The reason the lighting looks off is because light bounces off objects even after touching something meaning something not directly in light will still have some amount of light hitting it. This however isn’t happening to the player model which is weird when the rocks are lit exactly how I described making it stand out even more.

When people say "ps3 graphics" it's not so much things like the textures, it's more the fact that SO many games on the PS3 (and the era in general) consisted of so much brown and slapped in some bloom for "lighting". I get that the gameplay is on Tatooine, a desert planet, but it REALLY has that PS3 look to it.
Also he used Dark Souls as an example. Fromsoft games have always been hard carried by Art direction, not graphical fidelity. Like lets put this gameplay up against the likes of Infamous 2 by Suckerpunch. Not even the technical behemoth that is Naughty Dog of of every generation. This game honestly looks worse then some late gen PS3 exclusives and that was over 10 years ago.
Call me a shill, but I would personally just wait for five years or more so that the price may become lower over time, like how the old battlefront 2 game, which is around $10.00. I pray to GOD that there’s a better Star Wars game next year. From what I remember, Respawn is making a squad based shooter similar to Republic Commando (I might be misremembering the details); it’s a shame that they aren’t completing the Cal Kestis trilogy anytime soon, but I’m still on board, given their track record. I heard that the KOTOR Remake hasn’t been shelved and is being handed off to and reworked by the that assisted Aspyr with development. I’m honestly glad that it’s not coming anytime soon because I believe we were spared of a terrible remake by the people who flubbed the remaster of Battlefront 1&2. Also, that one writer who people were concerned about (whose name escapes me) got axed off the team before the tech demo was pitched to the investors, so I’m confident that the writing will be reworked with the gameplay… let’s just hope it sticks the landing😂.

I dunno man, I think people are giving this game a bit too much flack. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t look like a masterpiece, but from what I’ve seen it looks like a pretty good, pretty fun game. Probably not a day one buy for me, as I’d like to see some reviews / more gameplay - and that’s on top of the fact that Ubisoft is always quick to put its games on sale, so may as well wait till it drops a bit anyway. But while I think some of the criticism this game is getting is at least somewhat justified, it’s jarring to see people blasting it and labeling it as trash when, to me, it looks like pretty standard fare for games today. For instance, you paused on a shot earlier of her jumping away from a grenade going off and said it looks horrible - but I’m looking at it thinking, “I don’t get it, what’s so terrible about this shot?” And even if you have a beef with one frame of the shot, well who cares? The actual clip of the grenade going off looked totally fine to me - I just really don’t see the issue. Look, I’m not trying to defend Ubisoft here - I’m right there with ya with the fact that they’ve been going down the tubes for years. I just think people are going out of their way to be extra critical of this game just because it’s the popular opinion to have.

Fun Fact about Watch Dogs: The Graphical Downgrade was because they wanted to make the game "equal" in terms of ports, so no graphical improvements on 1 version of the game compared to the other, since that would affect Console Sales. However if you play on PC, you can mod the game to have the Pre-Release graphical stuff added in, since the devs kept it in the files. TL:DR Ubisoft wanted Port Equality graphics wise so the PC version wouldn't look better than the Console versions, due to Console Port Sales.

The combat in the gameplay trailer looked like watchdogs legions shooting mechanics and the stealth too is standard ubisoft 3rd person formula. Would be surprised if it doesnt exclusively has Fetch quests and climbing towers.

I dunno man, I think people are giving this game a bit too much flack.
Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t look like a masterpiece, but from what I’ve seen it looks like a pretty good, pretty fun game. Probably not a day one buy for me, as I’d like to see some reviews / more gameplay - and that’s on top of the fact that Ubisoft is always quick to put its games on sale, so may as well wait till it drops a bit anyway.
But while I think some of the criticism this game is getting is at least somewhat justified, it’s jarring to see people blasting it and labeling it as trash when, to me, it looks like pretty standard fare for games today. For instance, you paused on a shot earlier of her jumping away from a grenade going off and said it looks horrible - but I’m looking at it thinking, “I don’t get it, what’s so terrible about this shot?” And even if you have a beef with one frame of the shot, well who cares? The actual clip of the grenade going off looked totally fine to me - I just really don’t see the issue.
Look, I’m not trying to defend Ubisoft here - I’m right there with ya with the fact that they’ve been going down the tubes for years. I just think people are going out of their way to be extra critical of this game just because it’s the popular opinion to have.

It looks boring and empty, hollow. I actually checked my youtube res because I thought I was still watching in 480p or something. I don't think PS3 graphics is too far off. Maybe not the graphics itself but rather how they worked with it.
ea even though its the same company that made the anthem and wants to utilize a.i you gotta give them credit for all of the Star Wars games they made as most of them were perfect.

Fun Fact about Watch Dogs:
The Graphical Downgrade was because they wanted to make the game "equal" in terms of ports, so no graphical improvements on 1 version of the game compared to the other, since that would affect Console Sales.
However if you play on PC, you can mod the game to have the Pre-Release graphical stuff added in, since the devs kept it in the files.
TL:DR Ubisoft wanted Port Equality graphics wise so the PC version wouldn't look better than the Console versions, due to Console Port Sales.
