- bungie is really busting out the good stuff for final shape. a subclass that lets you combine multiple subclasses, the ability to use multiple exotics (including ones not from your class) and new final shape gameplay with new enemies. they are actually cooking. they are actually doing it.

When the devs saw the community's potential to mix and match everything when the craft incident happened, i think they saw an opportunity
I immediately thought of the Craftening when I saw this. I think they realized just how sturdy the game is when you mix and match things that were never meant to be together, like trace rifle grenade launchers and stuff.
If that was the inspiration, this community needs to be even a little respect on Bungies name for literally doing the thing that a bug created but making it a feature.

That's a good point. Maybe go full abilities of one element and maybe a fragment or an aspect from somewhere else and maybe even not and boom you've got a single element prismatic subclass. Wonder if they kept some stuff to be within the other subclass as a kind of expert into one element idea for our regular subclasses
Hoping it isn't like three aspects slots but one has to be light-based, one darkness-based and the final one is free to choose.
If it's total freedom, then yeah, Prismatic will become my new Solar Warlock with 3 Solar aspects. Don't care for anything else lmao

@@JungKooksTwin I know it's not officially a ViDoc, but the structure and presentation are basically like one.
The way I see them balancing things out with the prismatic thing, besides just putting some varied limits on things, is the idea that you can either be a jack of all trades but master of none, or you can specialize in one thing and become a one trick pony. Part of what makes the mono element classes so good is how they feed into eachother, syntho berserker titan, the assassin cowl hunter, sunbracers warlock for example. While this allows for new combos to be be possible and new ways to feed into eachother, not just have all abilities at once, like they said.
Can you imagine how insane Strand Titan will be if you can get a class item with the exotic perks from both Synthos and Worm God?
I think the class items borrow from the other classes, so it'd be more like Liars Handshake/Winter's Guile. Regardless, that'd be pretty exciting!
But some things just objectively fit well, icarus dash on strand. Devour as a whole is just crazy.
Yeah I’m not sure if there is a balance approach with this as we are approaching the end of the game. I think this is a “throw the kitchen sink at them” approach within the guard rails of the game (from an engineering perspective) and just dealing with any issues until they reallocate employees off of supporting the game.
The problem is that it's not actually a limitation because abilities trigger regardless of what element you use. You get radiant from Strand melee anyway, why would you have to use solar if you can achieve the same thing, but replace weak aspects of solar with something stronger from other classes, like Arcane Needle that has 3 charges or Devour for free

The grind for the exotic class items sounds like its going to be insane, so many combos to chase
Loads of duff combos too. It’ll be nice to get some usage out of off meta exotics though. Support warlock is going to be incredibly strong, osmiomancy for add control and a lunafaction well for dps.
I'd probably be okay with it if those were the only armor exotics in the expansion, because holy shit, that sounds like enough of a grind on its own.
Theoretically as a hunter with prismatic, armamentarium titan exotic (not sure that's right so the chest that gives an extra grenade), and osmiomany, with the strand grenade aspect, you could have four cold snaps right? (I cried when I saw the aspects were limited, yes)

with a decent phoenix build you can get your well back before the first one ends giving you near unlimited wells so you don't need lunas
I'd say phoenix + sunbracers with touch of flames would be a better combo as you'd have ad clear, dps and survivability with minimal micromanging as it's easy to proc sunbracers and keep your abilities refreshed with ignition spam and dealing damage gives you super energy giving you unlimited wells paired with phoenix
another factor will be the new seasonal mods, as we could make some disgusting builds if they give us more OP mods

The new dread enemies look very nice design wise and gameplay doesn’t look to bad flying enemy is interesting.
The combo subclass and exotic stuff looks super cool and is gonna throw balance out the window in any gamemode.
I imagine prismatic UI is gonna be aspects, fragments, then the ability slots will be just everything. The double perk exotic being prismatic only is smart in how building with a combo subclass but limited to 1 exotic would be hard to build with but this is a good fix.

Like it was 3-4 months ago we got the final shape trailer and from that we only saw the 2 new strand/stasis enemies and no subclass my spin foil hat theory is some heavy words were spoken by Sony about destiny and the devs got to add some crazy ideas like the dread enemies, combo subclasses, and combo exotics you’d think back when we first saw final shape we’d get hints of these things but no the 2 new enemies and extra light supers that’s it but the devs were given room to let the ideas flow

18:32 something else i also noticed is that one of the fireteam members had a ring around their Guardian Rank number, which seemingly was decreasing in length as they took damage. Could just mean something irrelevant but I see it as a possible visible healthbar.

@@shquankinket8068 It's extremely clever, and as any lover of roguelikes can tell you: Freedom can produce some wildly fun results.
Regardless of time constraints I think think this is one of, if not, the best decision they could’ve made. Mixing subclasses and having multiple exotics is something we have been thinking about and wanting for years but always put off as “nah they would never.”
We’ll finally be able to make builds only dreamed of 🎉.
So now we know why they gave us the extra vault space. The number of exotic cloaks I will have will get me on a Vanguard watchlist.

I'm not gonna lie, while Prismatic is going to be just silly levels of fun and I'm excited to put it to use, I kinda hope we still get a 3rd entirely unique Darkness Subclass. Having 3 Light, 2 Dark, and 1 "Everything" Subclass, just feels uneven. I'm certainly not complaining, but I hope it becomes 3-3-1 one day.

Pure speculation here, but the expansion post TFS will be another Shadowkeep, at least in its role. Itll be a lighter year setting up the new saga, and it will therefore need a selling point a fully new subclass is now even more game changing as before, since it'll retroactively work with prismatic to make a ton of new builds possible. I would be surprised if they left it it at 2 darkness subclasses. Seeing what they did subclass wise this time around, i think a darkness subclass wouldn't really fit in thematically.

@skylerharris3914 the problem with this idea is hard is a subjective term and no one is ever really going to agree on what it should mean. Should the raid be more mechanically complex? More enemies? Enemies do more damage and have more health? You have less health? More tormentor ability canceling effects?
I don't want the game to be "harder" I want the game to be enjoyable. If you want my honest take they should implement the ability to adjust the raid encounter difficulties and turn on and off various modifiers but don't really tie anything to them. Maybe like a fleshed out version of that thing they did for nightfall where X modifiers take it from normal to legend to master to grandmaster, but you can continue to make the raid harder beyond that point if you choose by adding more modifiers. I don't think creating content no one will play is a useful way to utilize one's time.
While I CAN play harder content without much issue, I don't like being on the edge of my seat at every moment worried I'll be kicked to orbit. Additionally, players like my fiancée just want to get on and feel the power fantasy. She isn't going to retry an encounter 12 times because 1 guy doesn't know how to stand on a plate or open a door. I want everything in the game to feel enjoyable to use and once that's true THEN we can focus on what we can do in that sandbox to challenge players.
The groups of people who call for this "hard" content need to spend more time on lfg so they can get an idea of what it's like when you can't fill a team with people who play everyday. The community needs to also do a better job of being inclusive of player choices and team dynamics to let players play in way they enjoy.
I hate that every form of survivability gets gutted over and over. I'm all for rotating perks to make new and interesting builds more or less viable, but sometimes it's just not very fun to play when half of my perks want me to be in melee range and/or chain off enemy kills, and the enemies neither die to any of the abilities, nor give you a chance to get within range.
I'm not saying that we as players shouldn't be punished for overcommiting into a pack of enemies or targeting a tough foe without the damage to close the fight, but the game shouldn't be as unforgiving as it is when the builds we have ask us to do just that more often than not.
Love seeing Bungie going nuts like that with some much more experimental shit like this. Would love to see the game evolve even more towards an Action-RPG style game with customization like Path of Exiles of possible fine tunings here and there and modifying already existing stuff via gear. A lot of what they've been doing since Lightfall really does look like its going somewhat more in-depth and varied.
Whatever they're cooking, I'm sitting and waiting for the dish to be served. Genuinly impressed!

I've taken a break from Destiny 2, played through lightfall campaign and a little of season of the deep but that's about it, and ngl this is what's gonna bring me back. Ya boi's HYPED
im personally fine with the exotic class item idea because people need to remember that while you can dip into other class exotics, they are still made for the class they are from
a hunter class item with a berserker titan or a warlock dawnblade exotic perk on is possible, since the warlock bond had the hunters void invis and titans synthos

I can’t wait for Final Shape to come out and see Cheese Forever upload a video where you can exploit the loadout system or some other exploit to equip both the exotic class item and another exotic. I feel like it’s highly unlikely but I can imagine the community would have the same reaction as the crafting bug last year.

The way I picture it, Bungie wanted to do this stuff the whole time. If they'd have gone with the original release date, it would have been impossible. There's loads of combinations to test and variables to tweak. So they parcelled out the new aspects for one of each of the light subclasses and a couple of the new enemies and put the rest of the stuff on the backburner (maybe to bring it in with the Episodes or next year). Then, either they had to delay TFS for another reason, or they realised they needed to win back the fans with a big splash, so they pulled out everything that was almost working and they're still polishing it up now!
Damn. You can really tell Bungies scared. They've got to please the people right now and this does just that.
I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed, but there's definitely a lot here thats interesting.

They need to add the one with double exotic weapons and we are good.
The limitation is that you will only have one ability from each class. For example, Strand grenades will be divided up based on class. Warlock will only get access to threadling grenades where as the hunter will get the grapple. If you want to use the shackle nade as a warlock, you would need to run strand instead of prismatic
My theory is that they started cooking this up shortly after the original Final Shape reveal and the poor reaction to it. The extra three months were for polish and fixing but they've been working on this for at least half a year

On why we can't wear two exotics at once:
A Bungie dev responded to that question on reddit once several years ago. He said the game has a finite amount of memory and so they build everything around that. So, legendary armor pieces don't use a lot of memory because they're basic, but exotics have particle effects and color changes and stuff, which uses a lot more memory.
Any instance in the game basically relies on all Guardians only having one exotic armor piece in order to properly budget memory. Equipping more than one, especially in social spaces with lots of other Guardians, will cause crashes due to lack of memory.
I've been playing a bunch of Last Epoch lately so build crafting is on my mind. I'm really hoping this is Bungie both letting us have fun being super OP in Final Shape, while simultaneously testing how a mix and match skills system would work in the future. This uncapped level of power creep probably means that whatever the next big expansion/title is for Destiny (after the planned season pass stuff), we wont be carrying much over from D2.

If I'm doing my math correctly, they're should be a total of 15,006 exotic perk combinations with the exotic class item. What I really want to know is if the star-eater effect will work with the falling star effect, given that the later will also increase your super damage

Final Shape is looking very promising, also something I noticed is that lots of the weapons seem to be themed around symbols on playing cards, one of the handcannons we've seen in the Final Shape's promo material has a clubs symbol on it, and some of the weapons we've seen in this reveal stream from Bungie have hearts on them.
giving how much bungie have stressing about the stresses of "over developement with a limited staff" over the last 3 years. theyve either got sonys help on develeopment or hoping for a bloody miracle that they get this right the first time.

I remember when the first CGI trailer came out back in August and when the titan summoned their void axe at the end, their glow was very pink. In theory you could also use the exotic class items to combine two exotics both focused on the same subclass.
For example, Lance Cap’s effect mixed with Hoarfrost’s effect.
Cant imagine if Nighthawk and Star-Eater perks rolled together. That could be absolutely insane.
Prismatic is the Super Saiyan 3 of subclasses.

I think that the trade off for being so powerful is not being able to use harmonic armor mods or perks that require matching subclass damage
This will be the only way I take off my memory of cayde cloak. So excited to see what these prismatic subclasses will play like
whenever you say multiclassing i get a very different image in my head, but its an image i hope comes true in future. that exotic class item is a taste of what i hope for.

When I first saw all the subclass abilities at the bottom right I thought it was just place holders for a dev build and then I quickly realized what they were doing and my mind exploded!! 🤯
Mixing subclass stuff is AWESOME. The 2 exotics in one is eeeeeh idk. I think it grinds down on the already pretty rough class identity. However, I'm very excited to make some suspend builds on my warlock with moths and getting infinite woven mail from the titan's legs perk.
In regard to the exotic class item, it seems like they built a whole exotic perk pool from the ground up based on exotic armor we already have to varying degrees. We already saw nerfed Ophidians as a perk so I wouldn’t be surprised if all the perks in the pool were redesigned specifically for the new system.

Small thing I just noticed, when they debuffed the unstop ogre with tractor cannon a debuff timer appeared over the super bar showing how long it still lasted.
I remember I said to myself “if there’s no new enemy race I’m not playing the final shape”

I did hear in the vidoc for the jizzmatic subclass that they specifically said you will be able to combine certain abilities from each class so maybe that means theyll let you choose from a couple of the grenades from each and a couple traits and so on instead of being given pages and pages worth of everything to choose from

From what I heard and saw Prismatic will let you flat out combin all subclasses (limited who knows)
But when you activate transcendent you get a new grenade and ability refresh
Granade is i think static and each class has different elements
Hunter:stasis and solar
Titan:Strand and arc
Warlock: stasis void
The craftening but this time its intentional and for subclasses

holy hell, the double exotic perks is going to be crazy. imagine combining synthoceps and liars handshake, or double super enhancing exotics like celestial nighthawk and star eaters. It will even be cool just for utility too, for example, hunters will be able to have stompees AND a perk that synergises with their build like gyrfalcons
So excited for this, lore accurate titans incoming.
