Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vacuum

  • Here I'm showing is my Aunt's Dirt Devil she's had since the late 90's. My Aunt bought this brand new and she couldn't remember exactly where and when she bought this at. Anyway she had a Dirt Devil 120 Hand Vac before but something happened to it one time and she couldn't figure out how to get it working again so she replaced it with this and overall she didn't really like it. So it got used a few times at her old house until she moved here in 2000 and now she uses a different vacuum so she doesn't use this vacuum anymore. I've only used this a few times but not as much as I would've wanted to because this is overall the WORST Hand Vac I have ever used. It's VERY LOUD, it's does a horrible job using the hose on this because it has very weak suction and airflow on this so that's why I didn't demonstrate using the hose on this (It's the worst I have ever used on a vacuum cleaner). I hear this was rated as the best for removing pet hair but this thing chokes on picking up cat hair (Even with a brand new belt on it) and this DOES NOT have good agitation on the brushroll. It definitely spits some dust and cat hair out from where the motor exhaust is at instead of going straight into the bag like it's supposed to. It definitely is difficult to replace belts on this than most Hand Vacs I have replaced belts on before. And the last thing is that this does have a overheating problem where it heats up very fast when I use this. I can't believe Dirt Devil is still making these horrible Hand Vacs today and people say that these are great machines but I don't think so. The Ultras when they first came out in like the late 90's, it was the start of Dirt Devil that went downhill with quality and performance on their machines. But other than that I still overall like the looks on these, I wouldn't mind having one of these in my collection but I wouldn't ever use them. The information sticker on this came off a while ago but anyway this runs on 120 volts and it is made in North America which that's the only thing I like better than the newer Ultras because they are now made in China. But overall I HIGHLY would NEVER recommend these to anybody. I will guarantee you that the older discontinued 103 or 120 models will OUT CLEAN these Ultras.
    Hope you enjoyed!
    UPDATE 12/20/21: My aunt has since sold the machine when she moved.

    I got one a long time ago from goodwill for $2 I think, it was trash, i brought it home, turned it on, realized how loud it was and threw it in the dumpster the same day I got it.

    A Dirt Devil Power Stick is a lot louder.I tried out two of them at my Goodwill and they were extremely loud,louder than this hand vac.

    I used to have this handheld back in 2016 as a birthday present, but I didn't like it so much because of its terrible performance, mine's made in China (manufactured in 2015), and it's just a piece of trash. Thankfully, I got rid of it and will never likely to get one of these machines again or be able to let this vac touch my future vacuum collection when I start collecting vacuums.

    That's too bad that these newer ones are bad, I like the look and hose function. I just bought an Ultra at Goodwill and turned it on at home only to realize they are loud. I have a 8100 that was made in the 90's and it isn't this loud. I guess I will clean the new one up and keep it for looks in my collection and just use the older one when needed.

    How do I use the hose on this little electric devil vacuum? Can’t figure out how to rotate the nozzle to go over brush roll

    • @panasonicvac4036
      @panasonicvac4036  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The nozzle moves forward, do you not have an instruction manual for it? There are pictures showing using a hand to move it.

    • @bevlovecchio1452
      @bevlovecchio1452 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I no longer have the instruction manual, I don’t want to force it for fear of breaking it. I received a handheld portable vacuum with a charger so this one went in a closet. I didn’t want to purchase a new one & remembered I had it. Since my hands no longer work correctly how do I move it. Can I get the part of the manual that shows how to move it. Thx Bev.
