-2016. every top tv uses oled at this point, because lcd can't compete.
Just wanted to add to the chorus of thank you’s. Been slogging through online stores trying to understand the differences between technologies and which ones are worth investing in and your website and videos are amazing. I feel like I could work in a showroom and explain these tv’s now. Most importantly, you’ve helped me decide what I should purchase. Thank you, you’ve been incredibly helpful!
After watching the reviews of this year's samsung line up I just bought a Q70R while I could still find one, and I got for $1100 with tax. Thank you for your reviews, I look forward to getting my new TV!
@@movielover3416 is lg c9 really way better then q90r? how about probably burn in issues? Cant choose between samsung's qled and lg's oled. I know, that picture quality overall better on oled, but that burn in issues makes me confusing.
@TIOTIO 3 years is not true at all. Lifespan before visibly degrading is between 8 and 10 years with average usage.. especially for the newer models. OLED has a lot of myths. You should read more into it. And even LED degrades over time.. for OLED it's the organic material, for LED it's the backlighting getting weaker/dimmer over time.
Good review, and mirrors my experience. I own this TV I also have the 6, 7, and 8 series 4K Samsung TVs, and a Q60, and this Q80T... The difference between this TV and the Q60 2018 or 2019, is noticeably, quicker in the speed of the processor navigating menus. I think that it upscales better also. The picture just seems a little "sharper," the colors defined crisp (disclaimer: of course the room previously was home to a 6 series, non QLED which can't compare) The reviewer noted that in a bright room, this TV is noticeably better, with less reflection, and it was largely why I bought it. The open plan lliving room connected to the family room area, has windows on both sides across the front of the house, and to the patio in back, and the original 6 series curved screen had glare from room lights, and needed the blinds closed to watch clearly. This TV is great in that bright area, and my wife got a significant bump up in TV size to the 6 series curve screen for her office. It works well there with no screen glare But I have to say that my earlier 7 series ( 2018 ? with chrome colored bezel all around) has as good a picture as either of our newer QLEDs. IMO The menu system that Samsung uses, the hidden bar across the bottom works fine, and I've used Samsung for so many years, that the learning curve isn't very steep. and Samsung's "OneRemote" is the best available remote out there as far as I'm concerned. Some have complained that you have to drill down through too many levels to access functions. But I find that the commonly used functions are right on the surface, and most things are directly acceeable.. In fact, once the picture reaches an acceptable threshold, the remote control is a strong part of my decision to purchase these. I love the OneRemote system. Like other Samsung TVs, I've had problems with them connecting to the network automatically when started up (that includes 2 other Samsung TVs at our business location too). But it may be that updates correct that, because after a couple incidents where I have to unplug the TV, plug it back in, it "finds" the network, and connects automatically. Like I say, its been a problem with the 6 series, and the the 2 QLEDs, the 60 and 80T.. I don't know why, but it gets better. Overall, I'm glad I bought it. An excellent TV for the price. As indicated it went into the Living/Family room area, and it handles the light and reflection from the windows well, with a good sharp picture. I would buy it again and can recommend it.
ADS it is better than VA, RTINGS reviews are wrong about it, look at this tv ADS (IPS) used first by LG intense colors and blacks equal or even better than the VA panel when calibrated and doesn´t has local dimming th-cam.com/video/mWKtd2mrod8/w-d-xo.html also I have to say ADS colors are accurate, VA's colors are inaccurate.
Just picked up the 65" Q80T for my mothers 84th birthday, she watches daytime tv in a room with a huge window casting natural light on the TV the anti reflection on this TV is amazing combined with the high brightness. The only downside for her is the simplified remote that does not have a numeric keypad, going to pick her up a blue tooth after market one which will serve her needs better.
Thanks RTINGS for the video! I've been thinking of getting this TV because I use my tv as a second monitor, and this TV doesn't have any concern surrounding burn-in (otherwise i'd get an OLED). Input latency is low for gaming too which is great. I'm holding off getting it till the PS5 comes out - I want to be 100% sure the Q80T can do 4k 120hz. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has a better recommendation for excellent picture quality, low input lag, minimal/no burn-in, good hdr display.
I bought the Q80t (65") last week. I'm returning it. I'll wait for the Q90t review to make a decision between QLED and OLED. it's not a bad tv at all. The image is very good and detailed. However I wasn't blown away.
not even close, you always overpay with samsung tv's, even tho they are not that good. tcl has much better value tv's than q80t for example. pay 25-40% less and get better image quality than q80t.
I think if Samsung hadn't shifted their lineup around the Q80T (should be Q70T) could have been the best bang for buck. As is... The Sony X900H seems to be the best bang for buck option. As it is now, the Q80T is in the price range of the X950H
After viewing about 5 videos on tv ratings/reviews, you've definitely helped me make my decision today with this tv. i just wish it came with the vga input for an old vcr system i never use anymore but might if i ever want to view old tapes i have on my shelves.
Samsung have been downgrading their TVs for the last 2 years. Their 2018 FN line were the best TVs they have ever made to date. That year they really pushed the technology in their 4K LEDs and went after Oled. But now it seems they are more concerned with 8K and nurfing their LED TVs to push their Q Oled TVs next year. And after all this Oled bashing they have been doing over the last 5 years and saying Qleds are the future. Shame on you Samsung you hypocrites.
Mikey paul I was lucky to just score a Q8FN but just found out that it won’t be at all descent for playing consoles with the series x or PS5 because it doesn’t have HDMI 2.1 :(. Will these new consoles still work properly with HDMI 2.0 that doesn’t support 120fps?
stryfetc1 thanks man! I actually took the leap of faith and jumped into a Samsung Q90T. Just had it delivered a week ago and it’s still in the box. I’m gonna set it up at my new place. Only downside to even the new Qleds is they only have the one HDMI 2.1 Port. But it does have EARC so yesterday I ordered the HW-Q800T Dolby Atmos sound bar for it. I’m hoping they come out with a HDMI 2.1 switcher that won’t downgrade the 4K/120hz. But the 90T has a beautiful picture like my Q8FN did. I was gonna go with the LG CX but my cousin after less then 2 months got burn in already and had to pay 1100$ to have it repaired as warranty doesn’t cover it
I formerly bought Vizio, but began trading out the fleet of Vizio, for Samsung, and worked my way up to this one. I like them. I have 6 in the house, and 2 in my business office. Viewing angle is fine. This home is only about 1400 square feet, so the rooms are not large enough to get far enough to one side to compromise a 49 or 55 inch TV... I have a Apple watch with an OLED screen, so I'm aware of the difference in screens, but for this price point, and Samsung panel consistency, I'll stick with Samsung.... Yes, glad I bought this, although when I'm scrolling through the menus of movies it seems to accelerate and want to skip forward a little too fast, and overshoots my selection sometimes... That will be something I suspect I can correct in settings, or will be fixed in an over air software update. the color, brightness, and sharp picture are what I wanted. "Bright picture" I'm not annoyed by all the adware apps on the TV, I just bypass them. I have Roku4K, Apple4K and Firestick4K anyway and if I really want to dig deep for content I go to them. But usually I use the built-in apps. Good TV the Q80T. Would buy it again, and would in fact replace several of my other TVs if they weren't all working just fine already.
Thank you for the review. Very helpful. I had a Q70R 75". Wanted to upgrade to 82" and got a 82" 60R. It was not even comparable to quality of Q70R. I wanted to change it to 82" Q70R but due to COVID-19, I couldn't exchange. Now I went to get a Q70R or Q80R which are no longer available and impossible to find. I went ahead and bought Q80T- 82". It is no where near last year's Q80R. To be honest, my old Q70R would have been better. It is much more expensive than the Q70R but almost same quality if not less. I do not know why Samsung did such a thing but it definitely disappointed me, especially when the sales person was trying to sell me Sony instead and as a Samsung enthusiast, I insisted on getting Samsung thinking it will be better.
Not sure what you paid for yours but the Q80T is the same price as the Q70R, and is better in almost every single way (although not by much). It's just this year's version of the Q70R. I can definitely see why you got confused though.
Great review and interesting comparisons. I should have watched this video BEFORE I bought our Q80T last week lol, Since it is replacing a Samsung LN52A530 from around 2008ish I am sure we will appreciate the new technology.
@@norwidgie We like the tv per se, but the smart tv aspect I am not overly enthisiastic about. The TV knows everything we tabe of our cable box. everything we watch on TV. Netflix, Amazon, Disney, TH-cam etc etc. In fact the TV knows my wife's watching habits better than I do :)
@@sequelman8997 more than happy i calibrated it with help from a forum i had found and picture is super nice if you can get one at a discount the extras of the q80t just don't hold up in my opinion.
Hey will you be updating the review with the new firmware update 1460.9 released today. Just want to know if it does improve picture quality and bug fixes to local dimming. I just got a Q80t 55" and its on the 1402 firmware.
If you plan on getting the new Xbox series x or ps5, this has fully supported hdmi 2.1 that is needed for 4K gaming at 120 Hz. The q 90r and q80r don’t have this capability. So Q70-90T are all great options for next gen gaming consoles. Plus motion is better for nfl, college football, etc. these are my top two needs so q80t was a great fit. If you just watch movies and Tv get the Q90R or q80r.
Yeahs compared to last year, this years QLED 4K tv from Samsung are basically a dumbed down version of 2019. You were better off with 2019, unless you really wanted HDMI 2.1.
@@DYGMacFresh samsung has been bad for years, since 2016-2017 they have not had a proper high-end offering. oled simply smashes them, which is why every other brand uses oled in their top-end tv's and keep lcd for their entry and mid-end tv's. buying an expensive samsung tv is the most stupid thing to do. you will pay a premium for bad image quality.
Didn’t mention “Q SYMPHONY.” It’s amazing and is the another impressive feature that Samsung 2020 q80/90 have. I heard it at Best Buy and it made the sound experience 10 times better.
@@Dr.WhetFarts The majority of people rely on the sound coming from their Tv. So dismissing the difference is sound quality coming from the TV altogether is a joke. That's the reason why it's included in most reviews.
In the UK the Q80T 55 inch is 1399 GBP inclusive of VAT, and 65 is 1799 GBP inclusive of VAT. There's an offer going so I picked the 55 inch for 1119.20£. I await PS5 launch now.
Hi, just wondering if the UK version of this TV has a hdmi 2.1 port? I'd imagine there is no difference between the UK and US model but just want to make sure as I'm also in the UK
No mention of 4k 120Hz Q80T supports and inclusion of HDMI 2.1 port that also supports eARC? I have 85” Q80T, I’d like to know a bit more about HDMI 2.1 support.
Had the Q80R and it was great, purchased the Q80T for the 120hz at 4K and was very very disappointed awful for the money a real down grade in every sense either stick with the Q80R series or see what Samsung has to offer next year. Glad I could return so don’t risk being dissapointed
@@amaanhussain98 Nope. Basically: nothing is, unless you're watching movies/gaming in a fully sun-lit room in the afternoon or you're extremely scared of burn-in.
I have a 2017 Vizio M65-E1 and it's going to be replaced soon. Given budget restraints, I'm looking at the Sony X900H and Samsung Q80T because I plan on getting the PS5 when pre-order drops and, thanks to a protection plan, I'll be getting a big amount of credit for the Vizio. Which of these two TV's should I be looking harder at?
Disappointing, I'd take the better native contrast of the Q70T, over lower native contrast and poor local dimming of the Q80T. Viewing angle is not an issue from our seating positions.
On a 55inch or up screen, you're still off axis to some of the screen at all times, hence a wide angle filter keeps the screen more uniform and not brighter on the parts you're not central to so the screen appears blacker than a screen with higher native contrast and weaker viewing angles. Same is true for the Sony XH95, it has a lower contrast the the XG95 but appears better because the sides of the screen (if you're sitting central) aren't lighter than the centre.
Yeah im honestly thinking the same now. The reason I wanted full array local dimming is because I would assume it would give better contrast ratio that an edge lit tv.
@It's Evelyn Amazing picture quality the black levels wow!!!! you wont be disappointed, best $ can buy the only one that is similar is the LG OLED but almost twice the price
@@gerardofollano8417 Hi there. No, unfortunately I didn't get it yet lol. I had to delay delivery because it started with replacing the wall mount, and it kinda spiraled out of control from there. 🙄😆 Painting, drywall repair, mud tape sanding, getting rid of stuff, etc. Not to mention replacing all the trim and baseboards too. So now I'm in the final stages of getting ready to paint soon. All of this shit simply because of a new TV.😭😭 I guess it'll be worth it when it's done lol.
first, congratulations !!!. and second, did you play some video games with it? Samsung didn't release the Q80T here in Egypt yet and I'm not really sure they will as the Qled isn't that popular here I guess so I might go with the 70T for my PS4 Pro and upcoming PS5. If you game on it, does it stutter or has blooming and how is the FPS ?
I have the Q80T in 85 and have pretty annoying DSE. You might have made a good move wity the Q70. Swapping for either a replacement panel or a LG Nano 91. Hopefully that fixes it.
Have you received the 2021 Samsung Q80A yet? I spoke to Samsung today and there appears to be a few major differences from the Q80T --- 1) 4 HDMI 2.1 Ports! 2) Supreme UHD Dimming 3) Auto Game Mode (ALLM) 4) 4K AI Upscaling 5) Spacefit Sound. Thanks!
I wish I could afford an OLED TV! but can't ...my current TV is a 65" KS8000 and it has been great! but I want a bigger one...I'm looking at this Q80T in 85inches! Besides the bigger screen, is this a real upgrade over my current KS8000? The HDR doesn't seem much better..can't say...I wish I could afford a LG CX 77" but nope....Great review...thanks!
Sebbz please expand on this. So none of the new nvidia cards support 2.1 HDMI? Can this tv actually do 120hz at 4K when such graphic cards do come out?
Great review as I am looking to purchase a new 65" and no more Sony's ( problems with burn in :( ) as I've had bad experiences on 3 of them. I've narrowed it down to LG and Samsung. I have a XBR55X900B now
@@bennivideo2164 I've had burn-in before. I don't have enough money to buy such an expensive screen every other year because of burn-in. I use it as my pc monitor and I use the pc a lot so for me, the countdown to burn-in is much shorter than someone just using it as a regular tv or just not using it as many hours a day as I do.
It does have HDMI 2.1 support with Freesync premium, auto game mode, low input lag, 4k/120fps support so yes, this tv will work good for Next-gen consoles.
I agree. It's a shame so many TVs nowdays don't have it. And regarding the wobble - who cares? Its not like theres earthquakes every day. Once you place it somewhere you never touch it again.
@@kirankirikiri23 I think it is. I do not know if samples vary in quality, but i am experiencing a really good picture and cannot see blooming. Contrast is excellent as well as colors and brightness and tv interface is pretty snappy and great looking. Ofcorse you will notice in some scenes that black isn't 100% black (like it is in oled) but other than that it is really good tv with excellent blacks which was very important factor for me. Just be sure that you don't have a big sources of light against tv. Judging from reviews ,this tv has good reflection handling but I would say that is not great either (it doesn't have anti-reflection layer like more expensive 95T). But allegedly a lot of pricier models (and OLEDs) have worse handling of reflections, so I wouldn't bother much with this if you stick to aforementioned advice. For that price it is great buy, ofcourse if you can afford buying OLED for 1300-1400 EUR that would be even better choice, especially if you often watch movies and tv shows in dark.
Good to see, one thing that truly baffles me is Samsung's choice to continue to leave out Dolby Vision on their panels. There is ZERO valid reason why they can't add it at this price point given they're the only high end LCD TV that doesn't offer it on premium end, not to mention that Samsung pricing on their models is a bit out of touch given overall you will be better off with LG OLED (burn in is more of a worry then actual problem for most people as Rtings and others have tested) or other brands charging nearly half for 90% of the picture, adding Dolby Vision, and other great features. Lastly one thing I can't stand with Samsung is the AD's they post on every device, if you paid $1000-2000 on a tv you should not have ad's shoved in your face period
Currently waiting for the Q90T review! It’s between that TV or the LG C9, maybe even the LG CX that I am debating on purchasing later this year. I currently have a 65 inch Q7FN
Thing is the Sony XH95 has the wide angle filter too and the screen actually looks blacker because you don't have the same VA panel contrast shift off axis. Because with a 55inch and up screen, you are definitely not central to all of the screen. So I bet the Q80T actually looks blacker than the Q70T does because it's more uniform all over. Unfortunately in the UK we don't get the wide angle filter on the Q80T
Trump Ameri that’s the only thing, but at that price point you can get a 2019 LG OLED for the same price or cheaper. They have HDMI 2.1. I just wouldn’t pay the same amount. But not many people are going to just get a tv just for hdmi 2.1. Not everyone games.
I’m on the market for a TV to pair with the PS5 but I only have about an $800 limit for one, I’m looking at this one and the TCL 6-Series. The lack of 4k@120hz is a turn off, I’d rather not have limited potential. Definitely prefer OLED and full array but beggars can’t be choosers, right? Any input on the better of the two or a recommendation on a better suited unit would much appreciated.
Love to review. Samsung I am disappointed with all of there tvs that's why I have not got one older tvs where amazing and in the last few years thay are terrible but oled prices. Just use oled and stop making these crap leds unless put some work into it Qled is a scam I think
@Neon Pizza Ips panel? No, bro. I,m pretty sure it still is VA. It even says so in the video title. I guess they made some changes to the viewing angle filter though.
How well does this TV deal with detail in dark areas? I did a comparison with a Q8FN and comparable Sony and the Q8FN crushed dark details into black, while the Sony was able to maintain good shadow detail.
I wish RTNGS would test for black smear, and also pixel accuracy, I bought a Hisense A6G that was recommended by TV RTINGs as a 9.0 for PC monitor use, but when it arrived it had HORRIBLE interlacing (probably the 8bit+frc) - each alternate line was lighter or darker, this made it horrible for PC monitor use yet RTINGS never mentioned it. I ended up sending it back. Plus they do not test for VA blacksmear? I have read posts from people who bought TVs with good motion scores, but they've turned out to have horrible VA blacksmear. Most of the 55" panels and up now are sadly VA so testing for blacksmear should be essential. Plus they rated the LG CX as a good PC monitor OLED, yet it has colour aberation/fringing due to the RGBW subpixel layout, this should have got a 5.0 as a PC monitor at most, not a score of 9.
Had the Q70T for a week now I’m going to return because it doesn’t have a ultra viewing angle it’s very noticeable when you sit on the center and on the side when watching...
@@willjackson4505 When you got the Q80 over the Q70 did you notice any perceived downgrade in the brightness and contrast because of the Ultra Wide viewing?
Thank you for spending the time to review and give more detail on this TV as I'm looking to purchase a new one as my old one panel went bad. I really considering this TV but do you happen to know what TV model replaced or is comparable to the Samsung UN55KS8000FXZA model from a few years ago? Thanks again
Could you guys please address the issues that people are having with stutter while watching cable sports? Namely NFL football on NBC, but all networks are an issue. Its all over the Samsung site and others. You all should definitely adjust the motion rating to account for this. I bought this model based on your reviews mainly, I’m returning it later this week because on the aforementioned motion stutter issue that is widespread. Thanks I really enjoy your videos otherwise.
Q70 has twice as much contrast as q80 yup samsungs quality control for tvs seems to get worst every year with out caring samsung puts all the money into 8k now hit the nerf button on 4ks they dont matter Glad the KS8000 series was good every thing is nearly trash after that series
Why get so caught up in numbers, the Sony XH95 has the wide angle filter, so slightly lower contrast than last year's XG95 (under 75inch) and the actual image looks identical contrast wise, plus the edges of the screen don't look that little bit lighter. On a 55inch or up screen you're rarely bang centre to all of the screen which is important for a VA panel LCD. So I imagine the Q80T will actually look blacker or at least identical to the Q70T because it's uniformly black compared to the Q70T that probably looks lighter at the sides compared to the middle or wherever you're sat central to.
Kevin Brown I also just got the Q90T and still have by KS8000 and I completely agree. The Q90T looks great and I have zero regrets getting it. People are obsessing too much on the difference from last year's model. I've seen both the Q90R and the Q90T and the PQ is just as good IMHO. The only negative side to the Q90T is Samsung for rid of the ONE Connect box and it's clear that it was to be able to lower the price of the TV

*Can we install Q90T stand on Q80T ?* - I just found it pretier !!!
Samsung q80t series or Sony XH95. Thank you
Im gonna say it , as a tech nerd , Rtings is a GODSEND , it shows how the major companies are screwing with the consumers every year. Thank you Rtings team , keep up the good work
Rtings and Fomo on tech saying all crucial things about everything what is important
I like how to presents things that marketing doesn’t think is important like color accuracy and neutral sound for headphones
Tbf if people buy something this expensive without doing any research then they’re asking to be screwed over
Frank Wilmans, since you are a tech, l have a few questions about this TV?
not really , they dont do philips tvs, they are perhaps bad but they are often on sale
Rtings - doing God's work since inception. I for one, am extremely grateful for your work.

You guys make some next-level content. Thank you!
Glad you enjoy it!
Same thing i did. Getting ready for the ps5
@@AndySomething I honestly think yall should rethink if getting the T series..R series is much better do side by side compares with the q70R vs q70T and q80R vs Q80T ..R beats it in both ...I think people think because T is newer and it has dual leds means its better..Thats not the case
www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-q80t-vs-samsung-q80r/1819/807?usage=11114&threshold=0.1
q80R beats it look at the SDR HDR. Most def i would go Q80R without question.
I’m using my new tv for series x too, but can’t decide between Q70t or Q80t
That was the scientific analysis I was looking for!
I bought a Q70T. If your a gamer and you are on a budget. This entry level QLED is right for you. It has low latency so gaming feels more responsive
For example on my Xbox S model, I tested Skyrim. Used to feel like your character waded in mud moving about. Now feels smoother.
Picture looks amazing. I didn't want to spend too much, just trying to anticipate the price of the SeriesX coming later in the year. I hope this helps some one with their decision making.
Cheers bro
For me it was a toss up between the 65" B9 or Q80T. Decided to go with Q80T
I just prefer the no risk of burn-in, the brighter screen, better built in speakers, good pre-calibration, the anti-glare over LGs SUPER glossy finish, lower input lag, HDMI 2.1 and Freesync to boot, i thought I wanted an OLED but this one swung me away.
well you fucked up, q80t is pretty bad compared to b9. b9 beats even the q90t. samsungs 2020 lineup is a complete joke really. most of their 2020 tv's are stepdown versions of 2019 models. meaning q80t is worse than q80r. look it up. wide viewing angles on a va panel means contrast is much lower head on. big tradeoff. you are out of your mind if you think q80t is better than b9/c9 - rtings.com gave summer 2020 tv recommendation top spot to b9 for a reason. no tv has good sound, which is why people that even bothers about sound quality uses avr + speakers anyway. samsung has dropped the ball in the last few years. completely behind. all top tv's are using oled panels now. lcd is for low to mid-end lineups. samsung refuses to use oled because lg makes the panels, and stick to the outdated lcd tech. sad but true. samsung needs micro led badly to be able to compete again. meanwhile they are trying to convince their lcd tv's are still decent but they are not. i have seen q90t side by side with cx in a dimmed room and it was night and day in most cases. turn of the light completely and oled simply comes to life where lcd shows it's huge weakness; mediocre blacks and smearing/clouding/bleeding.
@@arthurfonzerelli6484 Reflection handling, viewing angle, grey uniformity, colour volume, accuracy, gradient. Response times, input lag, audio, HDM2.1, etc.
Did you get the q80t? I m shopping around now. Plan on getting xbox x series.
REALLY WANTED THE Q70R. Will be saving for the Q80T
Just got the last one in my country. Sad really but at least t was priced well
Just picked ours up today.
@@Dr.WhetFarts i'm going out on a limb here... do you have an OLED?
RollingnBodfish93518 I actually wound up going with an LG C9 I’m in love with this Tv.
Just wanted to add to the chorus of thank you’s. Been slogging through online stores trying to understand the differences between technologies and which ones are worth investing in and your website and videos are amazing. Rtings , you always do the best job reviewing tv's. Simply professional
After watching the reviews of this year's samsung line up I just bought a Q70R while I could still find one, and I got for $1100 with tax. Thank you for your reviews, I look forward to getting my new TV!
Like you I got a Q70r hard to find better than the 2020 junk Samsung selling this year
I had the q70r.. also the Q90R and q85r.. im done with Qled.. now I got the LG C9. World of difference
@@movielover3416 is lg c9 really way better then q90r? how about probably burn in issues? Cant choose between samsung's qled and lg's oled. I know, that picture quality overall better on oled, but that burn in issues makes me confusing.
@TIOTIO yeah, but i use my current tv for 8 years, and i wish to use my new tv for the same period of time)
@TIOTIO 3 years is not true at all. Lifespan before visibly degrading is between 8 and 10 years with average usage.. especially for the newer models. OLED has a lot of myths. You should read more into it. And even LED degrades over time.. for OLED it's the organic material, for LED it's the backlighting getting weaker/dimmer over time.
thanks for cutting down the research time to just a single video. Man! we need more of these comparisons
The picture just seems a little "sharper," the colors defined crisp (disclaimer: of course the room previously was home to a 6 series, non QLED which can't compare)
The reviewer noted that in a bright room, this TV is noticeably better, with less reflection, and it was largely why I bought it. It works well there with no screen glare
But I have to say that my earlier 7 series ( 2018 ? with chrome colored bezel all around) has as good a picture as either of our newer QLEDs. IMO
The menu system that Samsung uses, the hidden bar across the bottom works fine, and I've used Samsung for so many years, that the learning curve isn't very steep. and Samsung's "OneRemote" is the best available remote out there as far as I'm concerned.
Love your website. Honestly one of the best for comparisons of specs. So these videos are a nice way to go even deeper.
At least it doesn't burn like OLED TV.
It will be my next TV for sure
Samsung qled is relative pricey for just led tv look further might save bucks.
And you might reconsider oled the lg 65cx is super! And cheaper then the q80 65 inch from what i see in my country.
masomaf or the sony 900h?
Jonathan Guzman personally i am a big fan of oled
@@masomaf I don't want an OLED but thanks for your answer
I think youre gonna have to wait till 2021 samsung screwed you unless you want 55 inch
It does 4k 120 on HDMI 2.1 port 4
I bought the Q80t (65") last week. I'm returning it. I'll wait for the Q90t review to make a decision between QLED and OLED.
it's not a bad tv at all. The image is very good and detailed. However I wasn't blown away.
did you end up returning the 80t my friend?
if so what did you end up with
probably the best (bang for buck) non oled tv for 2020 q80t
not even close, you always overpay with samsung tv's, even tho they are not that good. tcl has much better value tv's than q80t for example. pay 25-40% less and get better image quality than q80t.
I think if Samsung hadn't shifted their lineup around the Q80T (should be Q70T) could have been the best bang for buck. As is... The Sony X900H seems to be the best bang for buck option. As it is now, the Q80T is in the price range of the X950H
dr. whet farts TCL tvs doesn’t even support HMDI 2.1 or VRR so yeah if you are a gamer Samsung is better.
After viewing about 5 videos on tv ratings/reviews, you've definitely helped me make my decision today with this tv. i just wish it came with the vga input for an old vcr system i never use anymore but might if i ever want to view old tapes i have on my shelves.
I think maybe adapters for hooking up older game consoles would work... right? Or rca to hdmi adapter...?
@@ATMcrespo Never knew they made them. Saw one I'd like to try on Amazon.com. for 17.99 cheap ones aren't working.
Yup.. ill stick with my q8fn. So glad I got it when I did.
@Jimmybrawd27 get an LG B9
Proud to see another emobro who keep the style over the years
Thank you for the review.
I've been waiting for this review! Thanks!

Given budget restraints, I'm looking at the Sony X900H and Samsung Q80T because I plan on getting the PS5 when pre-order drops and, thanks to a protection plan, I'll be getting a big amount of credit for the Vizio. Which of these two TV's should I be looking harder at?
I’ll be going for the QU80T 👀
how is it? im gonna buy it soon
I will by it today...is it good 4 gaming?
When are you reviewing Q90T?

Have you received the 2021 Samsung Q80A yet? I spoke to Samsung today and there appears to be a few major differences from the Q80T --- 1) 4 HDMI 2.1 Ports! 2) Supreme UHD Dimming 3) Auto Game Mode (ALLM) 4) 4K AI Upscaling 5) Spacefit Sound. Thanks!
When are you guys doing the lg cx review?
Already did on the site
Video review should be posted on Monday
@@RTINGSdotcom thank you
the 65 inch version is in the budget now I take it its better than the XH90 but not the XH95?
Desperately need a Sony 950h review!
I'm thinking of buying a 950h. The few reviews I've found are pretty good.
Gaming in 4K 120hz ( hdmi 2.1 ). ? Input lag?
It’s not possible to test yet. No HDMI 2.1 consoles or graphics cards out yet
I have a XBR55X900B now
I bought the Q80T over the LG CX just I'm not stressing out over the potential burn-in. But god damn the picture quality I'm missing out on :/
Its not that different in picture quality. And OLED is hard to get burn in so i would not worry about that.
Best TV/Monitor Reviewer! RTings FTW
Hi, would you recommend this TV for ps5 and/or xbox series x or is it too soon to ask ?
Thinking the same thing would love an answer
I say get the Q90T/Q95T or the LG CX to get your money's worth
It does have HDMI 2.1 support with Freesync premium, auto game mode, low input lag, 4k/120fps support so yes, this tv will work good for Next-gen consoles.
1:50 central is so much better because it allows for more versitile positioning in most cases, I'd say
I agree. It's a shame so many TVs nowdays don't have it. And regarding the wobble - who cares? Its not like theres earthquakes every day. Once you place it somewhere you never touch it again.
great video thanks!, now LG BX missing!

I bought yesterday 55Q80 for about 850 EUR (1000 USD), will enjoy it I hope ) Good review btw.
Bro where did you buy it? Online or instore? Which country in Europe?
@@kirankirikiri23 I bought it online through Web shop. Croatia, store "Sancta Domenica", they had black Friday discounts.
@@domagoj5455 ok thank you 😊
@@domagoj5455 so do you like this tv? Is it worth going for?
Damn. I almost went and bought one but they keep down grading. Come on sansung!
Great option if want next gen gaming console. HDMI 2.1 full support.
It is not a downgrade check out the specs
@@mikerodgers3754 so its good 4 gaming. How meny Hz is it?
@@norwidgie 120
Not really. The viewing angles are way better, motion blur better and the handling of glare. Even if the Q80R is there, will still go for the q80t
This is because the brand new sound by Samsung called "Q-Symphony".
Fuck Dolby vision
Sony X950H coming soon ?
They purchased the TV but it’s not in the lab yet.
@@urbanistgod how did you know that ?
Incognito There’s a page on Rtings.com where you can suggest and vote for TVs for future reviews and we can see on the the list the x950H.
Currently waiting for the Q90T review! It’s between that TV or the LG C9, maybe even the LG CX that I am debating on purchasing later this year. I currently have a 65 inch Q7FN
Yeah I might just pick up a Q90R when they're getting rid of the last models or pick up a C9 or CX later this year.
I got the LG C9, pretty pleased with it after trading in my Q90R.
At the expense of contrast...VA with 3000:1 in 2020, not good
Thing is the Sony XH95 has the wide angle filter too and the screen actually looks blacker because you don't have the same VA panel contrast shift off axis. Because with a 55inch and up screen, you are definitely not central to all of the screen. So I bet the Q80T actually looks blacker than the Q70T does because it's more uniform all over. Unfortunately in the UK we don't get the wide angle filter on the Q80T
Fuck this dated LCD tech.
Outstanding stuff.... superb work
Where is the Q90T review
Like seriously, almost no one has reviewed it. All the lower level TV's are meh.
If you can find a Q90R 2019, get it. The 2020 Q90T is basically last years Q80R. It has less local dimming zones and a lower peak brightness.
I just got the Q90T a week ago and it is an excellent tv. Also if you have access to Best Buy it's on sale right now for $2,499
@@DYGMacFresh that's what I was somewhat expecting.
@@DYGMacFresh 90T is possible choice for gaming PS5 or Xbox because hdmi 2.1
I have the 65 inch 80 R and luv it!
Have you hooked it up with PC?
Always my go-to channel for TV reviews. You guys rock!
Love to review. Samsung I am disappointed with all of there tvs that's why I have not got one older tvs where amazing and in the last few years thay are terrible but oled prices. Just use oled and stop making these crap leds unless put some work into it Qled is a scam I think

The Future of TVs is NOT What You Think! - Linus
@Neon Pizza Ips panel? No, bro. I,m pretty sure it still is VA. It even says so in the video title. I guess they made some changes to the viewing angle filter though.
@Neon Pizza it's VA.
How well does this TV deal with detail in dark areas? I did a comparison with a Q8FN and comparable Sony and the Q8FN crushed dark details into black, while the Sony was able to maintain good shadow detail.
Such a smooth voice, mmmmm good
I wish RTNGS would test for black smear, and also pixel accuracy, I bought a Hisense A6G that was recommended by TV RTINGs as a 9.0 for PC monitor use, but when it arrived it had HORRIBLE interlacing (probably the 8bit+frc) - each alternate line was lighter or darker, this made it horrible for PC monitor use yet RTINGS never mentioned it.
No DTS. No Dolby vision. No Dolby atmos when samsung when
never, because they are trying to push hdr10+ instead of dolby vision - but hdr10+ is dying and has little to no support.
Those stupid things aren't necessary .
@@afistfulofpimples1745 Exactly! All things you can get in your surround system, and sounds way better then straight out of the tv.
Had the Q70T for a week now I’m going to return because it doesn’t have a ultra viewing angle it’s very noticeable when you sit on the center and on the side when watching...
I returned mine for the q80 and it was a noticeable difference...
@@willjackson4505 When you got the Q80 over the Q70 did you notice any perceived downgrade in the brightness and contrast because of the Ultra Wide viewing?
@@iankaczer1781 Yes it still fades out at a wide viewing angle but not as bad as the Q70.
Q-80 it is. Now I have to talk to the wifey.
How did it go ?
Thank you for spending the time to review and give more detail on this TV as I'm looking to purchase a new one as my old one panel went bad. I really considering this TV but do you happen to know what TV model replaced or is comparable to the Samsung UN55KS8000FXZA model from a few years ago? Thanks again
Next review : Samsung The Frame 2020 please.....
These rtings guys really like to move there hands about when talking 😂
thinking I will go with the Q70R over the Q80T
Can get the q70r for $600 cheaper than the q80
Where? I can't find them. Can u help me out here man? Appreciate it
Q70 has twice as much contrast as q80 yup samsungs quality control for tvs seems to get worst every year with out caring samsung puts all the money into 8k now hit the nerf button on 4ks they dont matter Glad the KS8000 series was good every thing is nearly trash after that series
So I imagine the Q80T will actually look blacker or at least identical to the Q70T because it's uniformly black compared to the Q70T that probably looks lighter at the sides compared to the middle or wherever you're sat central to.
my Q9FN and Q90T blows away my KS8000
Kevin Brown I also just got the Q90T and still have by KS8000 and I completely agree. The Q90T looks great and I have zero regrets getting it. People are obsessing too much on the difference from last year's model. I've seen both the Q90R and the Q90T and the PQ is just as good IMHO. The only negative side to the Q90T is Samsung for rid of the ONE Connect box and it's clear that it was to be able to lower the price of the TV
@@KahluaMike67 The Q95T has the one connect box though.
