I adore Ms Francis, back in 1987 while I was in College I worked at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood Florida, she had regular gigs there. One peticular night, there was an after party and they needed some extra help serving drinks and I got to hang out at her after party with what I am sure was a room filled with old time mobsters. It was a night I will never forget and she could not have been more kind and graceful to me. Whenever I see anything posted on Ms Francis I stop and watch her sing in that most magnificent tone and remember her and how kind she was as a human being.

Good heavens, I've never seen anyone performing this way, this woman brought up tears into my eyes, I could tell she was singing for real that day, she was not lip sinking what an incredible performance, it's just amazing, the very first time I ever saw her was in the Movie Where the boys are along with Yvette Mimieux which passed away in her sleep about a year ago, and she was another another beauty too alone with the other actresses from that movie, Connie Francis was, is, and it will be a superb singer and always remembered

I've always loved Connie Francis....at one time up until the 80s at least, she was the highest selling female vocalist of all time. Every song she sang is a winner! She had a lot of tragedies in her life and I think the biggest was never marrying Bobby Darin. Bless her! ♥

She's the total package that can't ever be duplicated. She sang live in a studio with a real band to record all of her songs, she did many different genres.. 15 was the record I heard. She could perform stunning live and didn't lip sync every time like most singers. She only did it when they wanted to promote the exact same song for sale which is normal to do. The Hall of fame doesn't say why they don't put in people they aren't fans of but some haters say Connie isn't Rock lol which isn't true. She's the first Rock singer female and first millions seller with rock songs that started Rock and Roll. Just because it's softer doesn't mean anything. The style got harder after. She did it all and is the first female to work as a woman's lib representer in the music industry. No one can compare to 👑 Connie Francis and nobody can beat her. I don't care who did great after her. Nobody really cared about Solo female artists until Connie and same goes for Spice girls. Nobody cared about girl groups for over 30 years after the Supremes until the Spice girls revolutionized pop and girl groups. These two legends are huge and stand the test of time today. It was a guarantee when I was younger that when I went to my Grandmas on a Sunday morning with my Nan there'd be dinner cooking and she'd have Where The Boys Are playing, every Sunday. This is how I fell in love with Connie Francis and she has been my favourite singer ever since. My Heart Has A Mind Of Its Own is my favourite upbeat song of hers and I don't think there is any slow song that could compare to Mama. Her voice is silken, there is no other like her and its a crying shame she doesn't have the recognition she deserves. Her songs should be played everywhere. Here she shows how effortless it is to belt out those big notes. At 2:20, when she goes up a note mid breath without breaking a sweat, that's singing.

It's always great to see Connie Francis! She really is one of the greatest singers of all time. Connie made a recording of "Born Free" and I think it was one of her favorite recordings she had ever done. Teresa Brewer and Connie Francis were the two singers who guested on the Ed Sullivan show more times than any others, so you know that Ed loved them, and with good reason. Both are fantastic singers with very different styles. I love them both, and hope to see many postings of them! Thank you for this clip! The date you listed for this broadcast is actually the re-run date. The original broadcast date was June 25, 1967. Connie also sang "Winchester Cathedral" and a medley of Italian songs.
this was an era when Connie's career was winding down yet she still maintained a power house of a voice...I'm surprised that her manager didn't direct her down a different kind of a venture...At this point, she still had so much left to offer musically. Her dark years were a few years away from about now. Everyone adored Connie, and I think many of us still do.
@@mrob75 Yes, everything you wrote is true! I've read that Connie was offered the song, "Angel of the Morning" but turned it down because of the risque nature. It became a big hit. I think Connie likely decided to stick with songs which she felt comfortable with, and I can understand that. I don't know how much say her manager would have had because I feel like she might have largely made her own career decisions. I will say, she did record a lot of great songs in the late 60's which should have been bigger hits, like "Time Alone Will Tell", "Somebody Else is Taking My Place", etc, but music had changed a lot.

Like others, Connie couldn't transition out of the early 60s into the mid / late 60s...Yes, times had indeed changed...I've always said that things were never quite the same after November 22, 1963...Everyone had to grow up really fast and the world had suddenly changed. (Side Note / Unrelated) Both Patti Page & Teresa Brewer had that similar problem transitioning from the 1950s into the early 60s let alone later when both had been absolute mega musical sensations! I'm a big fan of the music of the '50s' and early '60's, but after the British Invasion, I start to get less interested in the music, although I still have a bunch of favorites from after that as well. I really wish they would post Teresa Brewer, as she is my favorite '50's female singer, and she was on the Sullivan show more times than any other pop singer. They could post so many videos of her.
She had the most incredible relaxed beautifully powerful ‘chest voice’ the odd time she came off the gas into head voice it was seamless and hardly noticeable, what a singer, underrated 💕

@mike stambaugh Connie and Lady Gaga are the two women who literally do it all. I don't know why you have such a problem with Lady Gaga. She isn't a statue. She sings, dances, writes all of her own songs, makes her costumes, is versatile with music styles and is a really kind person. Italian like Connie is and they aren't even really comparable to be a debate for who's better since they are from two different generations. Lol I don't get why you choose her. I've always loved Connie Francis....at one time up until the 80s at least, she was the highest selling female vocalist of all time. Every song she sang is a winner! She had a lot of tragedies in her life and I think the biggest was never marrying Bobby Darin. Bless her! ♥

Absolutely agree. She had an exceptional voice, that was very differnt to mainstream.
She's the total package that can't ever be duplicated. She sang live in a studio with a real band to record all of her songs, she did many different genres.. 15 was the record I heard. She could perform stunning live and didn't lip sync every time like most singers. She only did it when they wanted to promote the exact same song for sale which is normal to do. The Hall of fame doesn't say why they don't put in people they aren't fans of but some haters say Connie isn't Rock lol which isn't true. She's the first Rock singer female and first millions seller with rock songs that started Rock and Roll. Just because it's softer doesn't mean anything. The style got harder after. She did it all and is the first female to work as a woman's lib representer in the music industry. No one can compare to 👑 Connie Francis and nobody can beat her. I don't care who did great after her. Nobody really cared about Solo female artists until Connie and same goes for Spice girls. Nobody cared about girl groups for over 30 years after the Supremes until the Spice girls revolutionized pop and girl groups. These two legends are huge and stand the test of time today. I'm sick of people making them out to be some kind of joke like wgen they say you like Connie or spice girls? Do they even still perform? Hey!? Do the Beatles still perform? You wanna still go on about them after they've not done nothing since the 60s!!! Who cares if they don't perform right now it's all about the music and fun.

It was a guarantee when I was younger that when I went to my Grandmas on a Sunday morning with my Nan there'd be dinner cooking and she'd have Where The Boys Are playing, every Sunday. This is how I fell in love with Connie Francis and she has been my favourite singer ever since. My Heart Has A Mind Of Its Own is my favourite upbeat song of hers and I don't think there is any slow song that could compare to Mama. Her voice is silken, there is no other like her and its a crying shame she doesn't have the recognition she deserves. Her songs should be played everywhere. Here she shows how effortless it is to belt out those big notes. At 2:20, when she goes up a note mid breath without breaking a sweat, that's singing.

It's always great to see Connie Francis! She really is one of the greatest singers of all time. Connie made a recording of "Born Free" and I think it was one of her favorite recordings she had ever done. Teresa Brewer and Connie Francis were the two singers who guested on the Ed Sullivan show more times than any others, so you know that Ed loved them, and with good reason. Both are fantastic singers with very different styles. I love them both, and hope to see many postings of them! Thank you for this clip!

this was an era when Connie's career was winding down yet she still maintained a power house of a voice...I'm surprised that her manager didn't direct her down a different kind of a venture...At this point, she still had so much left to offer musically. Her dark years were a few years away from about now. Everyone adored Connie, and I think many of us still do.
@@mrob75 Yes, everything you wrote is true! I've read that Connie was offered the song, "Angel of the Morning" but turned it down because of the risque nature. It became a big hit. I think Connie likely decided to stick with songs which she felt comfortable with, and I can understand that. I don't know how much say her manager would have had because I feel like she might have largely made her own career decisions. I will say, she did record a lot of great songs in the late 60's which should have been bigger hits, like "Time Alone Will Tell", "Somebody Else is Taking My Place", etc, but music had changed a lot.

Like others, Connie couldn't transition out of the early 60s into the mid / late 60s...Yes, times had indeed changed...I've always said that things were never quite the same after November 22, 1963...Everyone had to grow up really fast and the world had suddenly changed. (Side Note / Unrelated) Both Patti Page & Teresa Brewer had that similar problem transitioning from the 1950s into the early 60s let alone later when both had been absolute mega musical sensations! Just a thought.)

I'm a big fan of the music of the '50s' and early '60's, but after the British Invasion, I start to get less interested in the music, although I still have a bunch of favorites from after that as well. I really wish they would post Teresa Brewer, as she is my favorite '50's female singer, and she was on the Sullivan show more times than any other pop singer. They could post so many videos of her.
