    I made this last night and to be frank, I wasnt head over heals about it; BUT today. holy cow!!! I didnt realize how long ittakes for the raw herbs to really add to the overall dressing. My aapologies for doubting you. Excellent and by far and a way has added salads back into my life.

    My vegan ranch dressing my friend gave me.
    1/2 cup hemp hearts hulled no need to soak,1/3 cup water( more if needed), juice of 1 medium lemon, 1/4 tsp garlic powder n onion powder n mineral salt, few strands of chives broken up, few sprigs fresh dill, few sprig tops of cilantro n or parsley.. in blender (double if using regular blender, combine everything blend until smooth, add more hemp if too thin, if too thick add more water n boom vegan ranch dressing. Delicious🍒

    WOW - a year?? That means a whole lot of taste testing went on during this process. Thank you so much. I've tried a few vegan Ranch dressings and they are okay, but I always felt like something was missing. I made some Zucchini Fritters from another channel and served with 3 different options: ranch, tzatziki and ketchup. We ended up going for the tzatziki because it was the most flavorful. But I really wanted the ranch to be the star. I can't wait to try this recipe. Again, thank you.

I didn't have Oat Milk, and thought I could substitute Almond Milk instead. But I was wrong on that. The Almond taste was overpowering, even with all the spices and herbs. Knowing I wasn't crazy with the nutritional yeast flavor. I think I'll leave it out next time. Also, next time, I will definitely make it with Oat Milk.However, It was very creamy and smooth, and not unpleasant. But like I said, the Almond flavor was just too strong.

      Can you get nuts of any kind? If you can get cashews or almonds you can make your own plant milk or make rice milk or oat milk. you can find recipes or instructions on line. Use raw cashews or almonds with no skins in place of tofu in this recipe. You might do an internet search for vegan ranch dressing and find some recipes using ingredients that are available where you live. Hope this helps.

    Gosh, soy as tofu actually does raise my estrogen levels . It maybe bc I’ve eaten raw, no processed, for 16 years . But 2 years ago I added tofu in for salad dressing base and first time since being vegan, over 30 years vegan, I got pms symptoms . I heard of another one that uses aquafaba in place of eggs yet it called for oil and vegan yogurt. But I do like this one.

    I tried the recipe using extra firm tofu and no salt. It came out really smooth but I think a salt free substitute would have made a difference in the taste. It was bland and a bit on the slightly sweet side. I couldn't even taste the vinegar.

      That is so variable depending on your fridge and so many other factors. It is good for about 5 days if kept in the coldest part of our fridge.

    🤔 If I can’t find white chia seeds (I’ve never seen them in the stores I go to), would hemp seeds be a good replacement without ruining the flavor profile?

    Wouldn't the powerful Vitamix significantly blend the dill stems enough to be able to use those stems?

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would if that’s what you want to do but then the dressing will turn green. I just pulse the herbs a little because I want the dressing to be white with green specks of fresh herbs. If you don’t mind it being a green color that’s great! 🌱

    Definetly I will give it a try… quick question, how do you keep so clean your blender? Mine, even if I wash it right away, it is still “cloudy”

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems like certain foods can cause it to be cloudy. I think If you blend a lot of hard items like nuts or grains that can cause it to turn cloudy. I wash mine with hot water and dish soap - that’s it.

    This looks wonderful! Thank you. I'm wondering if we can just put oats instead of the powder, as the vitamix will pulverize it. Also, do you think it might work to use lemon instead of the ACV? Thank you again!

    • @NutmegNotebook

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is much better after sitting in the fridge over night. That allows the fresh herbs time to infuse their flavor through out the dressing. I like it as is - you will need to make adjustments that suit your taste buds - we all have different taste preferences and I don't know what you are missing from it. Is it sodium, garlic, dill , vinegar? Think about which flavor you would like to have be stronger and go from there.

    I couldn’t find 12oz tofu. Can I use 16oz? And would I need more plant milk?

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The silken tofu comes in 12 ounce containers and it’s very soft making it perfect for dressings. If you found a 16 ounce container recipe of soft silken tofu just use 12 ounces otherwise all of the portions of the other ingredients will be off and you won’t have the right balance of flavors. It won’t be as flavorful.
