great video again Stef ! I was obsessed with the Harrier during the Falklands war; it really did a wonderful job. A really unique aircraft. Red Arrows ? oh, yes I really respect them......seen them a few times at airshows, they never disappoint but the highlight for me only lasted a few seconds when they flew in formation right over my grandad's funeral. such a coincidence, I have always felt it as some kind of tribute to him for his efforts and sacrifices during WW2.
Hey John, yeah it's an amazing aircraft and that demo was really impressive. That's such a great story about the Reds over your Grandfather's funeral, I'm sorry to hear about the circumstances but I can appreciate that would be a special memory for you. Thank you to your Grandfather for his service. Cheers John, I appreciate you sharing that, stef.
I remember many years ago going to the Southend Air Show, we where sitting along the front near a Pub, which was elevated above the beach, the show started and all we could hear was a a jet engine, when suddenly up came the Harrier from below, the pilot hoovered and then tip the aircraft down slightly, saluted turned and was gone. A great aircraft. Loved the three videos you did and all had great content. Congratulations Sir ✈️
Another top video Stefan, I did think that when you went into the shop you would have bought something. I was like, I would have that one and that one and that one and then fly home with a bag full of toy planes lol.
It was SO tempting but honestly we're travelling pretty light this time and there really is no room in the bag. I really should bring an extra bag with me next time...
Thanks Stefan, really enjoyed your coverage of the show - I managed to make it down on Friday so unfortunately missed you and also the marvellous @JonHuntTV
Sadly not going to make it to Oshkosh this year. Currently making my way back to Australia, but I'll definitely be back at Osh sometime soon, I love that airshow. Thanks for the tip about the TBM factory though, stef 👍
Great video! I was there yesterday too and particularly enjoyed the F16 and A350 demos. Generally, though, I thought Airbus' presence on the weekend was pretty weak. There was only about a one hour timeframe during which you could queue up to have a look onboard the A380, and that also coincided with the A350 display. The red arrows were quite cool to see (even though it was just flypasts) as was the aerobatic helicopter - I had no idea a helicopter could be manoeuvred like that. I did think about going down again today but it seems like they're just going to reuse yesterday's displays (don't know that they'll be having the pyrotechnics again though - doing it in that weather was probably not the best of ideas)
Hey James, thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed that. Yeah the queue for the A380 was huge, and I didn't realise that it clashed with the A350 which probably wasn't ideal. I'm not sure why they couldn't open it up in the morning before the airshow started instead. The Red Bull chopper is pretty amazing hey. Hope you enjoyed your time at Farnborough, and thanks for sharing that comment, stef 👍
I've used XPlane for IFR practise at home but that's about it. I think the Flight Sim community is great and I am amazed sometimes how many sim flights can be active at any one time. Perhaps when I retire from being an SR22 pilot I might take it up, I can see a sim in the garage being setup for sure...
Haha, VR is definitely cheaper to do than that! I've been using XPlane to practice circuits and emergency procedures in a PA28 around Moorabbin in between lessons
Thanks George, I'd spoken with the media team at Farnborough after filming my Sun 'n Fun series earlier in the year because I was keen to attend FIA18. I basically asked for the media pass, went through the application process on their website, and paid for my own way there and back.
Thnx, I purchased a GoPro Hero 5 Black for the cockpit on Niko's recommendation, but I'm looking for something the I can use as a handheld to film outside and some of my ground school for a review for myself...
GoPro is a good all rounder. You can vlog with that as well, I'd just play with the settings and not have it set too wide for the vlogging shots, then go back to wide for the cockpit stuff so you get some shot variation. Or vlog on your iPhone, lots of people do that too.
Hey stef if you want a really good air show come to America in July next year for the 4 in traverse City Michigan and go and watch the Blue Angels they are such a fun show to watch I have watch the show like 3 times and it makes me happy every time I watch that show
What a shame the Reds are not allowed to display at Farnborough anymore, their 2018 display is very good ( as always ) but this is the world we live in now after shoreham.
Stefan Drury Yes that's why the Reds have not been able to do their full display at Farnborough due to restrictions put in place after shoreham altho they still do it at RIAT right over my house so I'm not sure what the problem is with Farnborough' s restrictions.
I was there on Saturday eagerly awaiting the Reds, and couldn't understand why they had not done a display, this now explains everything, Thanks Gaynor
Indeed. One idiot in a Hunter has ruined things for thousands of others. Glad I didn't pay 50 quid to get in this year as the Red Arrows flypast was hardly worth watching. A few years ago their display included flying right over my house, about 3 miles from the runway... but no more :-(
I wanted the Dinky model of the Harrier jump jet for Christmas 1970. It was 10 shillings. My parents did not have that. Then we flew to Australia and had a hot christmas in metal huts in Geelong as 10 pound poms. Have seen the model again but I never bought it.
Philip Guacci yeah I love the hobbymaster range . Beats buying expensive wooden or making plastic models . Btw I thought the air display on Saturday sucked either the exception of the harrier and f-16
Ye gods, the humanity in the intro.! I hate crowds... Thumbs up for Airbus' pride flags, impressive. "Anything better than the Red Arrows?" Um, my son (former USMC F-18 driver) got a ride in the Blue Angels F-18 during their 2 months-long practice time at El Centro CA. They rehearse for the coming year shows during that period. Only currently-qualified active-duty F-18 pilots can do this ride, it's completely different from the PR rides for press and VIPs. It's a full rehearsal of the actual show and no g-suits are worn! After 12 years in the Marines my son decided to go to medical school and he's now in his "residency" (further 3-5 years of training after 4 years of medical school). He would probably count that Blue Angels ride as his best experience in aviation, even after flying F-18s himself for years. Have really enjoyed your Farnborough series.
Thanks Dianne, that would have been such a cool experience for your son. I've never actually seen the Blue Angels perform, I have watched the Thunderbirds at Oshkosh before but from the videos the BAs look amazing as well. Thanks for watching the Farnborough series, and for sharing that story, stef 👍
Oh no, sorry you didn't enjoy it Simon. It was my first so I can't compare it to anything else. I was hoping for a little more from the Reds TBH but apart from that I had a good time over there. Hope you can get to some other airshows you enjoy some more in the future.
It’ was the 100 years of the RAF and a poor show from them at farnborough if only they would lift the display rules and make it like it was years ago with the reds flying around and big fast jets ! Unless things don’t change I will never go back like many others I spoke to at the show !!! Please farnborough take note !!!!!!!!
Holtham01 I mentioned this to the farnborough limited company last time around. It’s not even the restrictions, it’s just they prefer to take everyone’s money even though the industry makes billions... and they provide what was essentially something you could have seen standing at the fences at Heathrow. It’s disgraceful, they couldn’t even be bothered basically. I used to live right next to the runway in the new development, I would go and watch the arrivals... this year I stood on the Sunday week before to watch passenger planes arrive.... I instantly knew I was not going to attend this year and I am glad I didn’t. RIAT for me next year and the future
Worst airshow ever poorly organized poor displays and bearing in mind 100 yrs of the raf I'm a local and used to work here looks like tag are getting there way of squeezing it out . It used to 2 weeks inc all behind scenes practice etc now it s all done in about 8 days or less
That A350 in slow flight is just stunning. What a sight!
I know right? Probably my highlight of the whole week I reckon.
Spreading the aviation joy for those who can’t escape Melbourne. Thanks Stefan!
Cheers Chris, glad you've shared the experience with me, thanks for watching mate.

Thanks for taking us along Stef. Can't wait for the next video!
Thanks for coming along for the show Michael. Next video - my big Cirrus SR20 G6 flight - has just gone up now.
Amazing day! I went on the Friday with cadets and was lucky enough to get to sit in and have a play around with the Westland Lynx!!!
That would have been great, glad you had a fun time there as well. Thanks for watching, stef 👍

Wow that would have been a cool sight. Thanks for following along with the videos Stewart. Cheers, stef 👍
I was there on that day it was amazing!
Hi Stefan!
Great videos - Awesome editing! Thank you for sharing your videos of Farnborough 2018 with us - I am looking forward to your next video!!
Hey Frederick, thanks for coming along for the ride with me, I really appreciate that, stef 👍

Ah sorry to have missed you Jason, hopefully next time.
Yes!, finally a video. Waiting everyday for a upload. Great video as always
Thanks hai, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the awesome support, stef 👍
Nice vídeo man. Thank you
Thanks for watching, stef 👍
A brilliant few days at the show and footage of areas we wouldn’t have got to see
Thanks for following along with me Marvin, glad you enjoyed this series.
Couldn’t wait for this to come out!! Watching in progress...
Thank you! Was a great final day at the show, thanks for watching.
Hello Stefan
are you on your way to Oshkosh, what about checking out the Dahar TBM factory on your way? Great videos btw!
Sadly not going to make it to Oshkosh this year. Currently making my way back to Australia, but I'll definitely be back at Osh sometime soon, I love that airshow. Thanks for the tip about the TBM factory though, stef 👍

I saw an AV8 at Oshkosh in 2015... WOW is that aircraft LOUD! It's a very good 'converter'.
I.E. it's very effective at converting JetA1 into noise!
Haha, it sure was. My ears were ringing a little after that demo, totally worth it though 👍
Didn't realize you were there yesterday! :D
The Burning Grass at the End was a good display!
Haha, airport fire service getting some practise.
lol
Do you use flight sims at all Stef? The AV8B Harrier is a *blast* to learn and fly in DCS: World (and even more fun in VR)
I've used XPlane for IFR practise at home but that's about it. I think the Flight Sim community is great and I am amazed sometimes how many sim flights can be active at any one time. Hey Stefan loved your vids while at the air show question for you how did you get access to the trade days?
Thanks George, I'd spoken with the media team at Farnborough after filming my Sun 'n Fun series earlier in the year because I was keen to attend FIA18. I basically asked for the media pass, went through the application process on their website, and paid for my own way there and back.
Was it possible to go during the weekday ?
Hey Bruce, the weekdays were reserved for trade only, so you need to apply through their trade registration process and get a pass.
What camera are you using for this video, if you don't mind me asking...
Hey Robert, I film on a Canon 80D with a variety of lenses, and sometimes just on my iPhone too.
Thnx, I purchased a GoPro Hero 5 Black for the cockpit on Niko's recommendation, but I'm looking for something the I can use as a handheld to film outside and some of my ground school for a review for myself...

Hey Bayley, thanks for the tip and noted. Much appreciated, stef
What a shame the Reds are not allowed to display at Farnborough anymore, their 2018 display is very good ( as always ) but this is the world we live in now after shoreham.
Is that why we only had 3 fly bys? I was wondering why there were no formation aeros like we saw at Biggin Hill last year.
Stefan Drury Yes that's why the Reds have not been able to do their full display at Farnborough due to restrictions put in place after shoreham altho they still do it at RIAT right over my house so I'm not sure what the problem is with Farnborough' s restrictions.

Must admit I was treated to my ticket by my nephew....The F16 was the best thing for me x
IRL, that Harrier was deafening.
You're not wrong, my ears were ringing after that demo!
Shame the Reds can't display at Farnborough any more :(

I feel your pain...
Ever considered a hobby master harrier instead?
@@prowlus yes I had one of those. Still have it somewhere. Probably in a box at my parents place. Had forgotten until you mentioned it. Cheers.
Philip Guacci yeah I love the hobbymaster range . Beats buying expensive wooden or making plastic models . Btw I thought the air display on Saturday sucked either the exception of the harrier and f-16
no more farboro public fly days anymore all you get is one static day during press week
Public day was awful.
Ye gods, the humanity in the intro.! I hate crowds... Thumbs up for Airbus' pride flags, impressive.

Worst Farnborough air show ever
