I had to Google it 😅 "Pearly gates is an informal name for the gateway to Heaven according to some Christian denominations. The image of the gates in popular culture is a set of large gold, white, or wrought-iron gates in the clouds, guarded by Saint Peter (the keeper of the "keys to the kingdom"). The black pool is a tar pit. Those actually exist in California.
This particular song is basically from the angels perspective with global warming themes. Peter is said to man the gates of heaven. ❤
