In last question, we are taking 2 base figure which has 4X4 squares, After that we taking the remaining squares. Individual 2x2 squares here fitted within that 4x4 square that's why we are not taking it as 5 separately . Hope I understood your questions correctly!! Tell me if you understood!!

Dont get confused bavan. First we are taking base 4x4 square (black colored) After that 4x4 violet colored square (in that centre square what you are telling will get covered know ? ) Then we are calculating extra squares that we left out After that we counting the squares formed by base and extra squares , when they are put together.
