Below comment contains SPOILERS for Bheeshma Parvam. As you pointed out, Bheeshma parvam has influences from Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather trilogy (1972 to 1990). As you know, the name "Michael" in Bheeshma Parvam is taken from "Michael" Corleone (played by Al Pacino). Music score also has resemblances towards Nino Rota's score for The Godfather and The Godfather Part 2. It could possibly be an homage. The problem I had with Bheeshma parvam was it reminded me too much of Malayalam film Hitler starring Mammootty. In both films, Mammootty's character are authoritarian figures. In both films, there was an opposition between Mammootty's character and family relatives due to conflicts associated with romantic relationships (between Mukesh's and Vani Vishwanath's character in Hitler and between Sreenath Bhasi 's character Ami and Anagha's character Rachel in this film). In both films, family relatives ally with the family (Kompara in Hitler and Kocheri in this film) in order to destroy Mammootty's characters. In Hitler, Kompara family commits murder attempt on Mukesh's character. In Bheeshma, Sreenath Bhasi is murdered. This eventually leads to climax in both films. In Bheeshma Parvam, Michael gives authority to Ajas while in Godfather part 3, Vincent (Andy Garcia) is given authority by Michael Corleone (Al Pacino). I thought the second half of Bheeshma Parvam was too cliched. A clever character like Michael (Mammootty) would have definitely spied on Peter and Paul since he saw them collaborating with his enemies Kocheris and Michael also realized how Peter and Paul didn't reveal the identity of Bada Rajan ((who belonged to Kocheri) until Michael's secretary exposed the truth to him. This could have helped in preventing the death of Ami (Sreenath Bhasi). Ami also has resemblances towards Innocent's character in Hitler. Both Ami and Innocent's character were seen as threat to the plans of enemies in both films. So they were murdered during nighttime. Mammootty's character's feelings towards Nadia Moidu's character and her descendants in Bheeshma Parvam have resemblances towards Mammootty's character's feelings towards his father's children (his half sisters) in Hitler although other relatives oppose this in both films.
