Why I love the Manhattan

This is why I love the Manhattan. It was my first proper cocktail, and it was made by the great Murray Stenson, who also made the last word famous. It was the first time that whiskey didn't make me wince a little. In fact the flavor reminded me of sitting in front of a warm fire on a cold winter night.
Recipe:
2 ounces (60 ml) rye
1 ounce (30 ml) sweet vermouth
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
Combine everything into a mixing glass, add ice, and stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a Luxardo Cherry. Cheers!

Similar to how I got started drinking bourbon. Only difference is, I started out with sweeter old fashioned, then fell in love sigh the flavor of bourbon.
