Thank you for demoing a broad variety of gain tones from this pedal! The majority of demos I’ve listened to have only focused on the super heavy and saturated tones that it gets but I really wanted to hear how it handled lower gain drive tones. Your video was the first one that I honestly feel captured that well!
I love your vids. I find them very informative. You demonstrate the pedals with specific tones in mind, which is exactly how I want to hear. So many "hot shot" players demo gear, and just blindly twiddle knobs, ludicrous . Keep up the great work.
Thank you!! I definitely aim to demonstrate tones that bassists will use on a daily basis- which includes tones that are on the low gain end of the spectrum. So glad this was useful!
I really like the clean boost and light crunch sound of this pedal, plus it gets into fuzzy regions if needed. That and the competitive pricing sold it to me.
I swear I had thought I acquired my "final" bass overdrive a few years ago when I got a Catalinbread SFT. This is a completely different beast. I'm getting it!!
Great question!! This pedal has LOTS of volume on tap, so that’s why turning it to noon can get a bit loud. Haha! I personally enjoy setting pedals like this to unity or just above. All in all, I appreciate that EQD provides such headroom.
Ordered one on the write-up alone. I have an unusual use in mind for it, but also I'll explore all the possibilities, and that will complete my bass board 😎
WOW, that went from fuzzy to SHREDDED! 🤯 Lily, I forget, did you play bass as a kid? I never got to use an amplifier with any gain on a bass until I was grown. But when you got to the Hizumitas combo... I got flooded back to being 8 years old, DREAMING of being able to feel that kind of driven bass! And it looked on your face and grooving that you were feeling some of that same childhood wonder of being able to put out some POWER!
Thank you so much!!! I love that idea- although I didn’t play bass until I became a young adult, I can totally relate to EarthQuaker’s pedals striking that sense of awe & inspiration. 🤩
God that pedal sounds awful. I don’t feel the need to ever use pedals on bass at all, just give me a cord and a standard P bass with no bridge pickup. That’s really all you need.
Maybe that is enough for you, but most certainly not for most of us!!!😤 With your "setup" you'll miss almost ALL of the great tonal possibilities bass guitar can offer!🙄🤷🏻♂️
@@Ancient_Iron That’s just the thing, I’m after a great tone, not something that sounds like a technical problem. I don’t think any of the legendary bassists I admire used any pedals at all, all of the tonal possibilities came from their hands. I think there should be more emphasis on technique, rather than gadgets that’ll hold you back. The best bass tone I’ve ever heard in my life is on “I’m So Tired” by Bobby Bland. Check that out on headphones or good speakers. It’s just pure bliss. Janes Jamerson’s bass tone on “Darling Dear” by the Jackson 5 is also just heavenly.
@@Cornmolio There are MANY legendary bassists who use "gadgets".... The examples that you gave me are so out of my musical "genre" that listening them is a waste of time... I can give you some examples of a good bass players with their awesome tone, but you probably won't know any of them, so I don't bother... Little understanding would come a long way. YOUR "tone" is no better than mine, it is subjective... Don't judge others thinking that YOUR way is the ONLY right one!😤
@@Ancient_Iron Distortion is easy with any cheap or broken gear. A solid, clear bottom end requires better gear and a lot more care. If James Jamerson is a waste of time, I have no words. But I can guarantee you that you’ll hear his name come up again at some point, regardless of genre. Don’t be surprised when one of your favorite bass players lists him as an influence.
@@Cornmolio Creating a GOOD driven sound that works on a band context and "cuts through" the mix is not as simple as you think. But how would you know... And if pedals (FYI there are other pedals than just distortion ones.😲) are not your thing, why come here to judge ones who use them? I think it is just rude and you need to learn some basic manners...🙄😒

I’m so happy that I could help. Low gain sounds were definitely equally as important to me when making this video. Thank you for watching!
When you smile, the world smiles with you.
😁😁😁 thank you.

Thank you so much! A big part of my mission is to create a “resource”, so I’m so happy to hear this. 😄
Nice. Thanks for demoing some moderate tones along with the gnarlier ones.
Thank you!! I definitely aim to demonstrate tones that bassists will use on a daily basis- which includes tones that are on the low gain end of the spectrum. So glad this was useful!
i can give my guitarist his plumes back!
😂😂 that’s right! So stoked that EQD made a pedal specifically for us. 🥳
You can….. or…. You can have both 😉
Thank you for this, been looking for a nice overdrive pedal, def gonna look into getting one
Rock on! Stoked that this demo helped you out.
this demo was so helpful, the best one i found for just straight ahead tones thank you so much
SO glad! I always try to include some really practical & utilitarian tones when possible.
It indeed rips!! My bass asked for this pedal for Christmas!!
HAHA! Love that! Perfect way to put it. 😄
Thank you ! I haven’t become appreciative of distortion on bass yet, but I really enjoyed watching you demonstrate it. Great job ! Great playing !
Agree. She is lovely, but distortion and bass don’t go together very well. It thins it out.
Thank you! Happy this video could help you on your exploration of bass drive/distortion.
Best demo I've seen for this pedal. Plus, she has a great smile 😃
Thank you so much. 🤘😄
You got a beautiful smile, and chops to elevate it!
😄🎸⚡️
This is what I wanted! Great demo. Love the light breakup tones. Cheers!
Thanks so much!! So glad! Yeah, this is one where I love the low gain sounds just as much as the high gain ones. 😄
The more im hearing the blumes the more i like it! Any chance of a plumes/blumes face off video?
That would be really cool! I’ll have to look into seeing if I can make that happen. Thank you for watching!!
Awesome tones. Liked the structure of it too!
Thank you so much! 🤘

I agree!! Huge value! It’s definitely a very utilitarian device with a boutique flare. 🤩
I’m really looking forward to getting one of these. I’ve got a bass tubescreamer-shaped hole in my collection and this fits the bill!
Oh yeah. Perfect addition, if that’s what you’re looking for! 💥
Thanks for the demo, seems like a solid pedal
So happy I could help! 😄
I swear I had thought I acquired my "final" bass overdrive a few years ago when I got a Catalinbread SFT. This is a completely different beast. I'm getting it!!
Awesome!!! Honestly, I think it would be really cool to keep both the Blumes and the SFT on the same board.
What do you think about level Knob? No One up to 9:00 clock in review . Is a lot sensitive.

Nice!
Thank you!
Love how you get that "bass-face" and move to the groove more as you increase the gain 🤘🤣💥
Thank you! Haha that’s a great observation- I didn’t even realize but you’re totally right. 😂💥 ⚡️
I got mine today. Totally worth it.
Yay!! So excited to hear this.
Ordered one on the write-up alone. I have an unusual use in mind for it, but also I'll explore all the possibilities, and that will complete my bass board 😎
Fantastic!! Sorry I didn't catch this sooner, but I'm hoping the Blumes is happily hanging out on your pedalboard by now.
Sounds fantastic!! Can't wait to grab one for my board!
Doesn’t it?! That’s awesome. I’m so glad this vid could help you find your next drive pedal. Thanks for watching. 😄
I definitely plan on getting this; and the new preamp from source audio as well seems legit; it’s taken off to be a good year for bass already
Sweet!! It definitely has-- I'm super interested in that one, as well. Thanks for watching. 😄
WOW, that went from fuzzy to SHREDDED! 🤯

Hey, you! 😁
Hi! Thank you for stopping by to watch.
Yo!! You soundin’ Phat!! I like’n that 🥂!!!
Thanks so much! 💥💥
I can put my Plumes back on my guitar board and grab this for my bass board…
Exactly!! You’ll be covered no matter which rig you’re rockin’ 🤘
“Light breakup” sounds like fuzz to me and it just got fuzzier from there!
👍
Thanks! 😄
You are so CUTE!!!!! You're smile is priceless! Oh, your demo was awesome and you've convinced me to get one. You are so cool!
Thank you! Stoked this demo could hip you to the Blumes! You’re gonna love it. 🎛️💥
I dont like the blown speaker sound
