- I thought it would be fun to go out into the wilderness and try my hand at survival techniques that I have always wanted to try: Setting up a primitive shelter, starting a fire with a ferrous rod, and surviving a cold night. Of course, when I went out to do this, it had to rain the whole time!
So proud of you!❤
The burnt wood you found would take fire easier.
Next time
Im glad i found your channel ,What scenery !! One small tip ,get a nice saw like a Silky ,that way you can burn larger wood.🙂
I will have to get one of those for the future!
Hey man , love these type of videos I think your a natural at the bushcraft camping videos , I think you should keep these type of videos 👍🏼
Ahh, the joys of bush crafting. This is a really good start! You have already learned a lot from this one trip!
My first bushcraft adventure was in 1963 when I was 8. I had read the book "A Light in the Forest" which was about a boy raised by Indians, and I wanted to do the camping parts. I used 2 upside down lawn chairs in my backyard for my camp, and foraged firewood from my Dad's scrap bucket, and I had to get my mom to light the fire, but I was hooked.
BTW, books have been written about wilderness fire construction techniques, so you did fine.
Pro tip; dead limps on the tree trunks are typically dryer than any limbs on the ground.
I think I am hooked as well after this trip! Thanks for the tip too
This cracked me up. Been there. Done that. Soooooo much to learn and so glad Martha wasn't there! Keep up the good work.
Yeah there’s a lot of learning to be done on my part. Martha will probably come on one of these in the future! She wants to try it out too
Love it. You’re doing what you like.
Your story telling is so good! Love your work
I appreciate it!
It was like a train wreck, I couldn't look away! Glad you made it through!
Hey, you did good! You did it facing a crappy rainy day and night as well and you pulled it off! Just think of how much easier it will be next time when its not raining ! Oh and Martha's there cooking lol Just camping man...we do it all the time and you learned a few things already
amazing video really loved it
This was great!! It was nice to see you out of normal, in a sense, and the scenery was gorgeous!! Thank you for taking me along!! Scared me when you turned the light out, it was DARK!! Do what makes you happy and just take me along for the ride!!
I’m glad you liked it! I was pretty scared there for a while when it got dark for sure
I live in the woods beside a wild river. It gets pitch black like that every night. Lucky for me I have a nice warm dry and most importantly SAFE house to go into!😂
It was so brave to do that in just a tarp shelter open to the elements…especially after seeing the bear scat!
@@docinparadise that sounds like an awesome place to live! I didn't feel too brave in the moment haha
Just got into survival and bushcraft in the past year and still learning. For your first outing you did great. Way better then I did. Need to learn 3 knots bowline, half hitch and trucker's hitch all you need at first. And makeyourself a ridge line. You got this.
Yeah knots are on my priority list, they would have been very helpful on this trip
You are doing fine. I enjoyed the show.
I’ve been watching your videos and didn’t think I would enjoy this video but I found it very entertaining.
Well that is good to hear!
This is my first time EVER watching one of your videos and I can honestly say, it's been like watching a comedy show, especially when you were pitching your tarp and trying to make the fire...Not trying to make fun of you, but it was so funny! I admire the fact that you're giving it a go and I know in time, things will get easier for you. Well done!... I have subscribed to your channel as of today.
That was my intention! I figured it would be funny to watch me struggle haha. Thanks for subscribing!
Good job !
Great vid!
Great vid! I love to watch all kinds of outdoor videos and yours was recommended to me. Super entertaining and well-paced for the length. Your humility and go-getter character shines through. Kudos to you for taking on the bushcraft challenge in the rain! Best of luck to you and your channel’s success.
Thank you for this awesome comment! I’m glad you enjoyed the video
It would be interesting to camp in one of the alcoves you find
Camping in a desert alcove would make an excellent video, I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future
Realy good video i also just started wit outdoor surivival i realy see my self when im watching this:)
This video is for all the survival beginners out there!
Flat air mattresses are cheap and keep you off the ground! I have know amateurs have used garbage bags as tents, back in the 90's! Don't forget people enjoy this video! 😅
Holy sh*t watched half this video and was really interested. Figured I’d subscribe for some more content in the future. How do you have less than 800 subscribers! Great video.
Thank you! I’m just getting started here on TH-cam so that’s why I only have 750 so far
Hey dude, seriously awesome video! I’ve been so curious what it would look like to do a survival/bushcraft style camp in northern Utah. I’m going to do a similar camping trip this weekend up near Heber, UT! Hopefully I survive as comfortable as you did haha
Thank you! Yeah I had never seen any survival in northern Utah before so that added to the fun. Good luck on your trip!
just fond you to day u got u a new sub and u should make more of these vids im thinking of making a you tube for bushcraft my self but love the energy u got will def watch more of your vids
thank you for subscribing! you should definitely make a channel, its a lot of fun
You need a Saw next time. Efficient on cutting woods
That is the plan haha
@@TopoTravelers Get the ubiquitous Bahco Laplander, it's forgiving and durable, and inexpensive! And a saw is way safer than larger chopping tools. If you're going for an axe/hatchet/machete or something, practice at home in case you chop off a body part.
What camera are you using ?
GoPro hero11 black
you kept blowing the fire out. And it's a Ferro rod.
