GS is VERY underrated and always has been unfortunately. he is one of the most amazing tenors out there, and far superior to most of them today. his technique is amazing and he is rock solid in every way. honestly he is better than many great tenors of the past all around. this is a clinic on pure vocalism.

Mamma mia! It doesn't get any better than this. Just unbelievable, but hearing is believing! And for what my 2 cents are worth, there was not a "drop" of falsetto in the High C. There was however a perfect dimenuendo from full voice to "un fil di voce". Perfetto, Sublime! Ecco un vero Gran Maestro!
The ability to sing a high C in full voice and then diminuendo to piano while transitioning from full to head tone to falsetto is sublime and downright difficult to do. The command this tenor has over his voice is admirable. Bravo for sharing this with the world.
This was really beautifully sung with sympathetic interpretation and the high C diminuendo was out of the top drawer, REALLY EXCELLENT! I'm a baritone and so don't know the music and whether it calls for a diminuendo or not, but nonetheless Mr Sabbatini's technical control over that diminuendo was phenomenal! Bravo!

I follow opera and I'm surprised that his career wasn't more luminescent ie with Pavorotti and Domingo. Perhaps not not the versatility of voice that is Domingo's but clearly more skilled than many who make a nice nice career and name for themselves. I have heard the control "up top" only from Corelli.

This was the best Salute, demeure et chaste et pure, I have heard in a long time. I have heard the Bjorling, at leats two different recordings; my late mom heard Bjorling in this live in the early fifties, and raved. This absolutely on par with Bjorling andl also Kraus. The high C, with diminuendo was ravishingly beautiful. Only the truly great can accomplish that, like Pavarotti in his earlier recording of Celeste Aida when he sings a heartstopping diminuendo at the end . Thanks!
One of the best renditions of the aria with the vocalism and thoughtfulness it deserves! Almost every great tenor has done it beginning with Bjoerling,DiStefano and Gedda being the gold standards.
This rendition is wonderful not only because of the high C, but he sang all the time very nice, as it must be (piano, legatto, as a monologue). Bravo Signore Sabattini. The high C is to crown this perfect interpretation!

I think that Giuseppe Sabbatini has a so underrated voice by the media, but so beautifully phrased, technically impeccable and so clean, that he deserves to be acknowledged forever. A real Italian voice.
One of the best tenor's working now (anyway, in 2016, I hope this is still the case). Along with early Di Stefano & Björling this version is hard to beat. Not forgetting Gedda but his approach, fine as it is, lacks the warmth of sound that these 3 provide.

su High C brilla precioso, respira sin problemas para cantar toda la estrofa musical, ya que la mayoria de tenores, toman aire casi antes del High C para que no les falte la respiración, ademas, ataca casi de manera directa la nota, sin ningún esfuerzo, la técnica, trabajada como nadie en el mundo ni en diferentes epocas; Salvo Distefano, para hacer un sutil molto pianissimo. la mayoría resuelven la nota como pueden, magnifico y Exquisito..
Clearly many of you are just jealous. The high C was voce piena in testa timbre to begin with moving to a sublime mezza voce and down to voce finta for the Ab. This is elite level vocalism. As for comments about his so called "small" voice. Although his voice may be described as light lyric, his capacity for carrying over the orchestra is not limited to this description. Furthermore, the suggestion that was using falsetto is just ridiculous given the timbre of the emission.
@Alieaz I also believe that! he's hi C were not pushed in the chest. It was more of the head voice but NOT FALSETTO!!! Those who says its falsetto, DIE in ENVY!!! because you don't know how to do this!! hahahaha!!!
That is absolutely not a falsetto C. But his covered chest (aka "Half-chest") C in the beginning is still too strong. Listen to Caruso and Thill and Di Stefano for a more nuanced interpretation.
That high C and the entire phrase is done so well it’s almost supernatural!
