You mean _you_ don't understand it, and you don't know anybody who does. Some of us, however, do. In any case, that's beside the point. The performer's first duty, in medieval music and elsewhere, is to recognize where the artistic achievement lies in the repertoire they present-and in the Cantigas de Santa Maria, that is overwhelmingly in the versification of miracle stories, most certainly _not_ in musical composition-and to do their utmost to communicate that authentically and respectfully AS IF their audience understood every last nuance.
