The first thing that caught my eye when I saw a T7 was that exhaust. I think this repositioning provides peace-of-mind. You don't have to baby the bike out of concern for dropping it. I rode my T-dub with the factory skid plate for a while and I was constantly worried about it. After installing the Rick O'Shea, I can tackle lava rocks and attract the ladies in confidence.
@@SwankyCatProductions same. So far it's a Tusk pannier rack system with pilot bags, a sort of ammo can luggage build, and wiring an accessories electrical distribution system.
Yeah I'm not really sure who approved that, seems like they are having some issues with getting the T7 manufactured at all so I'd assume it was literally just thrown together lol. Otherwise I cannot think of a good excuse.... You too, thanks!
When I dropped (gently) my T7 on the right side, there were 3 contact points: the handlebars, the crashbars, and the right footpeg. The stock exhaust didn't touch the ground at all. Is it really that vulnerable?
Depends where you drop it, I got lucky once and my stock exhaust didn't touch at all either, then another time it did and I could tell it had been tweaked a bit even though I had been able too guide the bike down slowly.
I dropped mine twice on the right side with no problem. I've gone over 7,000 miles, about 70% off-road and it's not an issue at all. I suppose if you drop it just the wrong way, you can bend it, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. It works perfectly fine stock for me. And the comment about the center of gravity is a good point.
@@steveh1510my bike dropped from standstill and there is definetly marks on the exhaust. I can't see how it couldn't touch when it's the farthest part that sticks out
Can't argue with the soft bags but as for the higher center of gravity, this kit is so much lighter than the stock pipe I would bet there is very little change.
Have you seen or considered the HP corse high mount exhaust , believe this option to be better due to the fact it fits closer to the bike and doesn't use OEM bendy exhaust bracket , interested to know your thoughts ideas ? Rob
I too love the look of the exhaust. Sounds awesome! Ride safe!
Thanks! You too!!!

Yeah it's definitely worth the piece of mind. My Ricochet plate on my T-Dub makes me feel a lot better too!
Nice! Mod season has arrived! I can't wait to start tinkering on the KLR.
I'm hoping I can get a few more mods and test rides in with both my bikes. Getting pretty cold though... What do you have planned?

I didn't want to chop my bike frame for this exhaust so I went with the HP corse high mount pipe.
Would you go the same route today on the pipe I love the camel look but I like the mount on others better Thx Jss sweet bike
That kit does look very good. I still don't understand why Yamaha designed their stock exhaust that way.
Haha that license plate!
Happy riding sir!

Hp course exhaust is pretty sweet for the T7
Mod season here in NL Canada. Going to lower seat, stand, tank bag, possibly exhaust. I like that one. Might give it a try. Stay swanky.
What seat did you go with? I should really get one...
@@SwankyCatProductions I’m having one custom made at a local upholstery shop. I gotta get my feet flat on the ground!

Thanks for the pro tips!
Happy to help!
hmmm i didnt see that little piece u put in behind your spark arrestor. now mine rattles in there
Maybe they stopped putting it in there?
My concern is raising the already high center of gravity and leaving less room for soft bags.

you had any problem with soft luggage based on the location of the exhaust now? saddlebags like the Dryspec D20 look like they would touch
I put DirtRacks HD soft luggage bars on it and they fit up great with the pipe!

Thanks for video!
Yamaha should have this from the beginning
Agreed, incredibly silly design for an off road bike.
What’s the LCD display case called around the Speedo ? Thanks !
The Camel ADV anti bobblehead kit?
@@SwankyCatProductions No the actual case protector or housing around your speedometer
What tires are you running?
I miss the KLR650 content already! 😁
Haha
Anyone know if you can use this kit when you have mosko motos reckless 80 luggage system?
My guess would be no. I'm going to get some DirtRacks rear soft bag racks and I'll see how that goes.
I was wondering the same thing. On their website the mosko rackless series is listed as one of the rack systems compatible with this set up!
What are the little bars on the side of the Camel exhaust? Are they for protection?
Yep they act as a bit of a heat shield for driver and passengers boots.
Sounds good!
Thanks BoxOfChox ADV!
Hey man, do you have a mapping on the bike?
Yep, th-cam.com/video/7f4cMLOQFd4/w-d-xo.html
How much was the whole kit? Exhaust and/muffler and all?
That kit is 499 usd
Nice
Thanks Jim!
Sounds better with new arrester
Yeah I think so too, thanks!
That bike looks too good to get dirty. Sounds real good.
Ha ha yeah it's hard to get it dirty when it looks so nice... but somebody's gotta do it!
