You will see other similarities between Fedora and The Shining as well. Copying is when a director copy the basic storyline of a film and use it as the same basic storyline for his or her film. That is what Priyadarshan did in Priyadarshan's films.
@@josephpendleton4927 yeah right, so when Sathyan Anthikkad does it, it's paying homage (which was never once mentioned by him). Part or whole, it doesn't change the fact that it was plagiarised. This was way before the korean wave had hit india. So i'm pretty sure the director did not expect the 'kudumbaprekshakar' to recognise those 'inspired' scenes and cherish them. I don't know if he ever informed the makers of my sassy girl that he's paying them a homage by using some of their scenes for his movie. Unlikely. So i say, plagiarism.

Stanley Kubrick never mentions in The Shining that the scene (mentioned above) was inspired from Fedora (1978). Another example is there are films which contain scenes which are taken from Alfred Hitchcock's films. The directors don't mention in the films that the scenes are inspired from these films. Another example is the famous television show Seinfeld uses many scenes taken from many films as part of the comedy. The show never credits from where they got the idea for the scenes. If what you said is plagiarism, then all movies will have plagiarism since all films have influences from other films or other works. There is no film in this world created without any influences.

Not a hollywood copy, but Vinodayathra - Meera Jasmine's intro scene at the railway station is copied from the 2001 korean movie "My sassy girl" starring Jun Jihyun. Another scene from the same movie is used in "Innathe chinthavishayam" where meera jasmine chases of school girls from a restaurant. Such a rip off.
All films tend to have influences from other films. It could be inspirations or homages.

Sathyan Anthikkad basically took the scene from another film and used it in the scene in Vinodayathra and in the scene in Innathe Chinthavishayam.
Hollywood directors do that as well where they take a scene from another film and use it in their scene.
For example, the scene ("All work and no play make Jack a dull boy") in The Shining (1980) was taken from Billy Wilder's Fedora (1978) where the line "I am Fedora" is written repeatedly throughout the entire two books. You will see other similarities between Fedora and The Shining as well.
Copying is when a director copy the basic storyline of a film and use it as the same basic storyline for his or her film. That is what Priyadarshan did in Priyadarshan's films.
@@josephpendleton4927 yeah right, so when Sathyan Anthikkad does it, it's paying homage (which was never once mentioned by him). Part or whole, it doesn't change the fact that it was plagiarised. This was way before the korean wave had hit india. So i'm pretty sure the director did not expect the 'kudumbaprekshakar' to recognise those 'inspired' scenes and cherish them.
I don't know if he ever informed the makers of my sassy girl that he's paying them a homage by using some of their scenes for his movie. Unlikely. So i say, plagiarism.

Stanley Kubrick never mentions in The Shining that the scene (mentioned above) was inspired from Fedora (1978).
Another example is there are films which contain scenes which are taken from Alfred Hitchcock's films. The directors don't mention in the films that the scenes are inspired from these films.
Another example is the famous television show Seinfeld uses many scenes taken from many films as part of the comedy.
The show never credits from where they got the idea for the scenes.
If what you said is plagiarism, then all movies will have plagiarism since all films have influences from other films or other works.
There is no film in this world created without any influences.
