Such a mesmerising ballad sung beautifully by the wonderful Connie Francis. No one else's voice will ever compare to hers..... There is not any other voice which is so powerful and flawless.
This beautiful ballad went to number one in the States as it did in countries as Germany and Japan, sung in the native languages. What a treat to have this Connie Classic uploaded! This is from the same show as the Folk songs medley that was posted earlier in two parts. At the beginning of this show Connie performed a swinging version of Does ol' Broadway ever sleep from het Twist LP. I am sure we will get to see that vivacious performance as well one of these days. Once again a great big thank you for the lovely people at this channel for sharing all these spectacular Connie clips with us!!
This is such a testament to the singers of the 60s and 70s that their live performances were the same as their recordings... you got the same wonderful quality whether live or on the radio or home stereo. Connie is unrivaled for the consistent beauty of her voice and she was physically beautiful as well.

She sang it live perfectly even better than her record - and the record is fabulous - one of her Number One Hit records - and, about a year later, she had another Hit called "follow the boys" which also should have been another number One hit (although it did well on the charts) - she was and is known as the Top Female pop vocalist of all time and she certainly earned that Title.

So nice to hear her with just her voice and not the overdubbing that usually accompanies her vocal recordings . She really belts out this great ballad !

(classic movie quote question) "Where were you in '62?" This is by far one of the most underplayed records on oldies circuits. I've always considered this his one of Connie's best...Love how she bridges this song with a soliloquy ...I call it Connie's "rap" song :----)
JUST AS GOOD AS THE VERSION THAT WAS COMMERCIALLY RELEASED IN WHICH SHE HARMONIZED THROUGH THE OVERDUB PROCESS. I INITIALLY THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS AN ALTERNATE TAKE TO WHICH SHE WAS LIP-SYNCHING. BUT AFTER RE-WATCHING IT SHE IS DEFINITELY SINGING ALONG TO AN ORCHESTRATED TRACK FOR USE ON LIVE TV SHOWS LIKE THIS. NEVER ANOTHER VOICE LIKE HERS IN 1,000 YEARS! ✌️🤠👏👍🙏🌠
One of my favorite Connie performances from the Ed Sullivan show! I've always loved this song, and she gives us a great emotional reading of the ballad. Thank you for posting this, and please also post Franco Corelli's performance on this episode.
I love listening watching Connie Francis ! Her songs are awesome ! Used to listen to her songs n my Dads old Connie Francis records ! First heard her songs age 3 and 4 in 1959 and 1960 ! Shes the best singer besides Liza MInnelli Bette Midler and Judy Garland !

far superior to the commercially released recording. I don't like overlapping voices, especially when you have a wonderful voice like Connie's. It doesn't need extra features. It shines tremendously by itself.
It's not the fact that the dress is metallic, it's the shape of things! Now I know where Madonna got her inspiration from. Never cared for her style of dress. I'm not being disrespectful... it was just a poor choice for a Beautiful woman.
@@that70sgirl90 I understand but disagree. I think the dress is cool looking :) The only thing that looks like Madonna is the pointy chest. Connie never is flashy. This is the only time I noticed her chest like this in a dress. You can see her figure which is nice. Her previous outfits make her look frumpy.
