I just came back to the game after a fifteen year break. When i played back in the day I was blindly smashing my head against the wall. Well as of tonight I killed Baal on Hell. I know it’s not a major thing but D2 was the first game I fell in love with during my first enlistment. Finally beating it on Hell mode feels good. Thanks for the guide.
Yeah it's been like 13-15 years for me, I didn't understand it that much but had found good pals that helped me out and I had good endgame characters. But I'm proud that I'm mostly self found on PS5 now with my orb/FB sorc. Can farm most of the areas, CS and Worldstone keep are a little slow though (obviously since I'm dual spec too) and Worldstone keep is really dangerous for me. But it's a great start and I fell in love all over again.
Man I sincerely thank you for this guide. I really just started getting into the game, everyone’s like blizz sorceress is the best in the game, all through nightmare I was like absolutely, little to no problem, got to hell, had my mercenary do den of evil for me, and thought I had to be messing something up, then watching you just be like “yeah 70% of the game, we just can’t play it because our damage is irrelevant” and I’m like damn, that does suck but it’s something I can accept knowing it’s the way it is. Now I’m starting act 5 and think I’ll have it beat by the end of the day. Thanks llama.

I came here after dying terribly about 3 times to hell duriel, even had the idea to get a lifetap wand so maybe the merc could live long enough to make repeat resing worth it but he dies instantly anyway. After watching how quick and simple llama made it look, I then killed him first try out of sheer spite of the idea duriel was outplaying me. Light is a bit different than cold but I was like "nope, already doing the right thing, guess i just need to git gud" Thank you Llama! Even if it wasnt the solution i came looking for hahaha
I just crossed into Act 3 in Nightmare on D2R and I have to say... I never thought I could enjoy playing this game again. I was always scared of matching up against Diablo, let alone Baal. These walktrhoughs have given me so many awesome tools to use. The most obvious advice to follow is resistances and dodging those immune baddies. Can't count how many times I died (in Normal!) because I thought upping my defense or using Hydra because it looked cool was doing me any good; and standing in a cave shooting iceballs at a cold immune like one day it was just going to start taking damage.. Wrong! Thanks Mr Lam! I am officially hooked, again!
I watched this entire 3 part series before the season 5 reset and again as I played thru the game. Always learned something new I missed. Thanks again for the awesome content.

Regarding Duriel drops, I've never ever, since I first played D2 twenty years ago and until now, seen the 5 town portal drop from Duriel, but I've seen it twice (or three times?) in your videos over the past few weeks of binge watching. That's frickin' hilarious.

if you are creating a leaf runeward so late, normal act 1 +2 , you can buy 2 sockets stave that already has +fileball/bolt which can be socketed into a leaf with better +to skills.. (it all adds up) can only be done on normal 1+2 , items bought from the shop. ive done it myself (fire sorc leveling), had a firebolt + 6 or so / +1 ball leaf (it was super expensive though, at the time i was around 30 and it cost 200k)
Love the videos. I started playing this game again a few days ago coz when i was younger i cant even finish act 1 in hell, so i just felt i need to finish the game at some point. I just finished the ancients quest in hell last night with my sorc and it was totally nasty, like its the hardest game ever in the history of mankind. Found out later that i forgot to switch out of Players 8 when i did that ancient quest :(
hc tip for sorc walk with a fireball for the increased view distance and use meteor as a step stone so if something runs up just step back so meteor smashes em on time

So i started farming countess like 50times already but she hasn't droped any keys so far. Do i have 2 kill Baal First and then she can drop Keys or am i Really Unglücks?

Another great guide! I completely lack your skill and dexterity MrLlamaSC, so I'm like in the mid to high 70's by the time I reach act IV LOL and I did end up getting a Merc, however, I would not have gotten that far solo without the guide. Plugy has aslo been a great learning tool for experimenting with the build and not worrying about inventory and being able to use those Ladder rune words. I have a question though, do you generally recommend firewall over fireball? This may be another skill thing, but I was having trouble aiming the firewall, on the other hand I'm having trouble doing a lot of damage with fireball.. My level is getting up there so I'm guessing I can get something out of the fire tree.
Just play at your own pace and have fun! I think fireball is better for general use, but firewall is fantastic damage for slow monsters (or if you glitch) That being said, it requires more skill points to really get value

Yeah, I think I get it now - I was trying out fireball and at my level the damage is just too low. So a bit more practice aiming firewall and I should be good while I try to pack on a lot more levels for something else :)
How do you deal with Flayer jungle? I have 66% fcr and cold immune flayers outrun my teleport when I hold the button down. And god forbid one of them gets within half a screen, the mana deletion is brutal.
Around 55:50 you mention using larzuk's reward to socket an item but you also mention "socket quest for 50% chance". Is that what it's called when you use the cube to try get sockets or is there another way to get free sockets for an item?
How did you make it that she cast her skills so quick? (ok gear have to have faster cast rate% but mine have and its slow AF), also which charms to keep and which to throw away? My inventory is full of charms magic find and mana, some resistances. but yours is almost empty?
Just beat hell using this guide. Level 69 sorceress by the end and Baal dropped magefist for me. Long process but something I've wanted since I started playing in 2017. Just finishing up a few quests with the duel spec before respeccing to Blizzard
I've followed the guide with a HC sorc up to hell, I will be looking to respec out of Orb+Meteor to Blizz+something. What will be a good build to do so? How to balance the Blizz synergy with Fire damage? UPDATE: In act 4 hell now, Blizzard + Fireball when needed works well. UPDATE 2: Killed the ancients, damn it was so long and I ran out of potions. Lucky I put 1 point in warmth :X UPDATE 3: Got killed trying to farm Mephisto by his charged bolts :( was soooooooo close to actually finishing hell. Oh well, I guess I will try with a Necromancer, should be easier I guess?
In d2r with mt blizzard sorc I got basically all the nastiness you were talking about. Flayer jungle was the worst, all cold immune and had to teleport through basically all the auras 😂
I got stuck on act 4 with my blizzard sorc, couldn't kill lord de seis, finally found a lem rune and made treachery for my merc and he was able to survive and kill him.
I am assuming for Diablo 2 Resurrected they have fixed all these bugs that can be exploited in the game? Have you checked that MrLlamaSC as I assume you have access to the alpha?
Hey Alex how you doing bud? Don't know if you ever see my comments on some of these older videos or not but anyways I got home from Afghanistan a couple months ago And My girlfriend of 4 years knows more about Diablo 2 then most because it's a big part of my life, one if my biggest hobbies and I talk about it often. She knows a surprising amount about the game for never playing it it is really quite impressive. I told her that following along with you would be the best way to learn (after i gave her a run down of classes, builds, what type of items to look for etc..) She started with the Barb play along and still hasn't beaten hell she's stuck in Act 3 and she decided to start a sorceress. There are 3 pieces of feedback she wanted me to pass along (why she doesn't pass it along idk). The first one is she thinks your integrating too much speedruning in the guides that make them seem a little rushed, VERY rushed for New players which is what this series is targeting. She said the Andarial bug is one place to consider slowing down and you talk about it everytime but usually not until after youve already returned to town. She suggests before entering catacombs level 4 remimd people to adjust playerd count if they need to so they don't get 1 shot by her and then explain the andy bug before you enter level 4 while you aren't fighting monsters and trying to loot with the screen shaking. Keep it simple for New players (when Andy dies, do not save and quit take her TP back to town or your own TP back to town, talk to Warriv right away and go to Act 2, then save and quit and go about your playthrough. Maybe you can talk to other people I truly do not know but for New players we both suggest keep it as simple as possible. If anyone asks how to tell if it works well you know the answer if she drops gold you did something wrong. The 2nd thing is the super chests at the lower kurast campfires. She said that you never said anything about the campfires you just said "you can look for two of this map and there will be super chests you can pop" then you changed to players 8 and opened some chests. I explained to get the campfires and showed her on the map what landmarks to kind of look for and she said if you showed the campfires and the houses the chests are in and said you can spawn a maximum of 2 campfires or a minimum of 1 campfire then new players know what to look for. I even think it was really confusing in these playthroughs when you said "you can spawn two of this map" in lower kurast i thought you were talking about re rolling maps maybe. You are a really smart guy, too smart to be saying things like "you can spawn two of these maps" haha ANNYWAYS sorry I know this is alot but last thing is her and I both agree that the joy in these is taking TIME to play the game with you. This means even though you know that you don't need to complete all of the quests, we still think you should be completing all of the quests. Nicole got stuck on blood raven and said you never did blood raven once. Nicole also missed out on skill points because you skip Radament a lot and the Den of Evil. Even if you know there are cold immune there or whatever, new players don't know that. And you say all the time that in Nitemare and hell you just can't kill everything you have to skip stuff but you are a pro speedrunner you can run straight through the ancients way without dying while dodging mobs, new players are getting absolutely wrecked trying to play along with you. You are level 51 in Act 3 hell and you haven't done any farming in this run. New players need to watch how you are skipping past groups of monsters because every charecter is so different you can't treat them the same and just run through entire acts. I watched this video here and dude your like speed running the entire game, it isn't really a playthrough it seems very rushed. I love you and your content, I don't need any help with this game. But knowing my girlfriend was loving this game and is ready to give up on it because she can't best hell because playing along with you you are just running past everything really sucks. I hope you read this, I hope you make the playthroughs more like playthroughs and not rush to beat each difficulty in 2 hours. With the Barb you did a ton of leveling and farming I wonder why they aren't all like that. Take care bud
And I know you tell people to level up and farm for awhile before moving on, but if you move on at 50 and run past everything you aren't guiding the viewers through the game Llama!! I just watched you got from Lower Kurast to mephisto in 4 minutes and kill 1 council member. How is any new player supposed to pull this off? Act 3 I got to today and even with 75 light res those mana burning floaty lightning shooting things were still a HUGE SOB. In the words of Bender from Futurama I say CHEESE IT. I got a Wizardspike off nite Baal tho, it's literally a life saver

Dude.. I’m hit or miss in claw viper as blizzard sorc even with spirit sword sumtimes I get locked down and just lose all my gold... last night I had insanely lucky rng but any tips? Could I drop gold by stash in private game perhaps?
if you're playing in singleplayer you won't lose gold in stash. On multiplayer honestly you could just drop some gold in town or give it to a friend to hold. Only problem is if you leave it there for too long it will disappear so just make sure to refresh it every time you go back to town.
PRACTICALLY IMORTAL MERC = GAZE + TREACHERY Thewn u can give him an insight pole and stop fuxing round with all the mana pots - makes teleporting with manashield more viable as well
For whatever reason I thought I needed to do the "den of evil" to move on... With cold/fire sorc I couldn't finish because the "boss" was cold/fire immune and my merc couldn't kill it, so I was just like "whelp, I guess I can't continue on in hell..." and just stopped playing sorc on hell... LoL I feel dumb...
11 min for act 1 hell lol... meanwhile me arriving at cold/fire-immune Countess for the 5th time in a row, realizing youtubers lied when saying always go left / clockwise to reach floor 5... ^^ Thanks for the guides, learning so much here. *edit* turns out she's always fire/cold immune, not random -_-
The llama factor… Me having more life, res, mana and higher level, still not being able to get through hell A5 solo… Its either playing on PS or the llama factor. Or me being an ridiculous noob… 🤯
great video. but for a player less than your skill level, trying to get to baal and some of the act 5 stuff is next level frustrating and tilting. going through every zone, resetting cuz of cold immunes a million times, finally getting to last wave on baal minions after multiple resets and then lister spawns with spectral hit and extra fast is just gg. leveling sorc thru hell is pure absolute pain

Was totaly stuck in Act 3 on the high council with my Cold Sorceress - Your Tip with re roll the map and try drag one away defently helped a lot :)

The x5 town portal is actually the rarest drop in the game.

I think fireball is better for general use, but firewall is fantastic damage for slow monsters (or if you glitch)
That being said, it requires more skill points to really get value

Yeah, I think I get it now - I was trying out fireball and at my level the damage is just too low. So a bit more practice aiming firewall and I should be good while I try to pack on a lot more levels for something else :)
How do you deal with Flayer jungle? I have 66% fcr and cold immune flayers outrun my teleport when I hold the button down. And god forbid one of them gets within half a screen, the mana deletion is brutal.
Around 55:50 you mention using larzuk's reward to socket an item but you also mention "socket quest for 50% chance". Is that what it's called when you use the cube to try get sockets or is there another way to get free sockets for an item?
I think he just got confused, pretty sure he was talking about the cube recipe
How did you make it that she cast her skills so quick? (ok gear have to have faster cast rate% but mine have and its slow AF), also which charms to keep and which to throw away? My inventory is full of charms magic find and mana, some resistances. but yours is almost empty?
Just beat hell using this guide. Level 69 sorceress by the end and Baal dropped magefist for me. Long process but something I've wanted since I started playing in 2017. Just finishing up a few quests with the duel spec before respeccing to Blizzard
I've followed the guide with a HC sorc up to hell, I will be looking to respec out of Orb+Meteor to Blizz+something. What will be a good build to do so? How to balance the Blizz synergy with Fire damage?
UPDATE: In act 4 hell now, Blizzard + Fireball when needed works well.
UPDATE 2: Killed the ancients, damn it was so long and I ran out of potions. Lucky I put 1 point in warmth :X
UPDATE 3: Got killed trying to farm Mephisto by his charged bolts :( was soooooooo close to actually finishing hell. Oh well, I guess I will try with a Necromancer, should be easier I guess?

In d2r with mt blizzard sorc I got basically all the nastiness you were talking about. Flayer jungle was the worst, all cold immune and had to teleport through basically all the auras 😂

I’ve been using your forb/fireball build on my sorc and hell was a breeze! +9 skills forb dmg is around 430 and fireball is around 4500 or so

I got stuck on act 4 with my blizzard sorc, couldn't kill lord de seis, finally found a lem rune and made treachery for my merc and he was able to survive and kill him.
Are you doing the druid, assa and Barb too? I love listening to this throughout the day,
I am assuming for Diablo 2 Resurrected they have fixed all these bugs that can be exploited in the game? Have you checked that MrLlamaSC as I assume you have access to the alpha?

Hey Alex how you doing bud? Don't know if you ever see my comments on some of these older videos or not but anyways I got home from Afghanistan a couple months ago And My girlfriend of 4 years knows more about Diablo 2 then most because it's a big part of my life, one if my biggest hobbies and I talk about it often. She knows a surprising amount about the game for never playing it it is really quite impressive. I told her that following along with you would be the best way to learn (after i gave her a run down of classes, builds, what type of items to look for etc..) She started with the Barb play along and still hasn't beaten hell she's stuck in Act 3 and she decided to start a sorceress. There are 3 pieces of feedback she wanted me to pass along (why she doesn't pass it along idk). The first one is she thinks your integrating too much speedruning in the guides that make them seem a little rushed, VERY rushed for New players which is what this series is targeting. She said the Andarial bug is one place to consider slowing down and you talk about it everytime but usually not until after youve already returned to town. She suggests before entering catacombs level 4 remimd people to adjust playerd count if they need to so they don't get 1 shot by her and then explain the andy bug before you enter level 4 while you aren't fighting monsters and trying to loot with the screen shaking. Keep it simple for New players (when Andy dies, do not save and quit take her TP back to town or your own TP back to town, talk to Warriv right away and go to Act 2, then save and quit and go about your playthrough. Maybe you can talk to other people I truly do not know but for New players we both suggest keep it as simple as possible. If anyone asks how to tell if it works well you know the answer if she drops gold you did something wrong. The 2nd thing is the super chests at the lower kurast campfires. She said that you never said anything about the campfires you just said "you can look for two of this map and there will be super chests you can pop" then you changed to players 8 and opened some chests. I explained to get the campfires and showed her on the map what landmarks to kind of look for and she said if you showed the campfires and the houses the chests are in and said you can spawn a maximum of 2 campfires or a minimum of 1 campfire then new players know what to look for. I even think it was really confusing in these playthroughs when you said "you can spawn two of this map" in lower kurast i thought you were talking about re rolling maps maybe. You are a really smart guy, too smart to be saying things like "you can spawn two of these maps" haha ANNYWAYS sorry I know this is alot but last thing is her and I both agree that the joy in these is taking TIME to play the game with you. This means even though you know that you don't need to complete all of the quests, we still think you should be completing all of the quests. Nicole got stuck on blood raven and said you never did blood raven once. Nicole also missed out on skill points because you skip Radament a lot and the Den of Evil. Even if you know there are cold immune there or whatever, new players don't know that. And you say all the time that in Nitemare and hell you just can't kill everything you have to skip stuff but you are a pro speedrunner you can run straight through the ancients way without dying while dodging mobs, new players are getting absolutely wrecked trying to play along with you. You are level 51 in Act 3 hell and you haven't done any farming in this run. New players need to watch how you are skipping past groups of monsters because every charecter is so different you can't treat them the same and just run through entire acts. I watched this video here and dude your like speed running the entire game, it isn't really a playthrough it seems very rushed. I love you and your content, I don't need any help with this game. But knowing my girlfriend was loving this game and is ready to give up on it because she can't best hell because playing along with you you are just running past everything really sucks. I hope you read this, I hope you make the playthroughs more like playthroughs and not rush to beat each difficulty in 2 hours. With the Barb you did a ton of leveling and farming I wonder why they aren't all like that. Take care bud
And I know you tell people to level up and farm for awhile before moving on, but if you move on at 50 and run past everything you aren't guiding the viewers through the game Llama!! I just watched you got from Lower Kurast to mephisto in 4 minutes and kill 1 council member. How is any new player supposed to pull this off? My poor girlfriend is stuck in Act 3 Hell on her Barb and her Sorc now:(

Act 3 I got to today and even with 75 light res those mana burning floaty lightning shooting things were still a HUGE SOB. In the words of Bender from Futurama I say CHEESE IT. I got a Wizardspike off nite Baal tho, it's literally a life saver

Duriel has dropped 6 town scrolls for me before too. Its the absolute worst.
What would be nice is, at the end, if you spend some time saying what you would do next if this was your character... where you'd farm, how you'd farm, etc.

Dude.. I’m hit or miss in claw viper as blizzard sorc even with spirit sword sumtimes I get locked down and just lose all my gold... last night I had insanely lucky rng but any tips? Could I drop gold by stash in private game perhaps?
if you're playing in singleplayer you won't lose gold in stash. On multiplayer honestly you could just drop some gold in town or give it to a friend to hold. Only problem is if you leave it there for too long it will disappear so just make sure to refresh it every time you go back to town.
I drop about a mil worth of potions in ancients 🤣but didn't consider re rolling. I thought bugging mercs was nerfed so didn't bother.

For whatever reason I thought I needed to do the "den of evil" to move on... With cold/fire sorc I couldn't finish because the "boss" was cold/fire immune and my merc couldn't kill it, so I was just like "whelp, I guess I can't continue on in hell..." and just stopped playing sorc on hell... LoL I feel dumb...
11 min for act 1 hell lol... meanwhile me arriving at cold/fire-immune Countess for the 5th time in a row, realizing youtubers lied when saying always go left / clockwise to reach floor 5... ^^ Thanks for the guides, learning so much here.

I was lightning, and I was forced to realize that I can't outdamage corpsefire's regen. It was outright ridiculous.
great video. but for a player less than your skill level, trying to get to baal and some of the act 5 stuff is next level frustrating and tilting. going through every zone, resetting cuz of cold immunes a million times, finally getting to last wave on baal minions after multiple resets and then lister spawns with spectral hit and extra fast is just gg. leveling sorc thru hell is pure absolute pain
