I first heard this song when I was a kid, eating at the mission with my homeless mom.
My goal as a child when I was grown was to live inside. I've accomplished my goal. This song has always given me hope.

I know one thing. A Bruce Cockburn song will be played at my funeral service. This one is my favorite at the moment. Greetings from Germany to all Bruce Cockburn fans.

What a beautiful gift this song was. Remember listening to it when it first came out. I was 15 and homeless and had just gotten a job washing dishes in a restaurant. It played a lot in that kitchen that summer and it always made me feel good. About 7 years later, I was flying to Germany to begin a co-op job for an engineering firm. This song was on the plane's playlist, and I remember listening to it over and over while thinking back about all that I'd been through to get to where I was now.

It's 1 day after Hurricane Sandy in Brooklyn. After falling asleep to the sound of galeforce winds whipping through the panes in my windows....I woke up to silence, un-pinned the sheets from my windows, and saw - a bit of sun already. I was okay, my block was okay (one of the ones that DIDN'T get flooded), I still had power and most of my friends are all okay. I immediately thought of this song - "Sun's up, uh-huh, looks okay, the world survives into another day...." Thank you.

I grew up on Bruce Cocburn. I saw him live in the late 60's in a Montreal coffee shop way before he was known. He was the greatest influence on my subsequent musical career as a singer-songwriter. I learned how to write meaningful lyrics and how to pick a guitar from. That video brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch it.

Bruce graced the birth of our first born son with this song in Dallas, Texas of June 4th, 1980. I had quit my job, traveled to BGSU to enroll in a special ed. masters program and find a house for our budding family. Poor as we were, I taught a couple years and God led us to the Central Pacific to pursue teaching positions at a boarding school earning $385 a month with our baby girl born just before we left for Kiribati. What a wild journey! Fearless to no end, my wife and I, with God's hand upon our shoulder in faith and prayer, pursued an extravagant dream that has yielded a harvest of good works and fulfillment. "Wondering where the lions are?" That's just your godless self telling you that you need to work at it using your own power and playing it safe. Don't do it! Live extravagantly using God's power in faith and holding him responsible for the fulfillment for which he created you to become and be. That's "some kind of ecstasy" when you trust in His power to guide and lead you. My advise, move over and give God a chance in faith & prayer..."I'm thinking about eternity" and you'll wonder where the lions are even through the failures that we all need to fearlessly over come through faith & trust in His spirit, not yours. --KG

first song i ever heard of his when i was 5 years old. it was on a compilation album called ROCKIN' THE AIRWAVES. 34 years later, it's still one of my all time favorites. it's an ear to ear grinning song.

I remember the first time I heard this. WKIR in Jackson, TN was playing it in 1979. There was a storm coming in, so we could hear the distant station (100 miles) in western Kentucky. Hauling hay with my buddies, thinking about where we were gonna spend all that money...
    Damn.
    Thanks for posting!
