Quel do acuto.... Fantastico!!!!!!!! ❤
I think that Giuseppe Sabbatini has a so underrated voice by the media, but so beautifully phrased, technically impeccable and so clean, that he deserves to be acknowledged forever. A real Italian voice.
GS is VERY underrated and always has been unfortunately. he is one of the most amazing tenors out there, and far superior to most of them today. his technique is amazing and he is rock solid in every way. honestly he is better than many great tenors of the past all around. this is a clinic on pure vocalism.
This is a very high class tenor, highly talented, with a very well elaborated technique. Bravo Maestro, we need singers like you to keep opera and it’s future alive!!
I’ve had the good fortune to hear Sabbatini live on two occasions. The first time was at Avery Fisher Hall, where he sang in the Verdi Requiem with Muti conducting La Scala Orchestra and Chorus. Barbara Frittoli (in her prime) was the soprano, Violeta Urmana was the mezzo (she was spectacular back then), and Sam Ramey was the bass. It was a sensational performance. The second time I heard Sabbatini was in Manon at the Met. He was outstanding. Unfortunately, like so many other wonderful singers, he suddenly disappeared from the Met roster. I haven’t heard tenor singing on this level at the Met in many years.
Could you describe his voice as large enough in capacity for the big stages? I mean… compared to Pav. (I don’t know if you had the chance to see him live) could you say that Sabbatini was in the same league about?
Mamma mia! It doesn't get any better than this. Just unbelievable, but hearing is believing! And for what my 2 cents are worth, there was not a "drop" of falsetto in the High C. There was however a perfect dimenuendo from full voice to "un fil di voce". Perfetto, Sublime!
Maravilloso!!!!!!!
The ability to sing a high C in full voice and then diminuendo to piano while transitioning from full to head tone to falsetto is sublime and downright difficult to do. The command this tenor has over his voice is admirable. Bravo for sharing this with the world.
Say what you want people, but this is simply great, I am just learning this aria and it is bloody difficult. He has all, great diction, fantastic musicality and a beautiful timbre as well. I have never heard of this tenor, but this is simply one of the best renditions I have come across. And the High C is nor pushed and never falsetto, it is in perfect shape and control for me. GREAT
Una smorzatura del DO acuto cosî perfetta la abbiamo ascoltata solo da GIUSEPPE DI STEFANO, in una Recita negli USA di oltre 60 Anni or sono !! Great SABATINI 👍 !!!
@@Mariano-ge6deThe diminuendo in this high C was not made by Kraus. Only di Stefano and Sabbatini have made it. The high C of Franco Corelli in this aria is so powerful y very bright (squilllo). He recorded Faust with Joan Sutherland , but he never sang this role at the opera house. Greetings,
Danke!
Una perla!!!!!!!!! La migliore esecuzione mai sentita in assoluto!!!!!!!! Il diminuendo, va oltre il grande Distefano. C'è da inchinarsi dinnanzi a tanta bellezza e perfezione. Incredibile cosa ha fatto, pazzesco🙏👍
Not a single other tenor even comes close to singing "Salut" as well as this! The whole interpretation was a masterclass in perfection, and that high-C - to bring it down from forte to piano without losing any of the quality - that was just amazing! This is the part in the opera just after Faust has sold his soul to the devil... wondering is Sabbatini didn't do the same ;)
Di Stefano, Bjorling,Lemeshev in Russian more than equal this, but Sabbatini is great here, undoubtedly. If you want to listen to a very good performance from a young tenor today on Faust listen to Nutthaporn Thammathi. Not at maestro Sabbatini's level yet, but he is remarkable at 29-30 years old.
this is the first I've heard of Mr Sabbatini. I think this a beautiful recording if not "exciting". I'm content with beautiful. Note says that this was sung in 1991. I follow opera and I'm surprised that his career wasn't more luminescent ie with Pavorotti and Domingo. Perhaps not not the versatility of voice that is Domingo's but clearly more skilled than many who make a nice nice career and name for themselves. I have heard the control "up top" only from Corelli.
Although it is tempting to focus comment on the spectacular high C, the entire aria is sung with wonderful lyricism, fervor, and unusual attention to phrasing. Even the phrase leading to the C is sung in one breath! I was fortunate to hear him live at the Met in Manon in a memorable performance.
Bravo!!!
One of the best renditions of the aria with the vocalism and thoughtfulness it deserves! Almost every great tenor has done it beginning with Bjoerling,DiStefano and Gedda being the gold standards.
This was really beautifully sung with sympathetic interpretation and the high C diminuendo was out of the top drawer, REALLY EXCELLENT! I'm a baritone and so don't know the music and whether it calls for a diminuendo or not, but nonetheless Mr Sabbatini's technical control over that diminuendo was phenomenal! Bravo!
That was the greatest single note I've ever heard, on top of what was already a beautiful performance. I've never heard a decrescendo that beautiful and effortless, jesus christ I can't even begin to describe how awesome that was. Time to dig up more arias from this master!
Sabbatini was first of all a master in the art of singing. Here we can hear an example of sensitive artistic delivery and delicacy. His high C with an incredibly beautiful diminuendo has the mark of a great singer and artist manrico29
This was the best Salute, demeure et chaste et pure, I have heard in a long time. I have heard the Bjorling, at leats two different recordings; my late mom heard Bjorling in this live in the early fifties, and raved. This absolutely on par with Bjorling andl also Kraus. The high C, with diminuendo was ravishingly beautiful. Only the truly great can accomplish that, like Pavarotti in his earlier recording of Celeste Aida when he sings a heartstopping diminuendo at the end . Thanks!
This rendition is wonderful not only because of the high C, but he sang all the time very nice, as it must be (piano, legatto, as a monologue). Bravo Signore Sabattini. The high C is to crown this perfect interpretation!
this is outstanding beautiful singing, though there are many great versions from the greats, I think Mr. Sabbatini cultivated this famous aria uniquely his own style. I also enjoy his arias for Mozart's opera. Wish him a long healthy career, more Met performances!!! Bravo,
@meltzerboy Interesting commentary and remarks from the many viewers... all said and done an impressive performance. Thank you fabiantenor for posting, and thanks to Nate for sharing. Cheers, etc. Doug --

That high C and the entire phrase is done so well it’s almost supernatural!

Jose María Mora I agree 1,000,000% with you!
Flawless!
Gorgeous..... and that Morendo/diminuendo!!!!!!!!! bravo

Whst control this man has over his voice! Stunning!
That was the sickest high C ever, bravo
He just raised the standards, BRAVO

Very, very beautiful singing. What a great interpretation.
An accomplished, effortless performance. A delight to listen to such artistry.
La mejor versión que conozco. Muchas gracias

Great SABATINI 👍 !!!
Fantastic High C! As good as Giuseppe di Stefano!
Kraus

Nadie la ha cantado así.

Kraus en este aria insuperable
So, so beautiful! Slower than what I'm used to but I think it made it better. Thank you for posting.
This is a really good rendition of this aria. Not to talk about this incredible high C sung in a long phrase. Bravo Sabbatini!
Que MAESTRO DE LA VOZ !!!!!!!! Perfecto control, fiato, linea perfecta.

xGyzmOx Amen brother! Salut!
Giuseppe Di Stefano similarly murders this and also did the diminuendo on the high C but decades before this. Worth checking out.

Hum... Kraus? 😕
Bravo, bravo Sabbatini, one of the best. We love him very much. Thank you Sabbatini!!!

Beautiful and virile
Fantastic voice, beautiful musician. The high C is perfect.
Excellent diminuendo on the high C!
IMPECCABLE!!!!!!
Excelente tenor!
I'm a tenor and I sure as hell am envious of his C... maybe in ten years I'll be able to do that... that C was unbelievable! Practically wet myself!!
oh wow, just wow... I maybe I could be a singer in my next life.. this is just simply beyond amazing... BRAVO !!

Great just great!!!! I love this Performance.
His version of _A te o cara_ is perfect ! His technical skills were breath-takingly sung ! No one sings it better.
A wonderful singer. what ability!!
Incredible!!!!, i had the opportunity to hear him a lot of times in Vienna, just perfect!!!
This rendition is wonderful not only because of the high C, but he sang all the time very nice, as it must be (piano, legatto, as a monologue).
Bravo Signore Sabattini. The high C is to crown this perfect interpretation!
un immense tenor!
Unbelievable 5:40 minute. The best high C and piano Ive ever heard

Beautifully controlled diminuendo! Bravo
Bravissimo. Un Do perfetto
GIUSEPPE SABBATINI IN "SALUT DEMEURE CHASTE ET PURE" (FAUST)
Sabbatini. Magnificent tenor!
Reminds me of Kraus and has similar fabulous technique.
grazie maestro Sabbatini
What a magnificent diminuendo. Not just fantastic because it was on a high C but because the rate of volume decrease was so even, so pure,so elegant.
Thank you from Uk 🤗
Excelente tenor!
Apart from being technically perfect and musical in this aria, I find his personality immensely likeable.
Fabulous singing
Excellent! He kinda looks and sounds like Charles Castronovo here.
bellissimo il diminuendo sull'acuto
Diminuendo! What a beauty and mastery.
GRANDE TENORE....SMORZARE UN DO AD ALTA QUOTA ..E 'IMPRESA DI UN TENORE DI ALTRI TEMPI.GRANDE TECNICA.
¡Diminuendo supremo!
young Sabbatini was just perfect!
