  • Offered for sale we have a car that needs no introduction (But here’s a short one anyway!). The original Mark 1 Ford Capri entered production in 1969 with the final car rolling off the production line in 1974.

Our range topping 1.6GT example was first registered in 1971 and is still only showing 68,625 miles on clock, a number backed up by previous MOTs and service history. The car comes with MOT’s going back to 1989, service bills going back to the mid 70’s and, after spending a few years safely stored inside it was recently recommissioned and returned to the road. These works included a new clutch and resurfaced fly wheel, 5 new tyres, new battery, work on the brakes including new cylinders and brake shoes and a full service. Finally to finish the car was treated to a full respray in striking yellow. The interior is largely original and is a very nice place to sit, the dash has no cracks and the brown vinyl is in good condition- even the clock works.

The good news continues once you get behind the wheel, the car starts and runs well. The gearbox feels tight and responsive and the engine certainly doesn’t lack in power. The steering feels light and precise with no knocks or adverse noises coming from anywhere in the car. For mechanical piece of mind the car has MOT until next year with no advisories.

This isn’t a car for the shy and retiring, expect people to stop and take photos wherever you go.
