  • This lecture concerns Acts 14, continuing the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas.
They began at Iconium but they were threatened with stoning, so they fled to Lystra and Derbe. At Lystra, following Paul's healing of a man unable to walk from birth, the people wanted to sacrifice and worship them. They thought Barnabas was Zeus and Paul was Hermes. Paul really objected to this and explained why they should not do it.
Unfortunately, men from Inconium and Antioch came there and stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, assuming he was dead. Paul rose and next day departed to Derbe.
