A Great way to start and so nice that you understand why a lot of people who are used to painting in other mediums find it so difficult to paint loosely ! ..Thankyou so much 🥰much appreciated!

You're so welcome! For years I thought I was doing watercolor wrong, but some of us can enjoy and use it differently. For those, this technique is much easier to learn and really improve, i'm glad it resonated with you 🙂

It's funny, because I stopped working on art seriously. About 20 years ago. I developed tan trimmers, they were interfering, and I just got frustrated. I recently started again, and decided to go with loose sketching, and watercolor. But it's been so difficult, that my frustration is building again. And then someone asked me to do a commission for them. I got the feeling that they wanted to retain the sharp lines of the original image, so I did a very clean, sharp blind picture , and it was the most comfortable, and best result. I've gotten in a very long time. So it's funny that I found this video.

I'm definitely not a loose painter and I'm not quite fond of using wet on wet. I'm still adjusting to regular paint brushes since I'm so used to the controlled flow of water brushes. So trying to find a comfortable water to paint ratio is definitely an adjustment. 😅

It's good we can paint in every style with watercolor and avoid the wet in wet.

@@paintingandchocolateif a specific artist decides to skip wet on wet ok. but there are beautiful focus and less focused paintings that are on on wet to blur the background and show off the focus just like a cámara. Animals often are focused in on their face or the detail that one wants but their bodies are less dramatized for appeal. So in wc to blur a very little bit the paper is wetted and those details don’t stay overly detailed so that is a wet on wet technique but not a difficult one. Adding a background can be fun just by dropping in the colors on a wet ( not dripping) surface and if drying happens I just use a spray bottle. To accomplish and be a fully accomplished wc artist in glazing then it just requires very little prewetting before putting a little layer. It almost hesitate to ask which artist made watercolor such a tortious thing. It actually makes me upset with who did this because there is so much beauty and it doesn’t have to be difficult in anyway. I have taught this to others and children. It isn’t your fault or others here but my oh my if I could I would do it. There are only so many techniques, not many really just repeat and practice. Oh this breaks my heart because I come from a family of artists. Hang in there! 😊

@@paintingandchocolate I would like to paint her head on a queen's body, like those portraits that were hung in castles, but I still don't know how to draw well and it's going to be quite difficult for me to make it realistic. 😄

I'd recommend,to begin with small sketching illustrations. Example: Draw a camel with a pencil and paint it with watercolors,by mixing yellow ochre with white for the parts where the light hits the camel. Less white in theix, for the spine on the top of the camel and darker grayish yello
ochre, for the shadow parts on her belly, between legs etc.

It does n't matter what paper you use on thisexamplis. Just use a thick one (170gr and up) and then, after some more experience, you upgrade the paper as you advance. Fabriano Studio Cold Pressed,is a good place to begin, if you really want to get into the watercolor medium.

BTW, how many years are you using Albrecht Durer Watercolors? Did the pigments really withstand fading for the past few years? Are there any few changes within the colors?

I only know the Albrecht Dürer watercolor pencils and so far so good! Only been using them for over a year though! Next I'll try the Albrecht Dürer markers 🙂
