I've been watching the S&T videos via Tom Saguto Golf for about 3 weeks. I played two rounds so far, and I'm completely satisfied. My first time out using the system, I shot an 82 from the back tees. My second outing i shot an 78. I believe I can go much lower, but I need to really work on my putting.
Brilliant tip around 10:40. Discovered you last evening. I'm on the S&T journey also. Your tip in the S&T review vid about the lead knee during takeaway is money! Tom Saguto's method of just rotating one's shoulders doesn't work for me, thought I'd found the answer when I saw that, how naive can you be at 71! 😂 Thanks very much for your insights, extremely refreshing, love the accent here in the U.K.

Very impressive! I’ve just changed to stack and tilt about two months ago ! LOL! This after struggling just to make solid contact consistently over the last year and a half. I can’t believe how much my ball striking has improved. In addition,I a lot more consistent off the tee driving the ball about 220 to 225 right down the middle most of the time ! LOL! And yeah…. Club face control has been a work in progress! LOL! But, I’ve had success per setting my club face at set-up. Thanks 4 your video. I enjoyed it !
Hey Chad, To your suggestion, I utilize my version of Stack & Tilt. It has been working out very well. In search of "unrealistic distance" I recently tried to implement a "faster hip turn" and "greater weight shift" that destroyed my consistency and accuracy. After going back to the simple principles of S&T, my game improved. It has been a long, long time since I've broken 80. I've accomplished that, 3 out of my last 5 rounds. If I would have putted better it would have been 5 of 5. Yet, that is golf! My 2 cents is to just "Keep It Simple" and value accuracy over chancing unrealistic distances. Good Luck out there! :)
stack and tilt took me from the mid 50's to the low 40's at 60 plus years old golfer. if you have good knee's it is the best to get consistent. great golf concept couldn't hit my driver this way but younger folks can figure it out. thank you stack and tilt
I couldn’t hit my driver for two years using it. Now I can’t miss a Fairway You really just gotta make sure your head stays back and your weights forward with your lower body not your upper Once you figure out a driver seems so simple and powerful
Happy Father's Day Chad. Great tempo and most of your shots. That's why you played well. I sigbed up for Tom's online school. My game is definitely improving. If I do like you say and jut eep a nice, unforced swing, I'll strike well 90% of the time. I played well yesterday. Had a scrappy start but found my tempo and played well all the way to the 19th hole where I enjoyed a couple of ice cold adult beverages, lol. Thanks for sharing your journey.
good video, like I have mentioned befor I think this is a good system ,works for me and I also use half backswing thought, also someone who doesn't get to play on regular basis, its base fundamentals I can get back on track fairly quickly
Nice playing!! I believe you found what works for you. And I like what you said about how to make your own swing through the SnT program. Trying not to be so robotic and not having to swing the absolute perfect way as they say is key. Everyone has a different swing no doubt and just adding some elements of SnT will help build a consistent swing! Just need to practice before real play. Thanks for the video. It was a good one!
Not too bad for the first on-course effort! Look up Rob Cheney’s video on the “holy grail” hips move. Absolute downswing game changer. Keep up the the good work and happy Father’s Day (if you are one)!
The drives you hit well you resorted to a regular type swing. Many end up doing that not realizing if you just focus on playing you end up striking it well enough to get around .
I try not to examine things under a microscope as much as I used to, but I dont disagree with you. That's why near the end I made a point to say "avoid being robotic" Just make it work for you, you know?
One thing I notice, which I am sure you have to while editing, your club at the top of the backswing while doing practice swings look great-- very S&T and what Saguto teaches-- doesnt get above tbe shoulder line. but when you actually swing to hit the ball, your club head gets really high at the top of the backswing and appears to come across the line.
You are so relatable. Nice video. From the admission of no time, not warming up, missed shot recordings, Marshall interaction, and off the cuff comments. Loved it. And….your swing is looking good.
I had a channel last year based on 1 swing at a time, total feel shots. No warm-up, no video edits and working on course at the Sametime. Some real good swings in there. SnT offers some great concepts. The beauty of it is you can uses pieces of it. Blend it with your own swing. They even say that in the intro of the original book. I think weight slightly (52-55%) favoring lead foot at address and hands in clubhead out are universal no matter what swing you use. Good point by you ... make it your own.
Speaking from my own experience in trying to incorporate the stack and tilt method in my swing over the past 6 months or so, I realized one of my faults was to push my upper body towards the target and not staying centered. I think, subconsciously since I've battled fat shots, my brain was thinking I needed my entire body in front of the ball to NOT hit fat. It took me a while to get past that. I assume more golfers are going through the same issues and probably don't realize it.
I've been meaning to make a trip out there at some point, but it's never a good time. I've played Tallamore(sp.) and one other course there, but I can't remember the name. It's been years now.
Haha ... songs in my head ... there are often to many ... just as to many swing thoughts. 🤣😂 Currently I have a female fronted metal band with their song Face Yourself- Death Reflection (FT: Isaac Bilbrey) on repeat. Consider it a dare.🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
S&T wouldn’t fully work for me. It had me going way too shallow . Hit consistent shots mostly but zero compression. I had to adapt a single plane swing with a bit to less weight forward and not forcing my hands to go “behind my back”. If I can see my hands out of my peripheral vision at the top of my back swing then I know I’m 1) on plane and 2) not over swinging.
Happy Father's Day. Real only on 2nd hole part of your video. Chip off Green? Wrong club choice, use same technique and stronger lofted club. Let it roll with that technique and distance. Good stuff. I know playing and finding time.
@@GolfTestDummy Yes Sir, you did. It's not bump and run I'm referring with your club selection. Same swing, lower loft allows ball to have that roll into to the hole. I chipped/flopped or otherwise looked at hole for finish line for years, it's 18" past the hole for target. 2Ft was nice , do same shot 10 times with same club and try 2 clubs with less loft same swing, of course with ball placement being varied by slope. The ones that go past the hole always have a chance of going in. By extending your target distance with trusted loft works too. 18" Optimal via Gary Player. Just a thought.
On what I see you have used S&T and given yourself a tempo that gives results. It is not the crunchy thumping KFC that TS produces. But it works. Playing off better lies on a few holes and you might have got closer to the pins and even scored less. Did anyone else see the squirrel ?
On both the hybrid and iron shot on the 2nd hole you kept your hip depth about as well as I've ever seen you and the downswing plane was quite a bit flatter then before so a noticeable impressive amount of change. However, you were thin on the iron shot and you asked why and the answer is that looping is always necessary for speed and slotting the club but your clubhead is going back WAY below the plane line and then an exprerienced golfer and/or natural athlete is always going to try and loop the club under the backswing plane to get some speed and be able to square the clubface, so looping under an already low plane (especially for a shortish iron) is going to give you a very (too) shallow inside plane and a thin shot. The hybrid being a bit longer and tolerating a flatter plane was able to tolerate the excessively flat loop and still be reasonable well struck. As I've said to you, you need to get the clubhead looping more over your hand plane (and ideally even the shaft plane itself) on the backswing (like Saguto for example) so that you can drop it under and gett some room to slot it and square it with speed on a good downswing plane. If you can swing with the abbreviated motion that you're using and do what I'm saying, you should be able to get some pretty good strikes. A bit later on the split "fairway" hole, you started swing a bit longer a get the clubhead higher with just a little bit of overswing (more like your previoius swing) and then more spine angle loss coming down but that type of motion is actually helping you loop the clubhead on a bit of a steeper plane which is why it helps you in many cases. Your demonstration swing at 10:07 was actually pretty good, more on plane and no overswing and more what you should be doing and I completely agree with your explanation and illustration of hip action and leg action in S&T. The caveat is though, that if you haven't looped the club appropriately and kept your hip depth, you will not be able to have such a lower body motion and strike the ball well so "physician heal thyself", I guess. You also kept your lead arm a little more freed from upper chest on that demonstration backswing (could do with even a bit more) which is a BIG DEAL in creating the room to swing down on a good plane with appropriate looping and without having to resort to overswinging and getting an overly steep hand path coming down. So in short, swinging like the swings on the 2nd ( backswing short and flat ) but with the lead arm a little more freed from the chest in the early backswing and the clubhead moving higher faster during that same portion of the swing and you should be in get shape to deliver the clubhead well if you keep that concise backswing motion. The lack of room, relative to your chest, of the horizontal arc of the lead arm is really affecting your driver and forcing you to revert back to overswinging in order to get some room to swing albeit more off plane. It's working but you are giving up a LOT of power by doing so. Where you take the club back to would not be an overswing if you were giving yourself more room in front so that you would have some space at the top of the swing to reroute the club on plane (flattening) without changing planes. The longer shaft and flatter plane causes even more problem with the driver in this regard. Study Saguto''s lead arm to chest motion in the backswing in this video: "Go From Hitting 220 Drives to 300 Drives INSTANTLY" at 1:42 and compare it to yours. The club moving wider in front (due to lead arm arc) and higher but there is no overswing here at all. In fact, I would say that the swing is making is just about the perfect length for a driver and he is pounding the ball. I don't see any reason that you can't make a swing just like that, but you need to break into that very ingrained habiit of bringing the clubhead back low and and curtailing the horizontal arc of your lead arm. You will have to learn to keep you chest pointing forward longer in the backswing and freeing up the swing of the upper lead arm. This is really the key to accurate power in golf. Nice scoring job and the consistency was pretty good overall so I agree that the system served you pretty well to the degree that you held to its tenets but I still think that you can do a lot better ball-striking wise. Overall though, pretty good result. Cheers.
Baby steps and time. I can't fix it all at once, but I can get there over time, a piece at a time. I'll keep working, but for now, I'm happy with what I've got to this point. I'll take the victory.
Chad, excellent as always,,,,,, what do you see as positives from SNT over JVA ? L must say after 2 months with the JVA swing and your vids I have NEVER had such consistant contact/swigs.....THANKS
Much appreciated, Ron! The positives can only be stated from my personal perspective. I think I have a need for some motion and movement, and trying to do the opposite is difficult for me.
@@GolfTestDummy I signed up for JVA a couple years a go and struugled with the roboticness (not a real word, lol) of it as well. I always had the urge to smash. SnT has removed most of that. I like the idea of the half swing... Tom teaches that in several videos.
“Gonna go right up the guts here with a three hybrid… Just like that. Good high flight right down the pooper.” 🤣🤣 Broadcast worthy commentary right there 🤣🤣
“Swing with less murderous intent.“ We share the same mantra. All of the mechanics in the world won’t do you any good if you’re trying to flatten out the dimples on the ball when you swing. I found that when I play loose, with NO swing thought, and barely a little more than a half swing, I can generally get the yardages from my irons that I want, and the ball goes to the spot where I want it 80 to 85% of the time. But when I’m trying to step on it in a feeble “attempt” to get more yardage, I basically cap out my carry at 150 yards. And it doesn’t matter the club, be it 6i or a hybrid - 150 max. And the ball flight is often horrendous. when I’m actually not trying to score is when I have my better rounds.
I only reference my video content, because it falls in line with your search. Sometimes, when you only play once in a while, finding a technique is troublesome. Play your tendency and maximizing results is always feel related.
I've found that when I don't play often, the first feel and touch that struggles a bit is the putting and short game. But typically, I find my touch in a couple of holes.
@@GolfTestDummy Another example of various traits that make us chase the "A" game of golf. Realistically few ever play "A" golf on a consistent level. More often even scratch golfers fall in between "B"&"C" quality and it's management of avoiding "D"&"F" mistakes. I've played "A ish" golf in spurts and that level is almost all mental, unless you're SUPER SOUND fundamentally. That's were "Life", flexibility or lack there of and infrequent playing almost always keep "US" humble or searching! Keep up the good work
My search is more for flexibility, given the arthritis,. That being said, short game is always available as a weapon, putting is of course "Feel" for me and green speed/pin placement are always that challenge of unknown. If I play same track regularly, just like anyone the putting nuance is marginalized and becomes my strength..
Thanks, Chad.

@@GolfTestDummy always,,,,different strokes for different folks....hard to get away from that....whatever works,,,,all help greatly appreciated
@@barryread3672 how you feel is how you feel......we can only do what we can do
“Gonna go right up the guts here with a three hybrid… Just like that. Good high flight right down the pooper.” 🤣🤣 Broadcast worthy commentary right there 🤣🤣
Finally! Haha, I'm not exactly Don Rickles, but I was waiting on some comments that somebody heard me. Thank Brian!
Happy father's day
Many thanks!
Sooooo true. 85 percent of the attempts, 75 percent power, works 100 percent of the time.....
Not that it matters, but I never put additional pressure on myself for any shot. I’m not playing for a paycheck and it is, after all, a game.
Happy Father’s Day Chad, for your lack of course time that’s impressive
Happy Father's Day, Jim! Thanks.
On the song thing - To the tune of "Feeling Groovy" Slow down you swing to fast got to make the feeling last feeling groovy . lol
Haha, that's a pretty fitting song.
you could have gone down the grip 2 or 3 inches for that shot with hybrid....
What golf course is this?
Cardinal CC
Nice looking course. Where is that?
It's in Selma, NC. It's improved quite a bit over the last few years, but the greens have been the biggest improvement
The stack and tilt is a stinger shot for Rory, so it’s just a shot to have in the bag , not sure it should be your stock swing
It’s so much easier I hit high lofted irons all the time using it. So much less Complicated makes it so easy
Thanks again man
Thank YOU for the support.
Impetus, ahh RIP Brian Sparks, Easiest Swing!
Absolutely.
Love your videos. But just noticed in this video you may need to smoke a bowl or have a Bloody Mary. Breathe and relax. It’s supposed to be fun
Where’s everyone? Empty course?
That's not a golf course. That's a cow pasture Chad. Right elbow at the top you will struggle.
You didn't think my swing looked better? Man, tough crowd, Mike. And yeah, the course ain't Pebble Beach for sure, lol.
