- Dennis Elsas: Without question my most memorable interview and on-air experience to date was on September 28, 1974, a Saturday afternoon I spent with John Lennon.
I had met him just a few weeks before at the Record Plant recording studio and casually asked him if he’d like to come up to the station to talk about his forthcoming album Walls and Bridges. I doubted anything would come of it, since none of the Beatles had ever visited our station before. When he showed up eager to talk, bringing with him some obscure 45’s he wanted to share with the audience, I didn’t know what to expect.
What began as an opportunity to promote the new album, turned into two hours of rare Beatle stories, insights into his immigration struggles, and John as the DJ, introducing and commenting on all the music, commercials and weather.
The complete show is part of the permanent collection of the Paley Center For Media (formerly the Museum of Television and Radio).

It's really difficult to put into words how much we've all missed out on and lost during the past forty-one years. John was a complete one-off, witty, brave, creative, contentious and an absolute godsend. It was so much fun when he was around, causing his special brand of mischief, and I miss him every day - time doesn't heal the wound, it makes it more acute. Glad you came along John. RIP.

John Lennon forever!
The nice thing about this conversation between Dennis Elsas and John Lennon is the fact that John was so open as were the other Beatles to a reunion as far back as 1974, but as Lennon stated. It would've happened in 1976 when the contracts were up. Alan Kline had the Beatles all stitched up until then. It almost happened folks!

John Lennon doing a White Castle commercial - brilliant. He really did love NYC. I remember being a freshman in HS seeing the Cars at MSG on 12/4/80 having my friends cousin drive us home and him pointing at the Dakota building saying ‘Lennon lives there’ and 4 days later, he was gone
