I remember from my service in the Norwegian royal coast guard that we actually took onboard a 18 year old from a UK fishing boat out in the North Sea (in the Norwegian sector) he was threatening his crew and to sabotage the vessel. So the skipper of the UK boat asked us for help. We saved them a long trip home, since we where to return to port in Norway. The young lad was kept under supervision on our ship, he was given his own cabin and allowed to phone home. He actually was thrilled about how well he was threated and the excellent food he was served. He was unloaded in Norway and later returned home. Having such people onboard a ship is a nightmare, totally understand the UK boat wanted him off for their safety and his own.
Judging by the kid's behaviour and the way his parents talk about him, I doubt they ever even made the effort to start with him. His attitude is way beyond being pampered, his parents never bothered to teach him anything.
As parents we installed a work ethic in our boys who have followed it through and forged good careers. I'm pleased to say that they have continued that ethic down to my grandchildren who are still as focussed!
Sadly I think Simon will continue down the same path for as long as daddy and mummy continue to facilitate his pathetic attitude. If they stopped babying him,and stopped hampering to his every want he'd start learning. I had great parents who kept me safe while giving me a safe home ,a warm bed, a good education ,and good health. I learnt very early to -do household chores, homework, have respect and consideration for those around me,to be honest and kind, and to expect to work for everything I got. My Dad and mum were not well off but they set me up To be an asset to an employer and I've never had any real drama finding work. I've walked away from jobs at times, but was never unemployed for very long. I'd left school at 15 and got my trade qualifications just after turning 19. ( A four year apprenticeship). If you meet an employer like the captain on that boat often it all about your work ethic. Many employers are happy to train someone totally inexperienced if that new person is showing that he or she will work hard and try to learn as quickly as possible . My wife's niece worked as a solo deckhand on a small prawn trawler off northern Queensland Australia. The temperature up there is stifling in summer. Sometimes over 40 Celcius and the water is teaming with dangerous sharks. She was only 18 but the captain was sad to see her go. She helped me on a job digging and pushing a wheelbarrow. She worked a lot harder than a lot of the muscled up, gym junkies I've seen on building sites. It's all about having the right attitude
Simon is the epitome of the youth of today , all that was missing was he wasn't glued to his phone, maybe he should glue himself to a few roads as he says he is rebellious, he has the makings of 1 of them useless activists
Do you reckon if Shiney was made from chocolate that he'd eat himself? Any Brixham Lads know this? Does Shiney jump between boats for different species? I'm sure I saw him skippering the "Angel Amiel"
Simon is the product of his parents always letting him do whatever he likes. My mum would have slapped the skin of me if I'd behave like that as a teenager. I was almost all a qualified carpenter/joiner by that age. Reading plans and machining all the components. I remember tearing the cartilage out of my ribcage at 15 after a piece of timber flew off a industrial table saw and hit me in the ribs. My boss gave me five minutes grace before I had to start machining timber again. 34 years later and I'm still suffering but I got the career I really wanted.
It would be pretty sick joining your first job at that age and just by chance Simon was on it. Not matter how shit you were you would never get the blame for anything.
Simon's behaviour was appalling but it's upsetting to see his parents not even have a word (good or bad) between them when asked to describe him, you created this, you are responsible for this. You cannot raise your child not appreciating how money is made or understanding it takes hard work to achieve wealth, then literally throw him out to sea when he gets to a certain age, is an entitled knob because you allowed him to be and just expect him to act accordingly. It's piss poor parenting.
Not a good first job. Yet, his parents are not to totally blame. Social media is a cancer as well. This kid is a POS and no awareness of the position and people surrounding him.
@@njd4291 I would second that I grew up at the peak time of Facebook and insta arriving on set. Although I was terrified of poverty and being a bum. I wanted to make money. went to college just to meet new people, 19 started my own gardening business and never looked back. travelled to 12 different countries, proud of that. but his behaviour is come on, pathetic
@jamesalex5474 I was the same. I remember when facebook came out, it was just for college students. You had to have your college email be verified before getting a profile. Then it opened up to the world. Got rid of mine years ago.
Whats going on grading Scollops by hand / eye,,, I worked on a Prawn trawler 48 years ago and we had a grader to size them,,, it was a trommel with different size holes ,, the little shells fell through the big holes ,, ,,

Simon is a product of his parents, they need to take responsibility for it. Kids don't turn into teens
like that by accident or fate!
Absolutely bulls..t
Simon's parents are so done with him...lol
"how do you describe Simon to me? "
"uh, hmmmm......"
@@ericshang7744 uh,....a pampered brat ?
True
@@ericshang7744 That broke my heart. Poor lad. It's no wonder he's a fucking knob.

It's bloody flat calm Simon!

My condolences.
I am interested in this type of job, how do I go about it plz help
@@calvinynwa6687Good luck with that, fishing fleets are getting smaller every year.
I couldn’t be as kind as some of these deckhands when someone is slacking and needing bottle fed.
I like how the show is uncensored
YES. F$%K this F$%K that. True seamen language.

Fishing can break even the hardest of men I've seen a lot of big hard core guys that have been brought to tears out at sea.
I think the title of this episode should have been "man overboard."

He really does love himself, I bet he has a mirror in his pocket so he can sit in the wheel house and look at himself all day.
You can not inherit secondary drowning!

Simon would be good as.......
Bait for crab pots, complete W⚓
Simon years later actually went on to be a skipper of a 15m vivier crab boat then.
How can I get contacts of skippers I so love this jobs

Skipper handled that well. I don't know how he didn't throw him over board. What a turd

Love drew
seems such a decent bloke.
works hard happy go lucky and seems a true gent.
simon should of been thrown overboard
✊🏼💦
If you only do it for the money you probably shouldn't be a fisherman, you gotta love what you do out there
If I was the skipper, I'd push Simon over board and then drag him back on board.
Maybe he'll be a good PieMan
top kid Travis hope he gets his dream Australia with his own boat, if so I'd work for him
27:15 this jobs is a ______ lottery it really is
I didn't catch that until you said and I've watched this episode a few times.
Don´t they have fishermans union in England ? That gives you a minium wage if the boat doesn´t make a good trip ? We have that in the Faroe Islands
I’ve worked with kids like that also
Just watched your video. I feel sorry for shiney having to put up with that waste of space.
the look of that simon is enough no work in him
look at him, simon never stood a chance the captain only took him for a laugh n it backfired a little but made some good tv lol
What a little wimp, any potential girlfriend for that lad- watch this first lol
Spoilt brat. Use him for bait.
Too much hard work for him apparently, perfect politician material then.
I wouldn't go to sea on that
33:03 simon is a chav
It's fortunate that Simon's parents only had one child to ruin and impose upon the world.
This is the second show shiny has been in
Yes I uploaded the other show but it got took down.
That’s the kids theses days
A good start on becoming a man is cutting the justin beiber hair cut.
That spoilt kid wouldn’t have got on the boat in the first instance then he would have been dealt with in an interesting manner …….
Get some paint
You couldn’t lace your fathers boots
Simon needs to have his as kicked out of the house and cut off the money from mom and dad
