- Well, all the credits go to a friend of mine (steamcommunity.com/id/llboom let him become as famous as Rebecca Black). He just mentioned that there's an easteregg in a vent that's guarded by a turret and I kept looking for it in my second playthrough: Here it is!

They'd experienced a rather unusual suffering. Not a suffering from lasers. Not a suffering from being knocked over, or a suffering from being smashed away with weighted cubes. No, they suffered from something unconventional. They suffered from silence. From days, months, perhaps years of inactivity; water slowly eroding the testing chambers around them; iron rotting away from oxidation; power cells slowly corroding and depleting. There was nothing there to keep them stimulated - nothing to shoot at, nothing to trigger them into activation. And so, with their lights beginning to dim, they cried out. They sang, sang against the heavy quiet, sang out to find fulfillment and purpose and meaning, sang to fill the empty world around them - to keep their very souls alive and from slipping into the silence themselves.
***** WHY THE HELL CAN WE NOT FAVOURITE TH-cam COMMENTS
THIS LITERALLY MADE ME TEAR UP OH MY GOD
+RedSquidz WRITE A BOOK ON THIS! YOU HAVE TO, CALL IT WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT JUST MAKE A BOOK! I WOULD READ THE SHIT OUT OF IT!
+RedSquidz Don't read this or your tears will be shed
So beautiful
Thats just their warm up for the opera at the end
Zenna Franco FORESHADOWING
Yup yupadedo
yea
That meant that the turrets knew that the events following would happen
True
They're so cute that I hate it when I run into an area that I can't get past without killing them. I waste so much time grabbing them and turning them to face the wall, but they're too damn adorable to kill.
SpamWarrior3000 IKR
U have to kill one when doing this Easter egg
It's a 6 year old comment, yes.
In case you're still active - you're not killing them, rather shutting them down. If anyone bothers to reactivate them they'd be fine.
I doubt anyone will though.
@@voxel8960 Excluding aiming a thermal discouragement beam at one
that just fucking the blows the thing up
getting destroyed is probably a better fate than staying in android hell for eternity.
It ain't over till the fat turret sings XD
Thats what they said...
You are from that video and comment too?
i call it mama turret
@@TheRadFungas she be thicc
I like that you can see which one is making which part of the song. That's incredible attention to detail.
My theory: This is them practicing for when Chell is sent to leave the facility by GLaDOS. A reason why this could be potentially reliable is the fact there’s 4 turrets, and when you’re sent up the lift in the ending, there’s 4 turrets that start the song off. And there’s the big turret that directs them.
i think that when u woke up glados again, that was her plan all along, she was just ending your shit so she can finally get u out of there
1 small issue:
The turret opera is a different song than what they;re singing here
@@sir_n0r0nha6 yuh but she does try to yk, kill you, and she does, yk, kill you if you're stupid
during the escape with wheatley she makes you think that you're passing the last test chamber, and when you get fooled and enter it, you get flooded with neurotoxin, so i dont see your thinking holds up yk
2nd small issue, Glad0s wanted to kill your because you killed her. This is before she became a potato and still had full control of the facility.
I think it's meant to be canon.
It's still amazing how well the turrets are animated to the beat of the music
Even more, you can exactly tell who sings what
It's the "Turret Wife Serenade" and yes, it is on the soundtrack.
I found out about this the other day on my own - and OH MY GOD! THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!!!
Jimmy Nahlous I know, I kind of want to hug one. I'm probably going to need a bullet proof vest first though.
Jimmy Nahlous I know it sooo cute!😍😂😶
I know I would like to hug the but then they’d just shoot me
I know everything has been said, but i'd like to insist on how awesome it is to find this into a video game, as additional content / easter egg / whatever you call it.
The level of polishing of Portal 2 is astounding.
How am I the first comment after 11 years.😭 the choir is a very good song btw
"I'm on fire! Ah!"
BOOM!!!!
Lmao! Classic.
You were laughing, they are simulating being burned alive and you were laughing.
As much as I hate them dying, that was hilarious. XD
GUYS I KNOW THE SONG ITS THE FIBONACCI SEQUENCE
There are 4 normal turrets and 1 fat turret, 4-1=3 Half-life 3 confirmed!
Right... There will be a half life 3 but by all means this does not confirm it. Its like saying that if you see 4 tacos and 1 burrito in a game that came out ten years ago confirms it. My point is 4-1=3 doesnt confirm anything except for a basic math problem
Onwardshadowgaming It seems you are uneducated in the field of memes. Half life 3 confirmed is an internet meme based off of people's want/desire for a Half life 3 release or announcement. It's been so long since they released the last game that people make up these ridiculous formulas up to confirm it. i.e.: I just used Half life 3, three times in the previous sentences, HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!!!!
Onwardshadowgaming Your name has 3 words in it. HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED 4 SHOOREEE
You guys compare everything with Half-Life 3, isn`t it?
its a meme
This hits different after finishing Aperture Desk Job
Haha funny singing toilet
No wonder they were able to sing at the end, they're trained singers already!
Demoman: "Bloody brilliant!"
Best moment in gaming history!
Such a cool thing for the developers to add.
This are the 4 turrets at the end it's good to practice before the great event.
I love you fat turret o-o
@TastyMelon she*
I love these old videos. Innocent new findings only a day into the game's release
0:33 - 'I'm on fire! Ahhhh!'. Does it make me a bad person if I laughed at this?
someone make a 25 minute loop of this id watch it
Turret is good singer
Sans the Skeleton, dangit sans! wrong game!
I did this on my first playthough
I knew something special was in that vent
This game has the best Easter eggs ever.
s u s s y b a k a
I literally found about this right now through some Instagram comment. This is insane
Those turrets are cute!
My little brother loves these guys since I showed them to him. He really liked their song. Though the "I'm on fire, aaah!" Got us both XD
Yeah I found this on my first playthrough. I saw the turret in the vent and thought I couldn't kill it. After seeing the fire kill the droids, I killed him and found this. It took me a minute to find where the music was coming from and I was laughing when I saw the turrets (especially the big one) :D
I think they are practicing for their final song at the end..Keep up the good work!
It's really beautiful when chell goes outside and sees the cornfield
Adorable and creepy. So like the turrets. I think I need to play through this again.
This was actually one of the more beautiful and haunting things in this game I think.
OMG. I never knew about this. :D
I never thought to explode that first Turret. I just completely ignored it.
It's pretty cute actually, how they're just practicing down there. XD
Why... why didn't I think of doing that to get past the turret?! Thank you for this!
@V3ryan Without a doubt. First game you walk through areas where he has obviously been fixing things with his wrench and radio scattered around, kicker is at one point there is a makeshift turret workshop with parts laid out and a "defective" turret that doesn't shoot you yeah he made it non-hostile. Clue enough he programmed the entire turret opera and look at the translated Cara Mia lyrics.. The "hunch" in the Lab Rat comic was not her high percentile tenacity but that Chell is his daughter.
Adorable yet haunting!
This explains a lot. Apparently, turrets are just musical creatures. Murderous, over-reactive musical creatures.
Just came from Aperture desk job!
This is pretty much one of the most precious things ever.
New ringtone.
When i hear this song i imagine things suffering or something and its like more dark than cute
I dont know why but its just satisfying
I found this in a recent playtrough without knowing about it, first time I ever find an easter egg like this. Pretty cool :D
that little tune the turrets play has been STUCK IN MY HEAD!
the song is called Turret Wife Serenade According to the Portal 2:Songs to Test By Volume 1 OST
amazing find, i totally missed this
Enough reason for loving this game
Sweet! I never would have noticed that!
@Digitalsp33r
More melancholy than out and out "sad". They're just passing the time listening to the ghosts in the machine.
Wow! Ratman's dens are very well hidden this time! I didn't know this one was there! I hope he got to enjoy the choir.
The song is called Turret Wife Serenade, it's on the OST
@SplitterEdin on the soundtrack it's called "turret wife serenade"
the music sends me chills down my spine
This was beautiful.
They were practicing for the ending :D
That was so freaking cute.
Aw, don`t feel sad. Just be Glados you found such a cool easter egg
the song sounds like absolute madness
LET ME PLAY YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE
Okay, please tell me SOMEONE applauded at the end other than me.
@unit3727 They actually tell you to crouch when you use the Repel Gel. You crouch in order to stop bouncing. Just to let you know.
this is one of 3 times you can see the sprano turret (Fat turret) one of them is in an elevator in chamber 16 (i think), here and at the end credits
SO WONDERFUL!
That’s when I vowed to never kill another turret again
I also like to think that the turret on the far right know that you are there.
@Snowhunter21 wow, I feel dumb now. I haven't played hl2 in so long I actually completely forgot that it had turrets that used the same pick-up and carry physics as these. In fact, even after reading your message it took me almost a full minute of comprehension to remember what the Combine turrets looked like.
Ratman lives, and he's made some friends.
@Gubru Lol he's conducting the turret orchestra in the end cutscene with the King Turret too!
@SparrowHeart1 ... This made me laugh harder than I should have laughed.
@dedpink those "table turrets" aswell, You can grab one at chapter 9 when he tries to kill you with defective turrets.
@MrMullig1 ey but they were practicing for the endXD if you pay attention to when GLaDOS says that she has a "present"i think she means the end of portal anyway because in that chapter (ifyou pay attention to the elevators) youll see turrets being shipped/transported by elevators:P
@plainlake It's making mechanical noises, like combine sentry alarm, noises while moving guns, something like, beat.
sick man! nice find
2 People were inhumainly slaughtered by the turret guarding the mesh.
@thestarz2nite Usually, anything unnecessarily cutesy annoys me as well. However, I think Valve is completely brilliant for reusing a concept from another game (TF2's Sentry Gun), and then making something completely different out of it that fits with its environment perfectly.
Besides, the player is meant to believe that Aperture is run completely by sentient robots that can think for themselves.
They are getting ready for the show.
MAN! The Aperture Science Enrichment Center is like some kind of scientific haunted house!
They're rehearsing for the big show at the end of the game!
Turrets are too cute to kill. Just pick them up and face them against the wall where possible like paralised penguins.
Haha This is actually pretty cool! :) I wish I had a Aperture Sentry Turret.
@defcon1120 yea there is a bigger one its called the animal king its in the turret opera! (backround u cant miss it!)
@imnotstpid Nope the cello or double bass one is the massive lepard turret king in the background, the fat one sings in Ellen McLain's opera voice.
The game isn't over 'til the fat turret sings.
I found this music good yet creepy at the same time
I feel so smart. I found this easter egg before I even knew of it.
HOW DID I MISS THIS WHILE PLAYING? !!!!!!
End of game translation: Dear beautiful, my beautiful darling!
My baby, oh heaven!
Que lastima ...
Que lastima.
O my dear, farewell!
My dear girl,
why not walk away?
Yes, away from science,
My dear, my dear child?
Ah, my pretty!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my child!
O dear, my dear ...
Moved me to tears, they did.
the turrets are singing to their queen. You see her again when you are going up the elevaor at the end of the game.
Turret 1: ok, we have some time to rehearse until the ending of the game, from the top
*turrets play song*
Turret 2: I think theres someone watching us...
Turret 1: OH CRAP! CEASE PLAYING
Wow, I can't belive how much beans Lab Rat ate! After the cryostatic freezing he must have poisoned himself... " It's your old friend- the deadly neurotoxyn"!
@AloneInTheDark525 Actually, he released this video on the same day Portal 2 was released, so he was one of the first people to find it :3
they need to make these as house alarms. just have one sitting in the corner with a laser beam and when something crosses it it activates and says all of the things the turrets in game do
@piepie134 the ending song of GLAdOS is emotional the first time you hear it nearly made me cry and now its just about my favorite song
“IM ON FIRE AAA-“
Stumbled on this by accident today (i had a score to settle with the turret behind the grate) and I realized, I've played this game several times, but I've never played it RIGHT.
@LipbalmO If you listen to the Want You Gone lyrics, apparently it makes references to the fact that GLaDoS didn't actually delete Carolyn.
Did anyone notice the can of beans next to the vent? Doug Rattmann is the singing turrets' biggest fan.
@Komoso The Animal King that rules the world, of course.
Oh nice ! Another sweet model for when this will be gmod mountable ;)
I started to make this model in 3ds Max but since it 's avaible here :)
The game aint over till the fat turret sings, and it did!
