      I like that the choices in the game can potentially change things, instead of Telltale's classic illusion of choice that makes literally no difference to the story direction. I didn't steal from the car in Walking Dead season 1, why would the game still end with Chapter 5 the way it did.

    [spoilers below]
    Having enjoyed both these games with my gf, I've been a little disappointed that the Dark Pictures Anthology doesn't have _anything_ supernatural in it, so far. Horror stories with real-world explanations can be really good, but the games go out of their way to convince you there IS something ghostly happening, only to pull a switcheroo at the end which just ends up feeling disappointing.
    Little Hope has this problem too, but there's still a lot to like about it. The 'ghosts' were exceptionally well done, they have a great presence and are very memorable. The graphics and 'cinematography' are top-tier. The writing is ... serviceable to poor, but the overall experience was well worth it, in my opinion.

    • @cyte112
      @cyte112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, got a little ways in and I was excited for all the obviously supernatural stuff that was happening. I thought there was no way it could be explained away, but then the end happened.

    • @142doddy
      @142doddy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd like to see one at least where there isn't a switcheroo. All 3 games have had the seeming threat swapped out.
      Give me a full length game like Until Dawn but the slasher is actually the villain

    Couldn't agree more on your review. I feel that supermassive games are the only company that actually have consequences for your actions. Often compared with telltale where your actions make little difference to the final outcomes.

    • @jeremyzak654
      @jeremyzak654 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Problem is there are no consequences for your actions in Little Hope save for two choices. The quick time events, dialogue options, exploration, and character interactions will mean nothing by the end. All you have to do is make the right choice at the end of the game and you will get the happy ending regardless of how many wrong decisions you made during the last five hours. That's flat out criminal.

    too bad the ending throws everything out the window. you liked these characters besides main boy? hmmm you could... or we could just do what we did so everything seems quite pointless

  • @nickelfrizz
    @nickelfrizz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I'll go ahead and say buy the game, it's better than man of Medan. HOWEVER you need to know there is now a character trait system. If you do too many decisions in one direction, witty, aggressive, heroic etc... Then that trait will become locked. Every locked trait increases the QTE timer or will just outright kill them. So you can't just play each character as they are initially portrayed. You have to keep them rounded in their traits if you want them to live.
    Loved 90% of the game, 5% near the end of the game is unfair, last 5% for the ending was pretty good.

    I'm glad this series has it's fans, because the games are rather fun to dissect.
    As for this game, I'd like to note that it took great courage on the writers part to take the most criticized aspect of their previous game and combine it with one of the most hated narrative tropes out there.
    I'd definitely like to see if they triple down in the final part of the trilogy,

      @@cyte112 Because the plot and the characters make no sense. They take actions that make no sense and don't even act like real people. The ending twist is also a very unwelcome cliché. The animation is also not the best in places making it so you have no idea what is happening.
      There is also not much of a game to play.

      The character actions are mainly chosen by you...without an example I can't agree that they don't make sense, and the character personalities seemed real enough , much more like Until Dawn than Man of Medan.
