Jimmy has a talent at finding a great song and making it better by putting a little Coral Reefer magic in it. There are quite a few others that he's done this to: Wheel Inside the Wheel, Mexico, Weather With You, to name a few. cockburn would've never said "this song was WROTE..." if you're going to quote mr. cockburn, don't diminish him, he's an educated man. apparently, you are not.

Written is used as a past participle or future tense, and usually it is an ongoing action. If you are using written in the past tense you need to first have an auxiliary verb in front of it. The song was finished and it was in the past, therefore it is best to use wrote. Paying attention in middle school English would have saved you the humiliation of pretending you are smart in a youtube comment.

I heard the original back in 2004-2005, and I thought "Jimmy should cover this song". He'd already done so many Cockburn songs by then, and it felt like one that Jimmy would sing exceptionally well. A year or so later, Hoot came out while I was living in Key West and I immediately went to see it. First song in the movie and I thought "Called it". Well done, Jimmy. Well done. Really great work.

The steel drum really works! I like how he has put his stamp on the song and that it's not a note-for-note copy (the worst kind of cover IMHO). I have never heard anyone cover Bruce Cockburn better than Jimmy Buffett does.

Hello from Cincinnati Ohio! This song can be found on a movie soundtrack CD. The name of the movie is Hoot. Jimmy appeared in the movie as a school teacher. He and the author are/were friends. I think Jimmy may have been part of the production of the movie, but I'm not sure about that. Fins Up!
