@@Vortex1988 It was bought by Sazerac, not Buffalo Trace. Sazerac owns BT, but they also own Barton Distilleries (Very Old Barton and 1792) which I'm speculating will be the distillery producing Early Times going forward.

I just bought and poured my first bottle of Early Times today. Great bottle for the price and I feel it should be mentioned it’s 100 proof as well.

Surprised you guys didn’t mention the recent sale of this brand and the remaining stock to Sazerac. Hoping it remains a readily available budget offering. One of the best values around. Praying it doesn’t go the way of Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond etc.

HH BIB used to be my favorite faithful bottle and mow it is more of a white buffalo
And of course Sazerac starts selling their trade mark commodity, which is actually scarcity and not Whiskey as some believe.
Bourbon Junkies did a blind tasting and the Sazerac branded one wasn't as good to them. Probably still a great deal for the price, but it used to be a gem.

Finally! I feel like this one was long overdue.
They had to get through all the 14 month old whiskeys from Idaho finished in piss barrels

The regular Early Times isn't a blend of bourbon and light whiskey. It's just used barrel bourbon aged for 3 years. They fill up their used bourbon barrels with bourbon and age it as a bottom shelf option. Early Times bourbon is just the same distillate aged in new oak. What's unique about ET is the used of a heat cycled warehouse. That's why the whiskey is fairly dark and complex for the age.
Is that a Brown Foreman thing? 1920 also has amazing flavors and is NAS like Early Times BiB.

Upvote for the fact that it’s a 1L bottle for $20! It easily outpunches others in the $40-$50 category.
I tried Early Times about 6 months ago. I like it. It's very cheap under $23.00 in Oregon. Thanks for sharing.

And y’all should’ve noted that The Bottled in Bond is also 1 liter for $20 not just a fifth so it’s really on par with Evan Williams bottled in bond that runs $15 per 750ml.
Been with you guys from the beginning. I am shocked you didn’t know about this gem. I am more surprised how your interest increased after you heard the price. I would recommend doing a blind tasting of this bourbon to your favorites regardless of the price and see how it holds up. I would bet it would be high on the list regardless of price. Also at the time of this review I believe Sazerac bought the line which makes me wonder if BF is releasing the best juice now. Just a thought but I look forward to your response if you actually read the comments
It seems to me at this stage of the channel, a bottom shelf bourbon is not very exciting/interesting for a mootch and scotch guy.

@@AlphaOneActual This is true, but I can still find ET BiB on the shelf frequently.. Unlike Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, and the Weller line that I used to see everywhere 2 years ago. lol
@@heavylift47 Trace is in Walmarts in my area (AZ) its very common, but Eagle Rare is hard to find and Well straight up doesn't exist.
@@heavylift47 it’s funny how different parts of the country have shortages of the same bourbons that are easily found in other areas. I never see Early Times bib and very rarely see Weller products here in southern CA, yet there’s stacks of Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare everywhere.

Some magnificent bastard must have hidden it behind the old crow.... but I, as a mootch in training, discovered it and ran gleefully to the counter. $26 in west GA currently!! Gonna put the kids to bed, fire up some Vikings on the history channel and have a glass. Skol!!!
Still $22 for the liter here in Texas. I don’t think I’ve had anything that beats it at that price.

Started my Bourbon journey with Knob Creek store select but stepped back to Early Times Bottled in Bond for my daily driver. I’m a old fashioned guy, so there is no need to put a $50 750ML in a mixed drink
True. Try it on ice, then with a few drops of water, then neat, and never look back. You’ll taste all the flavors. With that said, however you like it is how you should drink it my friend.

It is a good deal for a $20 bottle. But the fact that you get an extra 250 ML makes a big difference. An extra 1/3 of a bottle!

great review! SP means Store Pick btw lol. I know this is an older video though, but I picked up to Early times BIB bottles for the first time and was curious to see what others thought.
The Brown Foreman juice tasted very much like Col EH Taylor Small Batch BiB for half the price. A definite win.😊
You'll probably need to re-review this one after they start bottling different juice, since the Early Times brand has been sold to Sazerac (Buffalo Trace and Barton Distillery).

I picked up a bottle the other day, and I quite like it! however they seemed to have cheaped out on the cap since your video. now its an all foil cap that deforms in trying to unseal it, and doesn't stay on, so use a stopper. honestly, for the quality it deserves a cork.
The tribe had the Brown Foreman version, Early times was recently acquired by Sazerac and changed the bottle to a metal cap. I've heard after the sale to Sazerac it's not as good.
@@bryansorbo7622from my experience with it its pretty good for the price. Although I did eventually butter-wash the contents just so I could have some butter bourbon on hand to add to my infinity bottle as needed. It really sets off the blend, and you can use the resulting bourbon butter to make cookies with.
I agree I always throw the cap out and stick the cork I used from the last bottle in it. I did notice aa difference in mouth sizes on some of the bottles. I just poured the E.T. from the new bottle into the one I have a cork to fit to fix that.
You should do the Bim Jeam and source it from the same warehouse Jim Beam is kept in. As a sort of a limited run collaboration.

You'll know for certain if it has that "garden asparagus note" as soon as you take a whiz.
Do you ever get different notes, when nosing a whiskey, depending on which nostril the glass it's under? I have found that one side is more of the softer smells predominately like vanilla and brown sugar and the other side is sharper notes like wood and citrus. I still get all the smells on both sides, just a little different depending on where the glass is positioned.

I don't get the screw top botles.. Either the whisky is ment to be transfered to a decanter or the cork is really expensive ( is it? ) or the whisky is ment to be consumed in 2-3 weeks tops because oxidazation is really fast on it with screw tops..
I don’t think that is the same juice but possibly similar juice that goes into the low budget early times only because of the strict rules in the production of the bottled in bond process.
Thi is my all time favorite right next to Buffalo Trace.
I'd love to see a review on 'early times old reserve'. I've just found it in a store I work in. its a hidden gem in my eyes especially for the price! I picked up 3 bottles for £15 each where I am!!

Nothing special aside from the fact it’s 19$ for a liter here in Oregon which has higher than average price for booze but it’s definitely better than Henry McKenna 😹😹😹definitely a great intro to bib I’d take this over white label as well
You guys should review Truffalo Base. I heard it's almost as good as Bim Jeam.
Regular "Early Times" is NOT a blend of light whisky, or else it would have to be labeled "light whisky" or "blended light whisky". It is simply "whisky", meaning distilled from bourbon mash and aged in used cooperage (as stated in small print on the label). It's a good idea, too, I would love to see an older version of that, at appropriate (high) proof and unfiltered. This neglected category could be interesting. It's basically "scotch treatment" of bourbon-mash spirit. But then it's probably more profitable to sell the barrels to Scotland :)
